No worries at all. I'm in almost every game day thread and try to participate number of other threads here. I really enjoy this message board. :)

LOL. I remember the days of a 2 year old running around. Of course for my youngest, that would have 21 years ago. :hmmm::D

Yeah, looks like he just never looked that way. Maybe too much traffic going on over there? I'm sure it was brought up on film day.

mahomes kind of had a crappy day, especially by his standards

testament to his greatness that a crappy day is 3 TD and 0 turnovers LMAO

Another half second into that route and nobody is within 7 yards of Juju.

Mahomes brought it up on postgame. Acknowledged he missed JJSS and didn't see him.

I personally think Mahomes wasn't seeing the field all that well and maybe the Seahawks rolled out coverages he wasn't anticipating. Reminded me of his late season performance against Atlanta a few years back (which should have absolutely been a loss). This time he mitigated the bad throws and seemed more apt to either run or do Alex check downs rather than try to force anything deep.

More damning to the WR's, imo. But clearly showed Mahomes had his B- game on against Seattle. The most concerning thing from all of it is Mahomes continuing to throw at the defenders feet. That's a bad habit that could result in disaster like his drift back habit did in 2020/early 2021.

Hammock Parties 12-27-2022 12:38 AM

mahomes numbers were vastly inflated by three throws to kelce and pacheco

that was like half his yards

good to have these days though, get him sharp for the postseason

He missed Skyy for a walk in check-down TD.

I think that's why he is so good, though. He is capable of those throws even on days where he's not seeing the field or gets flummoxed by whatever the D is doing for some reason.

When any QB of our past had an off day, a 15/29 day for 129 yards was just the sort of the ride we were in for. Those three throws just weren't happening.

Another encouraging thing, at least for me, was that in 2021 these days felt accompanied by 2 or so bad picks of him forcing it downfield. The Denver game is a recent example of this, actually. He flat out missed coverages in the second half and forced the ball into the windows anyway. Against SEA he was quick to throw the ball away, and as frustrating as it was to watch, the defense is boosted immensely when they weren't constantly besieged by short fields.

Hammock Parties 12-27-2022 01:01 AM

I heard somewhere I want to say it was Adams doing it. Just getting your hands up at the last minute so the defender can't respond.

I thought to myself I'm not sure I want my guys doing that (Travis would be the exception) they need to worry about CATCHING THE ****ING BALL.

But I'm guessing it is something that is making the rounds in the receivers rooms.

Definitely.

I'm all about him hammering the back in the flat until they loosen up the deeper shit because **** you that's why.

Sidenote: It's good to see Travis beating guys with speed. Seemed like early it was all hook routes and shit smart players do. If we can eek out another year before he falls off athletically I'm here for it.

Sure winning and all that shit, but right now I'm just LOVING watching my guys be elite. I'm trying not to lose the perspective that Travis and Pat are just goddamned special and I can't get so wrapped up in Super Bowls (they're hard to get) that I don't appreciate the ride. Because this shit is FUN.

Throw in guys like Pacheco and McKinnon, Bolton, McDuffie, and Trey Smith annihilating bitches while he pulls, this shit is SO FUN.

I said it in the QB carousel thread, but it bears repeating. I thank God for Mahomes on every snap of football I watch, Chiefs or not.

Football used to be a distraction for a few hours on Sunday and then the occasional lulz during the week.

Now it's crack cocaine and I thank my dealer Patrick for that.

I was there as well, and nobody in the whole freaking stadium was comfortable. It was absolute misery.

I'm not sure it'll ever stop being hilarious that a dude can throw for 8 YPA, 3 total TDs, no turnovers, only take one sack and it's considered a bad game.

Agreed. The past few years have been the most fun I've ever had with football.

But as entertaining as Patrick Mahomes II is, it would be depressing to see him if he had been drafted by another team. I had fifty years of watching good quarterbacks on other teams. I did not need any more of that.

All hail Mahomes!

That play happened sorta in front of us at about a 2 o'clock angle so you could see the throw and where the DB was perfectly. It STILL looked like a Madden glitch.

My wife just looks at me and says "how'd he even catch that?"

Because it was an absolute dime, dear. It was just a dime. Perfect defense and it just didn't matter.

Still have no idea how ESPN graded it a 34/100 QBR. He wasn't great, but he also got screwed by WR drops. At least 3-4 of them on 3rd down to kill drives. They graded him 70/100 in the Denver game when he had the 3 bad INT's. I would reverse the grades on those two games.

His ball placement was off most of the day, IMO.

Balls high/low/left/right by a couple of feet. And in cold weather, you're really asking for trouble because if the ball's not right on target, that hard ball and cold hands is gonna be a drop far more often than it isn't.

A couple of those drops were just bad drops {cough}Watson{coughcough} but a couple more were just bad ball placement making for a tough catch in hard catch conditions. And on a couple of catches there were balls where we got zip for YAC yards because he jammed up his receiver with a bad(ish) ball.

He wasn't great writ large. But I choose to remember that throw to Kelce because it was seemingly impossibly perfect.

To me, it was just a tad too far to do it. If Kelce were a yard or so closer to the sideline, it would have been perfect.

Ideally, sure. But to me the play was still there, Kelce just didn't get a good enough toss. Luckily, it dropped straight down and McKinnon popped on it.

You gotta be careful with that, though. If the ball hangs just a little bit, it could turn into a pick 6.

You gotta be careful with that, though. If the ball hangs just a little bit, it could turn into a pick 6.

gotta make sure there's no defenders in the area

I only disliked it because it seemed unnecessary. Thankfully McKinnon recovered it. We kept talking about how KC would lose to Cincinnati because of a mistake or two and then we almost create a needless mistake in FG range trying to be cute. Had KC not recovered that ball they lose 3 points which could have once again been the difference. I am curious how many people would have liked that play had Cincinnati recovered and eventually won the game.

Exactly. It really was a good location on the field to try it.

this should be practiced so they can execute it flawlessly with no risk

with defenders SWARMING kelce on every play now, it's perfect

There was little chance that the Bengals could recover that ball with the way the play happened. There wasn't anyone within 5 yards of him.

Yes, we could have lost the 3 points if that ball bounces differently, but it just as easily could have been 7 instead. I understand your point though.

That condition does not exist on a play like that. That's always a high risk play no matter how much it's practiced. The rewards could be hige but the risks are always high. Having said that it could still be beneficial going forward because defenders may think for just a split second that they shouldn't leave their guy to try and tackle the ball carrier if they're worried about that happening.

Which means the Chiefs are setup now to FAKE it and generate a big play by NOT doing it. ;)

The throw to mvs that wasn't a touchdown was great placement too. There were 3 defenders there.

And he almost tried it with Noah Gray later, as well.

At the very least, it makes the defense have to think about one more thing they might do.

That TD pass to Kelce is one of my favorites.

That was sick. We put the Eagles on notice at that point. You aren't playing NCF QBs today Gannon.

You know how some movies have record scratch moments where the movie makes the record scratch sound, the screen freezes and the main character breaks the 4th wall and says "And this was the moment I knew...."

Fellas - this was TJ Edwards record scratch moment right here:

{scratch}

"And this play - the first play of the game - was when I knew I was in for a LONG day..."

They showed an end zone view during the broadcast that was even crazier. That throw was all anticipation.

I legit felt bad for TJ Edwards by the end of that game.

He's a really good player who's had a great year. And it seemed like the staff made it a point to absolutely abuse him and Gardner-Johnson. That whole game Reid, Mahomes and Kelce were absolutely murdering those two.

I have no more hate for the crazy stuff they try sometimes. They have earned some screw ups.
