Royals need to have open tryouts for bullpen arms. 55 guys off the street and what not.

The pen is shockingly bad.
Not impressed with cal Eldred so far. Seeing a lot of mechanical issues and pitchers that seem unprepared. Law of averages tells us they can’t be this bad all year, but damn it’s brutal right now. |
I'm probably out of the loop on this, but whatever happened to Dave Eiland?
|
Another 10,000 last night. Weather was nice too. Guess that excuse won’t work?

We're a shitty team and people aren't going to the park. What a shocker! I guess with Escobar no longer on the team, you had to find something to gripe about. |
I think it's an interesting comparison between the Royals/Dayton Moore and the Mariners/Jerry Dipoto. The Mariners traded pretty much everyone and their mother this past offseason, compared to the slow and steady approach of Dayton Moore. The Mariners had probably as bad of a farm system as Kansas City as recently as last year, but right now they seem to have surpassed us and are near the top 10 depending on which rankings you look at. They're also off to a fast start and demolished us last night. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I can't exactly say I favor the job Moore is doing over what Dipoto has done.

Based on recent history, I think its fair to say that Glass will spend when it's time to spend. Basically when the team can prove that they can consistently be competitive w/o the spending (i.e. scouting and developing solid young major leaguers), he will add the spending to help get them over the top or to compete for a division title.
They are nowhere close to doing that with this team now. The soonest we can probably hope for is 2021 or 2022. Most of the young talent is in High A ball. At that point, Whit (assuming he's still around) and Mondi will be the 'veterans' of the team. |

Lovelady and Fillmyer called up. McCarthy and Hill sent down
|
Dick Lovelady is in the house.

It at least appears like they are trying now. If they’ll cut Owings and Duda we might be on to something.

Of course winning helps but the Royals need to take a look into things IE: ticket prices, concessions, parking, etc. |
It's simple boys, it's going to be a rough year. It isn't a mystery as to why, it just means if you're going to demand a winner, if what we've seen thus far is any indication of this year's Royals, you'll probably have to wait at least another year.
It's all good, Ned won't fall down on the job... |

Won't be any attendance problems there. |
How does Mondesi have a lower OBP than AVG? I didn't realize that was possible.

I get it alot of you want to focus on the game itself but the royals are rebuilding. The attendance comments are important moving forward as baseball is all about economics. I think this next go around the Royals will have a chance at holding onto their core. They will obviously need more revenue to do so. The TV deal is important but so is the stadium. It's much more of a sell with good attendance. |
If you want to watch a ballgame at the K, you can get there. A 100 loss team isn't going to fill a downtown stadium. The K is gorgeous and unique. Don't get rid rid of it, please.

It’s been less than 2 days and I’m already tired of the sophomoric jokes about Lovelady.
Richard looked pretty good last night, though. Good deception with the arm angle, velocity looked pretty good. The slider isn’t a dominant pitch, but it’s effective. Doesn’t have quite enough break for him to lean on it first. |

Q: What did you say to Whit after [the record tying] hit? A: [blatantly sarcastic] "Great job?" I mean what do you want me to say? We're gonna say the same thing regardless of who gets a hit. The reporter sheepishly popped off with something about his question being "obvious" then Ned said something to the effect that there's a difference between tying a record and breaking it. |

FYI Gordon not playing today. Gore will be in LF. I guess Yost decided to bench our hottest hitter just cuz

Just my take, but I don't understand why people waste their time asking him anything, much less baseball related questions where the answers to the questions are obvious to anybody with a pulse. Like our bullpen and it being terrible! |
I really wonder why Yost came back to manage this team...I wonder if he's aleady regretting it.
I also wonder why the Royals brought him back...seemed like a perfect time to break it off and start fresh with a new voice. |
I didn't get to see the game last night but just saw where Hamilton scored from 2nd base on a sacrifice fly .LOL. That's one fast mother****er!

So I'm aware that Wilmington is a tough place to hit, and it's still early, but is it normal to see most of our highly touted prospects there putting up blanks almost every game? Having some hope from the minors is the only hope I have, and before the 2014-2015 seasons some of the most enjoyment I've had was following Moustakas, Hosmer, Montgomery, Meyers, Duffy, Cain, etc. in the minors back around 2010.

The sample size is still small enough that a single hit is going to create a .050 swing in batting average. Have to give it more time before any sort of stat line scouting (which is unreliable anyway). That’s a tough hitting environment and a tough league to hit in, period. Key is comparing them to what other Royals prospects did there (and at the end of the year). |
Hos is off to a great start hitting .222
|
I want Gore at RF permanently and Whit at second. Owings can ride the bench
|
Quote:
Hos said he felt this season would be better, when asked why.. “Just a feeling.” Thanks for all you did, Hos. |
Lol Boxberger. Cut that dude tomorrow. Im glad Zimmer had to go down to the minors because he wasn't getting it done, but Boxbergers still here. He's just such a gritty savvy vet.

I have never seen a pitching staff so incapable of holding a lead
