So I’m sure this has already been posted by now. Sorry, haven’t been on here all weekend.

Rumors coming out of the last day of NFL Combine:

• 49ers expected to work on Aiyuk extension after free agency ends
•The ‘feeling’ is Chris Jones will remain in Kansas City if $27-28M deal is offered
• Michigan's J.J. McCarthy Could be Top-10 Pick After Combine
• Patriots a… pic.twitter.com/tMXMpP3UV1
— B/R Gridiron (@brgridiron) March 4, 2024
So it kind of ‘sounds’ like from some circles, the Chiefs are gonna really try and get this done with CJ. So if $27-$28 million possibly gets it done, then what do you all think of a deal structured something like this: 4 years, $110 million. $75 million guaranteed. (avg. yearly value $27.5 mil.) Year 1 - $15 mil. (Fully gtd.) Year 2 - $25 mil. (Fully gtd.) Year 3 - $35 mil. (Fully gtd.) Year 4 - $35 mil. (in essence, voidable) Is this a possibility? Can Chiefs get Klutz brothers to agree to this? Even at his age, I’d feel really good about those first 2 years. I don’t like year 3, but it’s a price there gonna have to pay somewhere to get a deal done. At least the cap should be significantly higher by the 3rd year of the deal. The 4th year would be essentially voidable so you could get out of it after 3 with little cap implication. Would you do this deal for Chris Jones? More importantly, would Chris Jones take this deal? (Again, I’m operating with the assumption Veach is gonna do what he can to get a deal done) |
Last year CJ's number was 30+, I see no reason he would drop that number after winning the super bowl last season.
I expect us to keep ****ing around and when free agency comes some team probably throws 35 at him and we wave goodbye |
Just give him $30M and lets go to work, tag and trade Sneed before his value depreciates more the closer we get to the draft, restructure Mahomes to make up the differences and open up space, cmon Veach! I trust in you but lets stop sand-bagging this shit! Let's look like we have our house in order.

I thought he made $25 million last year w/ incentives?
Also, Veach offered him a 2 year/ 54 million fully gtd. extension which he and his agents declined. He ended up making less with the time he missed. (although incentives may have pushed him back over $27.5 mil.?) |
Let Jones walk. Waste of manhours at this point. Neither side will budge on the contract so let him go and move on.

No excuse to not get this done. You’ve been working on it for over a year.
We want him, he wants us and we aren’t paying anyone on the defense except a small deal for Reid. Get this done and go for the three peat |

I might be more pessimistic than others, I just don't know it's a slam dunk like so many are making it out to be. |

If they won’t pay Jones, that’s not the end of the world. He’s getting up there in age and he’ll be damn expensive. We can use that money somewhere else. Paying him is my preference right now, but moving on isn’t terrible for the long term either. Hurts the chances of a 3-peat for sure. |
