Looks like propellant is being loaded!

2112 12-08-2020 03:49 PM

This thing is 400 ft tall? Holy shit it’s bigger than the Saturn V

No, "Starship" is 160 feet in height. That's what we are watching. When combined with Super Heavy, it'll be 400 feet.

Donger 12-08-2020 03:55 PM

NASA tracking plane:

DaFace 12-08-2020 03:57 PM

Sounds like they're aiming for 4:30ish Central.

Ah ok, super heavy is the first stage if they’re going to the moon.

Here's the official SpaceX stream if that's your style:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nf83yzzme2I" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

mlyonsd 12-08-2020 04:25 PM

Is there a live feed yet? When I go to the launch site it's just a countdown to 4:30CT.

SpaceX isn't live yet. I'm currently watching Everyday Astronaut, and Donger posted a different feed above.

DaFace 12-08-2020 04:29 PM

Kind of odd that SpaceX isn't live yet. Maybe we're still a few minutes out?

DaFace 12-08-2020 04:31 PM

SpaceX is live!

Donger 12-08-2020 04:32 PM

T-3:30

mlyonsd 12-08-2020 04:33 PM

Got it. Thanks.

DaFace 12-08-2020 04:35 PM

Well damn.

Donger 12-08-2020 04:35 PM

Abort

mlyonsd 12-08-2020 04:36 PM

Looked like a dud on the 4th of July.

2112 12-08-2020 04:40 PM

I thought my internet crashed at 13 seconds lol

Hydrae 12-08-2020 04:56 PM

Well, that was disappointing. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Donger 12-09-2020 11:54 AM

Sounds like they might give it another go today.

unlurking 12-09-2020 12:08 PM

NASA flight plan for today was uploaded about an hour ago. Should be on site around noon. Can use the same flight radar site posted earlier.

Departure changed to 2:30pm CST so would be on-site by around 3:30pm CST.

unlurking 12-09-2020 01:49 PM

Not seeing an official SpaceX feed yet, watching LP's feed and listening to Tim's.

DaFace 12-09-2020 01:56 PM

Bummer. If they go at 3:30, I may not be able to watch. :(

unlurking 12-09-2020 02:10 PM

50 minutes, new SpaceX feed...
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ap-BkkrRg-o" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

DaFace 12-09-2020 02:24 PM

Yep, gonna miss it. Have fun. I'll watch the replays.

unlurking 12-09-2020 02:25 PM

I may as well. :(

Hopefully it actually goes. The footage should be awesome!

Donger 12-09-2020 02:54 PM

Tri-vent, so about 12 to 15 minutes to zero

Donger 12-09-2020 02:58 PM

SpaceX feed is live. T-5:30

allen_kcCard 12-09-2020 03:02 PM

Bah!

allen_kcCard 12-09-2020 03:02 PM

Hold on countdouwn and then started venting.

allen_kcCard 12-09-2020 03:05 PM

Can't tell if they are re-loading propellant though.

Donger 12-09-2020 03:07 PM

DaFace and unlurking jinxed it...

allen_kcCard 12-09-2020 03:07 PM

Looks like it could have been a hold for propellant temp.

Donger 12-09-2020 03:09 PM

Possible airspace intrusion

Donger 12-09-2020 03:10 PM

Per SpaceX, waiting for a new T-0 time.

allen_kcCard 12-09-2020 03:22 PM

Tentative 3:40 launch now

Donger 12-09-2020 03:23 PM

New launch time: 4:40pm CST

unlurking 12-09-2020 03:33 PM

lol
New windows is right in the middle of an interview. May take a break and make the candidate watch. :D

Donger 12-09-2020 04:04 PM

T-41:00

DaFace 12-09-2020 04:12 PM

Hey, I can watch now! Thanks for the hold!

Any word on the reason for the hold? Exclusion violation?

100% chance of that...

Donger 12-09-2020 04:47 PM

No "smoke" from the engines?

DaFace 12-09-2020 04:47 PM

Lost an engine...but could be intentional?

Donger 12-09-2020 04:48 PM

Lost an engine?

GloryDayz 12-09-2020 04:49 PM

Lost 2?

eDave 12-09-2020 04:49 PM

They must be shutting the engines down one-by-one or something. Two failures? Steering maybe?

DaFace 12-09-2020 04:49 PM

I don't even know what they're doing....

Donger 12-09-2020 04:49 PM

Hope this is planned.

LMAO

DaFace 12-09-2020 04:50 PM

Here comes the belly flop!

Donger 12-09-2020 04:50 PM

Coming down!!

Don't know about the engines, but the flip definitely is.

Donger 12-09-2020 04:51 PM

That's not flying! That's falling with style!!

eDave 12-09-2020 04:52 PM

Well, that was ****ing rad. LOL

GloryDayz 12-09-2020 04:52 PM

Welp, almost.

Usg.

Donger 12-09-2020 04:52 PM

HOLY SHIT!

arrowheadnation 12-09-2020 04:52 PM

IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE!!!!!! Even though it failed, we just witnessed one the first steps in the extension of the existence of the human race.

DaFace 12-09-2020 04:53 PM

ROFL

Well, it actually outperformed expectations! I fully expected them to have to abort it over water.

GloryDayz 12-09-2020 04:53 PM

Need a code tweek I suppose.

2112 12-09-2020 04:53 PM

Should hit the brakes a little earlier

Donger 12-09-2020 04:53 PM

Altitude is life, boys!!

Donger 12-09-2020 04:54 PM

So, where's SN9?

:)

My understanding is that it's actually REALLY close to ready to go. We could see it fly before the end of the year.

GloryDayz 12-09-2020 04:56 PM

They cut the feed. Ugh.

arrowheadnation 12-09-2020 04:57 PM

the only thing it didn't do was land. It hit the landing pad on the dot. Just needed more propulsion to slow it down. I mean, when they assumed it would blow up during the flight, that was pretty impressive. SN9, you're up!
