Diggs and Shakir were WIDE OPEN on the last two plays.
Josh Allen is just a born choker. |

Bills fans can throw dildos, snowballs and themselves on flaming tables. You're just a sideshow. Josh Allen is the face of that franchise and he's comfortable being the loveable looser. It's his comfort zone. Josh will turn the ball over and slump on the bench
|
Watched the highlights of the playoff game again. It was evident that Spags didn’t respect the Bills vertical deep game. He constantly lined up in cover 2 but didn’t have the 2 safeties more than 20 yards back so they could help cover the TE’s.
Worthy would have made that offense immensely more dangerous based on his speed alone. I just don’t get it. I’m glad they let us have him but Keon Coleman is perplexing for that offense. |
Quote:
He's big and physical and won a lot of 50/50 balls in college, but he also didn't pull them in at a special rate or anything like that. When you're not separating down the field, and all you're really doing is running a go route where you try to win a jump ball, that becomes kind of predictable and easier to defend, IMO. To me, he duplicates what they already have Dalton Kincaid doing. He and Kincaid and Shakir are all guys who work best underneath and short/intermediate. Will be interesting to see how they make it work. |

Good for him. He's really been blessed with the QBs he has played with during his career - rogers - mahomes - allen. Can't do much better.

Funny as that may seem, with all this mess, that the QB is the only thing that's really working good, and his brain is clear as a bell, don't ask me how. So, to be clear, THIS is the season the Bills take the AFC???

Last off season was about questioning Lamar. This off season looks to be questioning Josh. Keeping McDermott may lead to Allen following Diggs' lead & wanting out.

Meh. Lamar was always questionable as far as being a pocket passer. Josh can play from the pocket. I don't think he's elite in that regard, but compared to Lamar he's Steve Young. Josh's problems have been he has a defensive HC with an insecurity problem, and a lack of appropriate weapons. For a few years Diggs was his security blanket, but then Diggs started to meltdown or whatever happened. Last year Josh's OC found ways to win without Diggs, so I'm guessing he's matured enough that he doesn't need a top-10 WR anymore to bail him out every other play, the way Tua or Hurts do. We'll see how far Josh has come this season when defenses no longer have to commit double-teams on Diggs. |

|
Quote:
Last year he had Kincaid/Diggs/Knox/Davis/Shakir/Cook, along with good tackles and a solid all around OL. The fact that fans complained about a lack of weapons only proves that Allen isn't nearly the "Superman" he's said to be. |
Allen played well enough to win in the 13 seconds game, but so did Mahomes. The other playoff games between these Bills and Chiefs have been different. Allen did not play well enough to win in those games. The AFC championship game was not close and the most recent playoff game really was only close in the final score. Even if the Bills had made the field goal to tie the game, they left Mahomes with way more than enough time to drive the field for a game winning score. Allen has been good. Mahomes has been better.
|
Quote:
When I say 'inappropriate weapons,' I'm not talking about the relative talents of his WRs. It's a fact that he didn't have a running game the last couple seasons. The OL was a part of that, but empirically they didn't run the ball effectively with the journeyman RBs they had, unless Josh ran the ball consistently. They didn't seem to know how to use Kincaid very well. Gabe Davis turned out to be their version of MVS. Fast, but not reliable. On top of all of that, their OC didn't seem to know his job. Their season turned around last year after they fired that guy and started running the ball more consistently. A large percentage of that was Josh taking off more often, iirc. Another piece was basically using Diggs as a decoy, or so it seemed, considering his yards/gm went from 80+ to 40/gm. And that was a seachange from how he approached the game since Diggs became a Bill. At the beginning and until half-way through last season, Josh just found Diggs and threw it at him; he didn't really have a plan B. Sometime after they fired their first OC, Josh started to consistently find other receivers. And they ran the ball a lot more consistently. I think that was a big part of their success in the last half of the season. All of that said, I never said Josh was Superman. Obviously at the start of his career he was an incredible athletic talent with a 10-cent head. I think he's progressed from that, but I still believe he's not near Pat in terms of football IQ. To me, he's kind of Cam Newton with a much better arm. The question this season will be can he progress beyond Cam Newton level football IQ, or no. Because they won't have Diggs to create problems for defenses. No more double teams or rolling coverage towards Diggs, leaving everyone else 1v1. Defenses will be able to come at him with more disguises and different looks. it'll be interesting to see how he handles it. |
Allen is 28 now. He going to have to freeze some of his eggs. If he wants to lay them in some Buffalo Super Bowls

With a solid defense and a QB that makes plays the Bills will again be in the playoffs. Possibly win that division since the Dolphins are their only real threat... |

Aaron Rodgers is skipping mandatory minicamp bc he prefers to be somewhere other than football, Haason Reddick apparently hasn’t even spoken to Saleh? Did I mention Nate Hackett, who the Jets wanted to replace last year, is still running the offense? The Jets are a goddamned circus dude. You really think they are gonna win that division? Patriots clearly in rebuild mode this year so count them out and the Dolphins are the worlds biggest cock tease that Buffalo has owned. Tua is overrated. Bills aren’t great but they still have Josh Allen. In this division it will probably be enough. |
Allen is the 2nd best QB in the league. Bills will likely win the division.

Yes, absolutely. And they don't have Patrick Mahomes or Andy Reid. Allen hasn't proven that he can do the patient death of a thousand cuts offense like Pat, and Brady hasn't shown that he's in the same stratosphere as Andy. |

The thing is, they were absolutely depleted down the stretch anyways, so year, Barrett and the guys they've added are at least better than the street FAs they were trotting out at the end of the season. I was talking about the division as a whole though. It's not even debatable that the Jets and Pats got better. |
Yeah, with Rodgers effing around, hard to see the Jets winning that division, and the Dolphins are a big question for me.
Seems like the division might be an easier path for the Bills this year, even though the team may be taking a step back overall. I'm skeptical Shakir can be quite as productive as he was in the second half of last season because he's going from being the slot guy to being THE guy. I expect them to run a lot of 12 set stuff and try to emphasize Kincaid's role (buy Kincaid, buy Cook in fantasy), but I don't really view Dawson Knox as a difference maker on his own (he's a competent TE but more of a Noah Gray sort). But I don't know that Coleman can thrive outside as a rookie, and I don't know that Shakir can, either. They've got a bunch of slots. Claypool is an outside guy, but other than that their next 3 receiving targets are really guys best employed from the slot. That... uh... is interesting. |
Shitkur is a 3 at best on most teams.
|
I’m a huge Drake Maye fan, but yeah they’re gonna bring him along slowly IMO. Patriots are rebuilding their team. Probably a 6 or 7 win team
