8 years ago today:

Hosmer in the 11th. Game 2 ALDS vs the Angels, in Anaheim. Game was tied 1-1. A tense playoff thriller.

I was on the road, listening on the radio in the 11th. And then “WHACK”!!
The sound of bat striking the ball was incredible. You knew it was a jolt.

And when I finally saw the highlights, Hoz rounded 1st and put on the Superman cape. LMAO

In 150 fewer PA too. I hope Witt sees that and gets angry and expects better next year. Now he’s 1 year younger which is huge and he didn’t drop a massive turd like Torkelson but he needs a 1.5+ war spike next year

Waters stuffing the stats again

People that want to sign Bobby to a big money long term contract right now are crazy if you ask me. He hasn't proven that he deserves one just yet, and you know he wont sign a team friendly one with his hype and name recognition. Its in the best interest for the Royals and probably even Bobby Witt Jr to wait. If Bobby improves his defense or shows he can play 3B well it will all work itself out.

He is definitely heating up.

All hail Zumwalt

Greinke finishes the year with a 3.68 ERA. Not too bad. He's not going to qualify but if he did he'd be 15th in the American League in ERA. Not elite maybe but definitely a guy you'd want in your rotation.

There are areas Witt needs to improve, defense, plate discipline... but he also has shown the talent. 20 HR and 30 SB as a rookie. That's tough.

Mellinger had a tweet today, the last four guys to go 20/30 at Bobby's age:

Mike Trout
Alex Rodriguez
Barry Bonds

You could not draw up a more impressive list than that. The raw talent is there.

I hope he’s back next season.
