I think having Tyreek Hill has colored people's idea of 'separation' in an unrealistic way.

Bigger receivers win in a different way. It's not realistic at all to think a 6'3" 210 lb. WR is going to separate the same way the little speedsters do. It's a different skillset. Think about how Chase burned Ward on his record setting day. Did he have a lot of separation? No, mostly, Ward had great position, Chase just ripped the ball out of the air anyway.

That being said, a guy like Ross (if healthy, and again, this is a HUGE if) will win reps more like an AJ Green/Mike Williams type.

If you liked Drake London in the draft, then you should be thrilled that we picked up Ross, who IF HEALTHY is like a better London, in my opinion. If you liked Pickens, then you should be pleased that we got a similar player (and better route runner) as an UDFA.

It's a low-risk, high reward flier on a kid with loads of talent that will have to prove himself. Starting with: Is he healthy, and can he stay that way?

Er that's why I said "FIRST TWO YEARS"!!...and not just 2018. You also have to consider the level he played at aswell.

Not sure what level of competition playing Alabama and Patrick Surtain in the National Championship game is considered to be - but in that game, as a true Freshman, sharing targets with Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers, and Hunter Renfrow among others, he put up 6 rec for 153 yards and a TD. Which was also better than any WR on Alabama (Jeudy, Ruggs, Waddle) put up.

I keep saying it:

It’s going to be epic

Absolutely spot on sir..he also torched Xavier Mckinney that day too and was only 18-19 years old when he did that.

Well I said I'd rather have Travis Jones, hardly a wild take.

This was my point too. He's not as fast and dynamic as Pickens but he's not a worse route runner, imo, and they have some obvious similarities in strengths. I don't disagree with DJ and Detoxing that he's a massive long shot, and maybe even healthy his skills don't translate, but I think his tape is a little more impressive for me. I appreciate Detoxing's breakdown though and his perspective, it's all fair.

I believe I read somewhere he hasn't been around the last few voluntary practices either.

Yeah i picked up on that a few days ago. Seems really odd for a UDFA to be missing any sort of team activity.
