Talented?

There are traits to playing QB beyond just throwing the ball hard or mobility (see Josh Allen).

Brady has lightning fast processing, elite ball placement, and his arm is very underrated (although he is no longer in his prime) as he spins the ball so well that he can move the ball to most areas of the field even in inclement weather.

Brady was very talented. He fell in that draft because just like today many scouts were focused on the wrong things.

It is also important that Brady came into the league at a time when the NFL was going through transition. The new QB's that were to rule next were largely cerebral Brady, Manning, Brees, etc.

Drew Bledsoe with his great size and rocket arm was no match for Brady who was still tall but had less arm strength but could find the open guy with amazing accuracy on short/intermediate throws.

Yep and their secondary was suspect to begin with.

They're hoping beyond hope that their pass rush can do it all because their secondary isn't going to get it done.

Ariens has confirmed that whitefield and broen won't practice this week which suggest both are still struggling. A reporter suggested their status will only be known closer to the sb. Whitefield on a bas ankle trying to cover Hill and Kelce? And whitehead is gonna be facinating..he plays then he's gonna be struggling..he doesn't then Andy will no doubt target the back-up. But will the media talk about the bucs secondary issues or be obsessed about Fisher? Lol we all know the answer :D .

LMAO especially with these answers and remembering Sammy Watkins sprinting by him with ease in the SB...

Their secondary doesn't matter. Can they get to Mahomes with the pass rush or not. Thats what it will come down to.

They got to Rodgers five times and he still put up 300 yards 3 td's and went to goal to go four times. That secondary is a real weakness even if their dl-line do well and eventually that d-line is gonna get tired just like san frans did and then it's showtime.

This is just dumb.

You can get to Mahomes and still get torched if your secondary is shit. The Chiefs will gameplan around the pass rush, which is much easier against a poor secondary.

Especially if you use a lot of motion/jet motion that forces the DEs to stay home for a fraction of a second before hitting that upfield pass rush.

The Packers don’t have the team speed to press the edges of Tampa’s defense with the threat of the jet sweep or pop pass.

Yes, Tampa can react to that by sending David or White crashing to follow the motion, but that could leave them 1x1 in space against Hill/Hardman with a head of steam AND it opens up space in the middle of the field for WRs/Kelce running back against the grain of the motion.

One thing on my mind is does Reid even really try to run the ball early on?

We have basically the OL from the Saints game and we are facing a similarly good front 7. In that first half, it was just pass after pass. Some play action, RB or TE chipping to help Wylie, but still passing. And then the 2nd half came, their front seemed worn down, and we ran it super efficiently if you recall. Both CEH and Bell, against a top flight NO run defense, just as TB is.

I think that’s probably the plan here. Test those DBs out early and often, wear that front 7 down and make their LBs play on their heels and not downhill where they are at their best.

Not if they have their base Dee in. Now if they open up in a dime package...

I thin a lot of people miss this point. Even a dominant defensive performance from the pass rush doesn’t always mean that the passing game will be shut down. Especially with Tampa’s secondary.

If we were at all reliant on running to set up the pass, then I would be extremely worried about this game. We aren’t, so I’m not.

joethomas 01-27-2021 04:28 PM

I feel pretty good about this game, much better than I did last year when SF looked like a powerful team on both sides of the ball. Tampa certainly deserves to be where they are, but I think we match up pretty well.

The hell? White on white is horrid. There's a reason we haven't done that for years.
