Would depend on the cost.

If he'd sign an incentive laden, prove it type of deal, yea his potential is off the charts but he's also constantly injured. Maybe getting him off the NY turf does wonders for him?

RunKC 03-04-2024 11:06 AM

Lot of talk that the WR’s in this FA will not get what they want bc the top guys are extended/tagged and the draft class is hurting their market

If Ridley's market gets to like 13-15 a year the Chiefs better be in on that.

Should make it that much easier to sign Mooney.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-04-2024 11:14 AM

The framework is in place for Mooney to take a prove it contract, as he should, with Kansas City

Jerm 03-04-2024 11:15 AM

The rumored number for Mooney (again rumored) is around $10.5 - $11 million...

I could see a team going north of that and I don't know if I'm paying him that.

Per year? Seems a bit steep.

It's just what prognosticators are saying on Twitter...I mean I could see it or more considering the lack of options in FA.

The Franchise 03-04-2024 11:18 AM

If you can get Mooney on a MVS deal....I'll take it.

Mecca 03-04-2024 11:18 AM

That's the Spotrac number is why they have him at 4-41.

Players will always go high, it’s part of negotiating. Why go low only to be offered lower?

Always ask for a lot.

SHOWTIME 03-04-2024 11:26 AM

We were interested in Evans too...at the end of the day he wanted to stay with that crap franchise.

MVS type contract for Mooney is just fine. The first year cap hit for MVS was only $5 million

The Chiefs were "interested." They were never going to pay that. Veach wouldn't even pay Hill 25.

Jerm 03-04-2024 11:38 AM

I'll be on an island with I already know but I'd 100% pay Saquon before Mooney OR Hollywood Brown....*shrug*

In58men 03-04-2024 11:45 AM

Here’s how it went

Veach: How much are you looking for?

Evans Agent: Shiiiiiiit, somewhere around 52 milly with 35 milly guaranteed

Veach: Cool, talk to ya later man.

This little convo means “Chiefs were interested”.

I would guess it was more like this:

Veach: How much is Mike looking for?

Agent: We're starting at $25 mil annually.

Agent: Hello?

Agent: Brett... hello? Damn AT&T!

I’d take Ridley in a heartbeat. He would fit perfectly opposite Rice and Kelce in this offense.

BossChief 03-04-2024 02:08 PM

We’re sitting here talking about 30+ year old FAs like Brett would have any interest at all in them in the first wave of FA.

Better bet but not the fit. I'd swing on Switft for half of what Saquon probably gets.

BossChief 03-04-2024 02:35 PM

The thought of a healthy Saquan Barkley in this offense is a fantasy that’s not worth imagining.

Saquon would be complaining 6 weeks in about usage

Salary cap move.

Their OL doesn't need great players anyway as they are now running the ball more and not good in pass pro anyway.

They can find a cheap road grader in the draft.

He should have fired his agents. They are going to play the same stupid games they did last year and he's going to end up signing with some shitbag team so the Katz brothers can get paid. It never ceases to amaze me just how dumb these athletes can be. Wish Chris had someone in his life to help guide him besides these dipshits.

Veach has signed a vet RB every year pretty much. Barkley would no doubt take our offense to a different level. I'd love it If Veach agreed.

Exactly! No matter how bad Chris said he wanted to remain, his agents want their share of his income. they will hold out for the biggest paycheck. Too bad.

We have drafted very well but mostly on defense.

Our WR draft picks other than Rice have been uninspiring.

We also have missed on project tackles.

The positive is that this class is loaded with WR and tackle talent.

A lot of people would probably say there's no way Veach would spend money on a veteran RB, but if the value and fit is there I think he'd do it. I don't know what kind of money teams are going to throw at Barkley, but signing a guy like him goes a long way to making this offense drastically better for a much cheaper number than signing a veteran WR.

Barkley is likely out of the question, but I wouldn't be shocked to see one of these other big name veteran backs end up here on a modest deal.

I would sign the right RB if the value is appropriate.

This offense is very dependent on Kelce and Pacheco.

If either break we are in big trouble.

What the **** does this have to do with Chris Jones?

How many times do you want to have the same arguments over and over?

I wanna see what Pollards number ends up bein. He's more fit to play in a committee and I think he'd be a good back to pair with Pacheco.

My confidence in Jones signing has been low since he made that comment...I forget the show...about how if they offer you a certain amount, it means they'll go a bit higher. Um Chris eventually there is a maximum to what a team is willing or able to pay.

How many times do you want to have the same arguments over and over?

I know this is hard for you because reading and writing aren't your strengths.

Message Board Tip:

Read the post that you made that I responded to for the clue.

An excellent article.

I was clearly responding to the concerns about Chris Jones, you respond with something that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

We get it. You aren't unhappy with the WR position, and even after drafting Rice, you still don't have much faith. It's your right to be a butt****ing moron that continues to doubt this FO while they continue to make the moves necessary for us to be a dynasty.

Many of the moves that made us a dynasty were made by people other than Veach.

He's a good GM but he didn't draft

Mahomes
Chris Jones
Tyreek Hill
Travis Kelce

He didn't hire Andy Reid or hire Spags.

It's absolutely hilarious that you still want to push this narrative even after Veach built the best defense in the NFL, and won a SB because of it, while you cried all season about the WR group.

I gave him full credit for that.

He also spent an enormous amount of resources to do that at the expense of the offense.

Let's see what he does this offseason but I am not a fan of making our #1 asset a game manager.

Are you a fan of winning Super Bowls?

Absolutely.

That's why I prefer moves that increase those odds, not lessen them.

Veach got bailed out by Mahomes and the coaching staff after he mismanaged the offensive roster last year.

Completely and utterly FULL OF ****ING SHIT.

This is what talking out of both sides of your mouth looks like fellas...

GloucesterChief 03-05-2024 11:03 AM

MM is mad that we Patriots our way to a super bowl title. Stomping feet because we didn't win by enough points!

Yea, I'm tapping out while your dumbass is trying to claim that you gave Veach "full credit" for building an elite defense, while simultaneously claiming that he was bailed out by Mahomes this past year.

You're as bad faith as it gets.

Nah, your point sucks ass. Veach's defense is what bailed this team out all year long when it was needed.

You can argue that the team wasn't balanced as well as we'd like, but they still accomplished the ultimate goal so how much are you really gonna take away from the guy?

I don't know what kind of money teams are going to throw at Barkley, but signing a guy like him goes a long way to making this offense drastically better for a much cheaper number than signing a veteran WR.

Barkley is likely out of the question, but I wouldn't be shocked to see one of these other big name veteran backs end up here on a modest deal.

The success of Mccafrey should give Veach less pause hopefully because imo Barkley could be just as impactful in KC as CMC is in San Fran. But obviously it's a matter of how much Barkley wants. If he wants to reset the RB market then it's not an option. But If he wants a chance to win then maybe something could happen.

You can make a football point any day now....

Show us your thoughts other than weak wannabe groupthink.

Maybe that works in Canada but...
