Gotta admit I'm digging the Jets' crowd tonight. They're amped up.

Where the hell is everybody...... oh, it's 2 on 4, they must be sitting back. Oh, now the Jets have a 4 on 2.... :banghead:

I’ve been to the Winnipeg arena on a couple occasions. It’s loud. Really loud

Tundra Scout 04-23-2024 08:12 PM

What’s crazy there has not been one overtime game yet although the Panthers and Bolts could be heading to one. Tied at 2 with 5 to go

Tundra Scout 04-23-2024 08:20 PM

Finally an overtime game coming up

Bearcat 04-23-2024 08:20 PM

All 3 of penalties have been odd, not helped by ESPN's replays.... never did see why Hellebuyck fell backwards like he did for the first Jets PP. The 2nd Avalanche penalty wasn't exactly a trip, but can definitely see why they saw it that way. And didn't seem like much of a hook on the replay of the Jets penalty, if there was one at all.

But again, would be nice if ESPN showed better replays (like when it took them half an hour to show the goalie cam the other night).

Tundra Scout 04-23-2024 08:38 PM

Last time it took this long to have an overtime game was back in ‘97

Fish 04-23-2024 08:50 PM

Wood.

DaFace 04-23-2024 08:51 PM

What a bizarre goal. I'll take it though.

Bearcat 04-23-2024 08:52 PM

Bit of a brain fart by Hellebuyck, I'll take it.

Bearcat 04-23-2024 08:55 PM

Makar takes a dive. /Leafs fans

Tundra Scout 04-23-2024 08:59 PM

That was pretty

Bearcat 04-23-2024 09:00 PM

Not great, needed more urgency to match the Jets there.

....and then that happens.

DaFace 04-23-2024 09:00 PM

Well, can't fault Georgiev for that one.

Bearcat 04-23-2024 09:02 PM

I don't get that PP at all... the Avalanche spent 3 minutes just sitting back and the Jets weren't having any of it. And then they had a few rushes and would back out to setup again. They're so well known for fast, crisp passing on the PP and were in no hurry at all.

It’s amazing how some pucks get through all that traffic. This is definitely must see hockey. I watch them all but this was the one I had circled

Fish 04-23-2024 09:16 PM

Avs deserved that freeby. Frustrating game...

DaFace 04-23-2024 09:17 PM

Hellebuyck has looked great except when he's looked like ass.

Tundra Scout 04-23-2024 09:17 PM

He was not going to be denied. I was a season ticket holder for UND Fighting Sioux when Parise played there. Instantly became a favorite because of his work ethic. His dad was one of my first players I followed when he played for the North Stars

When the Blues won the cup, he made it possible. And as is his custom, the stats aren't even that bad. But he was always good for a bad goal when the Jets just couldn't have it.

But I don't fear him at all. He's a guy who's always appeared to be lesser than his stats.

I have no idea how that happened

DaFace 04-23-2024 10:07 PM

Georgie is giving me a glimmer of hope he can pull it together...

DaFace 04-23-2024 10:20 PM

Woot. We have a series.

Fish 04-23-2024 10:20 PM

Props to Georgiev. Stepped up when he needed to. 1st period looked shaky for everybody. But the team really figured it out and played solid. Back to Denver in great position.

After giving up an early goal he was lights out. Sure changed the feel of the series a bit compared to after game 1

Yeah, they weren't matching the Jets' energy for good portions of the 1st and into the 2nd and seriously turned it around after that shit 4 minute PP and giving up the 2nd goal.

The Jets are deeper and I think it shows, but there's an extra day off before game 3 and a good opportunity to put some pressure on them (and pretty sure MacKinnon and Makar aren't human and don't ever get tired).... hopefully Girard will be back, but with Drouin already out they don't have much room for injuries on offense.

I didn't watch the 3rd, but want to go back and watch post-2nd period PP again sometime... it was such a huge swing, it almost didn't feel real. LMAO

Fish 04-24-2024 08:37 AM

In case anybody missed this save yesterday. Just amazing natural athletic ability that cannot be taught...

Much as I hate on Marchand, he's a hell of an offensive hockey player, no pun intended. Makes a lot of plays and brings it in every game.

Extremely high IQ player, yeah. Also very hateable.

Megatron96 04-24-2024 06:34 PM

Noice. Very slick goal. But just shaking my head at how hard it is to score in this game. Both teams are playing great D.

Just to carry it across the line and have any time to look and do anything has been rare.

KC_Connection 04-24-2024 06:52 PM

You simply can't allow a goal like that in that spot if you're Samsonov. Unacceptably bad.

Tundra Scout 04-24-2024 06:56 PM

At my cabin with no tv currently so listening on xm radio. Sounded like Reaves was throwing his weight around

ssdd, lol. He would've made a heck of a LB. :D

Megatron96 04-24-2024 07:40 PM

Dang. I've somehow missed the last two goals.

Megatron96 04-24-2024 07:47 PM

KC_Connection 04-24-2024 07:50 PM

Standard Leafs playoff loss. Shitty goaltending and Marchand getting it done in the clutch.

Like I said earlier, Marchand is a hell of a player. Just want to punch his face so damned much.

Tundra Scout 04-24-2024 08:20 PM

I missed the entire 2nd period making/eating dinner. But it's been a good game here in the 3rd.

Megatron96 04-24-2024 10:01 PM

Wow, DAL goalie is playing out of his mind right now. Great pair of saves.

Megatron96 04-24-2024 10:26 PM

Dangit. Can't buy an OT game.

Tundra Scout 04-25-2024 05:56 PM

7.5 to 1 odds right now for Vegas to win it all, same as Edmonton. Leading favorite now is Carolina at 4.25 to 1, with FLA and NYR close behind.

Fish 04-26-2024 08:34 PM

Yep, they look good... physical game (Trenin in particular hitting anything that moves), good break outs, crisper passing, and skating well.

First two games were boring as hell (until the last 3 minutes of the Canucks/Preds), but this one with Oilers/Kings should more than make up for it.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 09:05 PM

MacKinnon is so damn strong on his skates... if you're going to cut him off along the boards, ya gotta do better than what the Jets have tried a couple times.

DaFace 04-26-2024 09:14 PM

Oof.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 09:18 PM

Kings have some work to do... they need a Kane or Nurse double minor.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 09:40 PM

Playing well and unfortunately Hellebuyck has been better up to this point.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 10:08 PM

Good job getting it right on the high stick... not something you see in many leagues in terms of reviewing penalties.

Fish 04-26-2024 10:09 PM

Ouch, that was a lot of blood.

Capitalize!

That line has been great tonight.

DaFace 04-26-2024 10:22 PM

I like it when they take penalties (though I prefer it when it doesn't require injuries to our guys).

Bearcat 04-26-2024 10:28 PM

Wow, what a 3rd period.... goooood shit.

(and thanks for the implosion, Jets)

DaFace 04-26-2024 10:38 PM

I don't love the one that snuck under his pad, but overall I can't complain about Georgie tonight.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 10:39 PM

11-4 the past two games and 10-2 since the halfway point of game 2 (with 90 seconds left).

Yeah, I think a shot like that is more flukey than anything, even given how poorly he played for the first ~4.5 periods of the series... but then I also worry about one goal becoming another and then another...

Man, what a turnaround from game 1 (and the two weeks prior)... they were feeling it tonight, even before the 3rd period.

Bearcat 04-26-2024 10:45 PM

Happy the players can always work out their differences in a meaningful way before the next game.

DaFace 04-26-2024 11:24 PM

Dillon on the Jets was badly cut on his hand by a skate in the scrum at the end. It almost has to be a series ender if not a season ender. So dumb.

Here's a screen grab, but it's borderline NSFW.

Fish 04-26-2024 11:36 PM

The way Dillon left the ice made me think it was pretty bad. The tweet you linked is already gone, but I got this still from the broadcast. Huge gash on his hand.

This is all I've seen. Sounds like maybe not as bad as it looked? I'd still be very surprised if he plays again this series unless it somehow only cut his skin.
