The Franchise 03-07-2024 11:12 AM

I went in assuming that Jones is a Chief and we traded Sneed to the Lions for 29.

29. Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
32. Traded down with the Patriots. #32 and #172 for #34 and #104
34. T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
64. Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
95. Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale
104. Cam Hart, CB, Notre Dame
133. Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
158. Brandon Coleman, OG, TCU
250. Anthony Gould, WR, Oregon State

We'd all be pretty content with this one, no?

Morgan's going to be a really good football player, IMO. Maybe not a LT, but I think he'll be an awfully good RT (and maybe a good LT) and worst case scenario is that he's a damn good G, IMO.

Mostly I think PFF let me be too greedy on my trade downs in the first round and that let me get Walker and Sweat with 'found money' in the 3rd round.

I was thinking of going on trenches binge in my offseason variation 2.0. We'll see.

DenverChief 03-09-2024 11:25 PM

Only did the first 3 rounds first time I went:

#1 -32 - Xavier Worthy - WR Texas
#2 -64 - Xavier Legette - WR South Carolina
#3 -95 - Christian Jones - OT Texas

Second try

#1 -32 - Adonai Mitchell - WR Texas
#2 -64 - Ladd McConkey - WR Georgia

#3 -95 - Christian Jones - OT Texas
Uses his hands well, with good hand placement to maximize his powerful punch. Jones shows impressive coordination between his upper and lower body when moving in pass protection. Shows good quickness and flexibility on reach blocks, and Jones has enough range to get out as a puller.Has the feet to adjust when he anticipates what's coming. Effective trapping and bends at the knees with adequate core strength to absorb the bull rush. Can clear a path at the second level if he hits the target. Jones will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where he could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.

#4 -131 - Issac Guerendo - RB Louisville
The transfer out of Wisconsin is an ascending running back prospect who was finally able to get enough carries to show what he's capable of. Guerendo is built like a prototypical Badger runner, with a thick, well-proportioned frame. He was a much more decisive runner in 2023, but his cut-and-go burst is fairly average. He's not sudden but runs with appropriate elusiveness, using subtle side-steps to continue the run's downhill momentum. He can catch it out of the backfield and protect his quarterback, making him a suitable three-down backup. Guerendo's size, skill set and demeanor are built for an NFL workload, and he could sneak into a bigger role in the future if he continues to progress.

#5 - 158 - Xavier Thomas - DE Clemson
Thomas explodes off the line with a quick first step, with agile feet to counter inside and closing burst to finish plays. His fluidity and speed allow him to cover a lot of ground when dropping back into zone, and Thomas is capable of turning and running with tight ends.He has an excellent motor and shows the stamina to last deep into the fourth quarter. He shows good quickness off the line of scrimmage and flashes the violent hands to win around the edge. He’s flexible enough to bend the edge, and he’s at his best when he can use his quickness and change-of-direction abilities to counter back inside.

#5 - 172 - Dallen Holker - TE Colorado State
Pass-catching tight end who exploded on the scene at Colorado State after three years of pedestrian production at BYU. Holker lacks the size and grit for in-line blocking but can handle positional blocks in space. He has average play speed but might be able to crank it up a notch with better attention to it. Holker has the focus and ball skills to make the contested catch and should be capable of running most first- and second-level routes a team needs. Holker's production provides a window into his pass-catching ability, but he's a very limited blocker and appears to have a ceiling as a TE3/4.

Glad I’m not the only one with a Texas heavy draft lol

Woogieman 03-10-2024 10:01 AM

NFL Mock Draft DB, assuming Sneed goes to Indy for #46

32) Xavier Worthy (looking less likely he will still be here)
46) Kris Jenkins (high character, high motor, vg athlete)
64) Mike Hall Jr (good interior pash rush, D line stacked for a long time)
95) Kiran Amegadjie (prob won't do much in yr 1, but LT of the future...hopefully)
131) Theo Johnson (lots of potential)
158) Jaylin Simpson (good athlete with versatility S/CB)
172) Tanor Bortolini (Allegretti replacement in-waiting)
252) Kamal Hadden (had elite stats last year in coverage...good project for yr 2)

decent injection of talent...if Worthy or Coleman are not there at 32, my hope would be to trade down a few spots for a team with a Nix/Penix boner and grab an additional 3rd or 4th, maybe get a starting-caliber IOL in 2025 or a Devontez Walker

Definitely...the mock simulators I've tried have had it about 50/50 that Morgan is there at 32. I tried trading our 64 and 95 to get up higher for a WR, but even at 50 the best I could get was Pearsall. Although I was able to get Malik Washington later.

That would be a dream draft if that could be pulled off. I just doubt that Morgan is there at 39. The big BYU kid might be though. I would still prefer to nab Morgan. Anything after that I think we can go BPA whether that is WR, DL or CB.

Do we have any 2025 draft picks left?

VAChief 03-26-2024 11:13 AM

PRN Mock Simulator-no trades- wouldn't mind this outcome, would have preferred a different WR at 64, but like the value with Wilson, Wright and Johnson. Adds some explosion to the offense. Austin Reed could be a sleeper to add to QB depth in addition to whoever they get as a veteran QB2.

32.Jordan Morgan
OT Arizona

64.Xavier Legette
WR South Carolina

95.Johnny Wilson
WR Florida State

131.Jaylen Wright

159 Theo Johnson

173.Elijah Jones

227.Austin Reed
QB Western Kentucky

Did a couple of trades on the NFL Mock Draft Database site, I could live with this but I am a well known ID 10 T when it comes to these things.

32: Nate Wiggins CB Clemson
64: T'Vondre Sweat DL Texas
111: Jermaine Burton WR Alabama
131: Cade Stover TE Ohio State
139: Zak Zinter IOL Michigan
159: Tommy Eichenberg LB Ohio State
173: Javon Foster OT Missouri
185: Javon Solomon EDGE Troy
221: Dylan Laube RB New Hampshire

NFL Mock Draft Database (Yes please)

1.32 Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington. I would race/laugh to the podium.
2.45 Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina. Second round bulge of WRs was going, moved up using the extra 3rd in 2025 + 2024 2nd + a Day 3.
3.71 Maason Smith, DT, LSU. Moved up again to nab Smith. I'm still intrigued by his size, athleticism, and upside. Some pick swapping in 24 and 25 movement involved (other 25 3rd now gone).
4. 104 DJ James, CB, Auburn. James has the length and speed KC looks for. Just a stab, but think they'd go this route on Day 3 for someone that fits. (Got this pick in the trade for 3.71)
5. 131 Beaux Limmer, IOL, Arkansas. Insurance for Smith and Humphrey. Huge and athletic IOL.
5.159 McKinnley Jackson, DT, aTm. Big space-plugger. Just going BPA at this point.
7.221 Cornelius Johnson, WR, Michigan. He's got nice size and speed and explosiveness. Worth a shot towards the end.

I'd be absolutely giddy. And the NFL would be absolutely ****ed.

Did some maneuvering to get a stud WR and break Bills' fans hearts again. Got the 14 from the Saints, then traded back to the spot in front of the Bills and snatched BTJ from out from under them. Side note: Didn't pick him in this mock but I'm really warming up to McConkey.

Most likely a top 5 pick in 2025, so that might be tempting (hypothetically)

Only trade was trading one spot back in the 4th to pick up 207. Ngl, I would really like this draft. I figure Guyton and Zinter can develop (and heal for Zinter) for a year before starting. Burton and Cowing bring some things we don't have currently with Rice and Kelce. Sinnott has a chance to be pretty solid for us, maybe even a Kelce replacement years down the road, plus we get some good depth from Boyd and Richardson on the defense

64 Roman Wilson WR
66 Christian Mahogany OG
86 Jermaine Burton WR
104 Jarrian Jones CB
159 Javon Baker WR
227 Qwan'tez Stiggers CB

I traded down to get 2 extra top 104 picks. With Rice's status up in the air, 3 WR's seemed reasonable. Plus all three have a chance to help. Mahogany will shore up the guard position. Rather resign D. Smith but. Both cb's will be all pro. :-)

From NFL Moc Draft Simulator -

32) Tyler Guyton - OT, Oklahoma

64) Xavier Legette - WR, South Carolina

108 trade down) Jermaine Burton - WR, Alabama

132 trade down) Ben Sinnott - TE, Kansas State

159) Will Shipley - RB, Clemson

173) Mason McCormick - IOL, South Dakota State

176) Khristian Boyd - DL, Northern Iowa

221) Hunter Nourzad - IOL, Penn State

230) Decamerion Richardson - CB, Mississippi State

Did a couple of trade downs to get extra picks. But what that made me realize is that we really don't need extra picks this season. Our roster is as stacked as it ever has been going into a season, imho. After the Shipley pick, I was trying to figure out where we needed depth, and no position group really had me concerned. Good problem to have, if I'm mostly correct.

GloucesterChief 04-13-2024 09:36 AM

IOL needs depth. Need a 4th LB that can cover (I like Kitan Oladapo as a S convert to LB). Perhaps another late round CB to put into the pipeline.

Nearly took a 'backer with the McCormick pick. I think they're pretty high on the kid whose name escapes me at the moment that got in to play against the Chargers in the last regular season game, so I passed.

Hard to believe Thomas fell this far, but I had to take him, even though Morgan was still there at OT. Decided to trade next years extra 3rd to move up to 58 to take OT. The rest of the draft fell with some nice values as well.

Traded #32, #131 and a 2025 1st to move up to #19 with the Rams.
19. Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU
64. Brandon Dorlus, DE, Oregon
Traded #95 and a 2025 4th to move up to #83 with the Rams.
93. Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale
159. Jared Wiley, TE, TCU
173. Isaac Guerendo, RB, Louisville
221. Dylan McMahon, OG, NC State

Don't think I really gave up a ton to move up and grab BTJ. There wasn't much around in the 2nd round and nobody offered up any good trades. Dorlus at least adds another pass rusher to the mix since Omenihu will be out for a while. Kiran is your backup LT after bringing back Donovan Smith. Wiley can learn from Kelce. Isaac has the chance to push MEH off of this roster and OG depth in the 7th.

Yes, we're out a 1st and a 4th next year but we'll still have a 2nd and two 3rd round picks to work with.

Lately I've been hoping those are our first three picks.

I want Wright, Benson, or Lloyd at RB! Great stuff!

BossChief 04-16-2024 07:52 PM

Yeah…after watching Simms breakdown of the WRs, I’m all in on moving next years first to go get him.

I think it’s very possible that he’s Julio Jones.

Final, post Rice fiasco mock, no trades

NFl Mock Draft DB

32) Amarius Mims (no way he falls this far, right?)
64) Legette (ditto)
95) Abrams-Draine
131) Leonard Taylor
159) DeWayne Carter
173) Luke McCaffrey
221) Delmar Glaze

As long as the Jets, Panthers, Cardinals, and Donkeys are still in the league, there is a miniscule chance Mims is available at 32 and Legette is available at 64

What generator are you using? I've run a lot of mocks where I got Mims and Legette. I'm almost exclusively using nflmockdraftdatabase.com and the results are very dependent on their draft board. It's also far too easy to trade up or down as long as the compensation is reasonable.

Same one...only recently has Mims dropped, but Legette has always been there at 64, though I don't think he will next Friday. The only other one I tried was PFN, but they basically have the same trade scenarios every time. I don't like unrealistic trades, but I think in reality, we have a shot at a trade down into the upper 30s due to Nix/Penix. That would be my most favored scenario...trade down the first, pick up another 38-60 pick, maybe a 4th or 5th in addition. As always, I'm not a fan of trading up, but this might be a good year to do so if they fall in love w/ a WR

I kind of like Nix and Penix being ranked right around our spot. It makes me believe that we could trade up in the first round with someone that is desperately searching for an answer at QB, but doesn't want to spend an early pick on either of them. Minnesota might make a good partner at #23 for such a trade if they're unable to trade up and don't get their QB at #11.

VAChief 04-18-2024 03:21 PM

Traded down with Panthers to 33 (gave up 32 and 64) for 33 and 39. Picked both Morgan and Amegadjie because I think Morgan can fill in at LT right away and if Ammegadije needs a year or two to groom Morgan can slide into Thuney's position.

Round 2, Pick 33
Ladd McConkey (WR)
Georgia

Round 2, Pick 39
Jordan Morgan (OT)
Arizona

Round 3, Pick 95
Kiran Amegadjie (OT)
Yale

Round 4, Pick 131

Khyree Jackson (CB)
Oregon

Round 5, Pick 159
Tip Reiman (TE)
Illinois

Round 5, Pick 173

Round 7, Pick 221
Jordan Jefferson (DT)

NFL MD DB
1.21 Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State
2.64 Michael Hall, DT, OSU
3.95 Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama
4.131 Jared Wiley, TE, TCU
5.159 Beaux Limmer, IOL, Arkansas
5.173 Jarrian Jones, CB, Florida State
7.221 Gabe Hall, DT, Baylor

I’d be pretty happy with this. Burton is a shithead, but you can handle a few here and there.

WR options at 64 were barren in this run, but I like the overall offensive infusion.

Here you go. Trade down, get Guyton. Trade back up for both Eagles seconds using future capital + 64. Draft an X, a Z, a flanker. Grab depth at IOL and Defensive interior with huge upside. Win.

The NFL Mock Draft Database gives me this outcome for the Commanders, which I think they would be really happy with. Any time you can pick up 18 new players and 32 draft picks (including six 1st round picks), that's a successful draft.

These were all trades that were offered to me, and nothing that I proposed or countered.

And before you say it, YES, this is racist lol

I'm also white, so I think I'm probably allowed to take a few cracks at my own.

This is actually the kind of big move I think could happen. I also expect 2 trades, Veach doesn't like to stand still.

KC_Lee 04-23-2024 06:35 AM

NFL Mock Draft Database with no trades

32 Adonai Mitchell WR (Again KC finds themselves needing to draft a WR high due to our current leading WR in legal trouble / limbo)
64 Kris Jenkins DL (A DL this high might be a reach, but we need to prepare for life after Jones and inject some youth in the D-line to rotate Jones out)
95 Blake Fisher OT (This is assuming KC does not resign Donovan Smith)
131 Jarvis Brownlee Jr. CB (Late round CB to bolster the DB room)
159 Zak Zinter IOL (I'm assuming either Thuney or Smith will be gone after next year, get some depth on the line)
173 Isaac Guerendo RB (Late round RB, low risk, potential good reward)
221 Xavier Thomas EDGE (Best value in the mock, maybe not needed with the depth we have a EDGE, but better to have and not need than need and not have)

Woogieman 04-23-2024 07:54 AM

4-23 (NFL MOCK DRAFT DB)...still trying to find a desperate, playoff-starved GM to trade into 32 for Nix/Penix, but doesn't seem to happen. Stilll traded down for an extra 4th...

39) Guyton (is he ready or do they need 1 more year from Donovan Smith? Am I selling Wanya short?)
64) Roman Wilson
95) T'Vondre Sweat
131) Mason McCormick
142) Cam Hart (trade down bonus)
149) Leonard Taylor
173) Isaac Guerendo
221) Anthony Gould

I like this one...two starters for next year's Oline, big upgrade on D-line, unsexy upgrade at WR (big hopes for good route runner Wilson) with a big wild card (Gould), and at WR, and depth at CB with 6-3" Hart to rotate in on big receivers.

Wouldn't hate this at all...Fautanu a permanent fixture for years, kick Wanya to RT, get rid of Taylor's salary asap, pick IOL in top 2 picks next year, win more.

Traded down to 35 since there were several prospects I liked at WR and Tackle available. Got another top 100 pick which turned out to be Sweat. Traded up a little to get Jaylen Wright who I like a lot. Not sure Wilson is the best value at 95, but like him as a unique threat. Could have gone IOL there which we need more depth, but all in all I would love this to fall our way. 3 guys who will likely play significant snaps their first year.

I like this too...No you likely aren't selling Wanya short, at the very least he hasn't shown he is ready. We need to plan to upgrade. I would still like to add a veteran like Smith, although I think he wants too much money, but there may be some Summer casualties we could pick up late to add veteran depth just in case.
