Assuming he did indeed kill Gabby by strangulation, seems like a fitting end for him.

Though as others have mentioned, it's probably more likely he killed himself and then the gators came for their supper.

Yeah, it's pretty far fetched to think that he was attacked. This article says that Florida averages 7 bites per year that require medical attention and roughly death 1 per year. Could it happen? Sure. But chances are he offed himself.

I don't know what they actually found, but you don't need much dna to complete a parentage test. It would at least confirm the body part was a piece of a child of theirs.

High school kids get live chickens and throw them towards live gators for entertainment. I’m surprised more gators don’t go after the bigger meal.

Gators are faster than humans for about 20 yards. There is plenty of food out there for gators is one reason you don’t see more gator attacks on humans.

His parents could have brought back a pack of hamburger with an Hawaiian driver's license certified with the name "Brian Laundry" stuck in it and the FBI would probably have bought it.

He was out there, he killed himself, the flood happened and covered up his stuff and him. The water went away and they found him. Honestly, what would most people's parents do if they loved their kid? Turn him in to face the death penalty?

Not saying they shouldn't be charged but a jury will have to decide to convict them.

I doubt they are charged with anything but they are liars for sure. I love my kids, both girls, but if they strangled to death another person in some nut ball fit of rage I would not let them off the hook. Love or no love, you should not do that because there is the victims family to consider. If the situation was reversed how would they feel and they knew Gabby for gods sake. She ****ing lived there with them.

What if he had killed another person while in hiding to keep his location secret? You just don't know what he would do. His parents took a real chance lying to the feds but they will most likely be free and just not liked.

They have no reason to tell the police anything, and are protected by law to not incrimate children. Even if they watched him do it, they never have to say anything and aren't committing a crime.

You were discussing breaking a law by lying to the FBI. Now you've moved the goal posts all the way to discussing being immoral in a conversation with a regular citizen. Even a Raider fan would know those are two very different things.

Depends how high the reward is. If you raised a shitty kid you might as well get a good payday.

Let's all have a moment of silence for a loss of good taste. A young woman was murdered, we are acting like it's ****ing new years that the douchebag offed himself and got ate by gators. It's no surprise that the Laundries knew exactly where he was and tossed a dry bag to mark the spot. Or someone else did and they knew where it was and told the laundries and they found it. Laundries going down for obstruction.

Every parent on this forum knows they would sacrifice themselves to save their kid. That's just the way it is.

This appears to be a crime of passion. He's not a serial killer thats going to kill someone else.

If its a case of someone else getting killed, totally different. The brother turning in the Unabomber for example. Then those additional innocent deaths on your hands too.

But, if the FBI has clear evidence that the parents covered up something, why have they not been arrested?

LongSufferingToady 10-23-2021 12:10 PM

Brian Laundrie had a history of violence. It wasn't just a crime of passion. You had two dysfunctional people (Brian and Gabby) who should never have been together. Gabby, by her own admission, had insecurity and disabling anxiety issues. She could not stand being alone. Brian, who pretty much had his own ADHD issues, needed downtime from stimulus. Mix together and we have this outcome where everyone lost.

:(

Impeding and obstructing an investigation is still a crime. It has been for a real long time and has ample precedent of being upheld.

Valiant 10-23-2021 10:26 PM

This is why we are ****ed. Conspiracies born out of the inability, whether it be intentional or not, to be able to comprehend what happened. And in a more plausible manner than the conspiracy itself.

Either way, it's a mental issue that should be looked into more than it is.

For the charged crime. He was NEVER facing charges of murder. He was facing charges of credit card fraud. If the parents obstructed the investigation of credit card theft than yes.
The parents cannot be held up on anything other than aiding someone who had committed credit card fraud.
They never charged him with murder and therefore doesnt transfer to the parents for aiding a murderer which is seems people want to tack on. They simply cant, because it was never charged.

It's a tragic, horrible story, but there's nothing about the facts which stands out from other similar stories. This kind of crime happens too often sadly. The physical appearance of the victim is what's driving the coverage. There have been many such crimes since she was killed. You're just not seeing them on national news.

It's definitely possible to plant DNA if one has the material. The pulp inside the teeth contain nuclear DNA. That would probably be used to confirm ID. Fingerprints can still be used postmortem as well.
