Hard to get an idea . Reviews are coming out and it’s about 50/50 of game is awesome, game is trash. I guess if a person has hasn’t played Madden in a few years, and they get 20, they’ll probably be pleased. But if a person played 18, then saw the shit show that 19 was, are they less impressed with 20?

I played Madden 18 a lot. Played Madden 19 for a couple hours.

Madden 20 is better than Madden 18 - player movement is SO slick, it's awesome, and the graphics are a big step up.

yup - they polished the engine a lot this year, got rid of the cobwebs - everything is nice and smooth in 4k and i don't even have the latest and greatest hardware

game looks AMAZING

Even if they didn't have an exclusive license, no one else is making an NFL game there's no money in it.

I think I still have my EA access on pc. I'll give it a whirl today.

One thing i have noticed about this year, is that almost all of my in completions are drops.
I can get the ball to the receiver, but receivers cant even be touched or they drop it.

Still, its a big jump over last year in quality of AI , how the player movement is etc

Madden has a lot of that with human control, in the sense that incompletions are just the WR not catching the ball.

They don't really do a ton of the "the qb just missed the throw" stuff because then people get pissed off about that but also if you are using Mahomes the high rated QB's rarely miss throws on there.

I really just worry I'm going to feel like I did last year with 19; played about 3 weeks, then didn't touch it again because it was broken.

on the Superstar mode.....how is the AI when you don't have the ball ? in 19 I played a season in CFM as a QB, for grins, where I only ran plays that the coach 'suggested' just to see what it would do and my RB ended up with like 600 yds on like 275 carries. Basically, it was absolutely pointless to call a running play as a QB in CFM.

It's better than 19, even if you ****ing hate Madden a guy who said it still wasn't good gave this one a 5 when he gave 19 a 2.

It's probably the best Madden of the last 5 years, problem though is when like Madden 08 was better is how it gets the 5.

i mean i've played two games and about 3 hours of practice mode and i haven't seen any gamebreaking bugs

Dev traits for Star+ players in franchise mode require 500 snaps to unlock. It resets back to 0 after every game. That's pretty gamebreaking.

If a game ends and you're not involved, you're stuck looking at the simulation screen with the clock at 0:00, whether you've won or lost until you turn it off. That's pretty gamebreaking.

Not to mention all the goofy glitches and obviously scripted shit.

The way I understand it your X Factor depends on what type of player you are. So a slot WR would get RACem Up, a deep threat WR would get Double Me, and a possession WR would get Max Security.

EA hasn't gained the benefit of the doubt with me.

Madden hasn't earned my $60 for the past 2 years and I'll wait until I get a thumbs-up majority from the player base before I reinvest.

Hell, I've run an online EA NHL league the past 12 years and I'm already starting to see cracks in that franchise as well. Shockingly, there's also no other competition for EA to pit themselves up against it on yearly basis as well.

The game won't end after the clock hits 0:00 even though there's a winner. Only way out is to restart the game, losing all progress in the process. It is not an exaggeration to say this is a game breaking bug.

All I can tell you is I've played for six hours and I am jonesing for more. I'll be picking it up tomorrow for sure - I want a physical copy.

I played last year for an hour and wanted nothing to do with it.

I've put in about 20 hours since its premiere launch on PC (last week). I've only played H2H in MUT, CFM and regs, haven't had any issues other than the zones playing like 6th graders and the broken 'arm bar' superstar ability which will be fixed. Unfortunately EA caters to the online competitive modes because that's where they make their extra money with the lootbox card packs. I can't remember the last time they put out a proper solo player superstar mode.

I dunno if it's worth the purchase. If you have a PC and have 5 bucks to spare you can do a free trial on EA access for 10 hours and try it before you buy it.

Gameplay feels sharper than Madden 19. Running instantly feels a lot better.

Are RBs able to run through a hole without getting sucked into a tackle animation that stops you dead in your tracks?

that's one of my frustrations when you hit a hole that's obviously there, and you get sucked into a defender who is engaged/being blocked and stops you in your tracks with an arm tackle.

Do you like running out of the shotgun because that is far more prevalent.

I mix it up pretty well. (in my mind at least). Can't recall off hand if the animation suction happens more in shotgun or non-shotgun formations.
mainly seems to happen when trying to run inside if memory serves.

and toss/stretch/power plays are seem to have the same issue when you have your DL or LB beat on the edge...I think I've got the outsie then the suction happens. Though, not 'as' often as running inside.

I'm mostly a sim player and try to have good run/pass balance; but 19 was really bad in the runing game . Of all the issues I had with 19..I think this running game/tackling suction was probably the biggest reason I just stopped playing after a month or so. If that could get cleaned up in 20, that would be huge for me.

The running feels better, the 19 run game was pretty horrible. But I will warn you, if you are going to use the Chiefs you should prepare to be in Shotgun constantly and you need to figure out how to use the shotgun run game or you'll struggle.

One change I wholeheartedly approve of is when you go hurry up, the play just starts and there's a runoff depending on how far back you are on the field.

Figure out the Inside Zone out of shotgun. That was my best run in 19, and with the improvements it's probably even better in 20.

That seems to be 50/50 on if people like it or not, a guy was saying taking 3 seconds to run a no huddle is totally unrealistic.

LMAO Watkins and Hitchens are getting cut immediately in Franchise. Those cap hits tho.

That's odd, I find Watkins easy to use.

He's fine, but they actually gave him his real contract this year. 19 and 21 million cap hits.

I am really liking this game

The flow is much better than past games. I really like how the game transitions from play to play or into a change of possession

The sound is much improved. The crowd is much better and you really get that feeling of Arrowhead when on Defense. Crowd noise has been dead in the past and is much much better. The sound of kicking the football is 100% dead on and hits sound good as well.

The game seems to play realistically stats wise (I play 8 min All pro sim). I typically end up with close to 300 passing yards with Mahomes and 30+ points. Unlike past Madden's, the games don't feel too easy or too hard. It feels like every play matters and one mistake and change the entire game.

Rocket linebacker seems to be fixed. I have only thrown a few picks and all of them were nice plays by the defensive player. I didn't feel cheated on any of them. 50/50 balls are much improved as well. In previous versions most 50/50 balls were picked but this year the receiver actually goes up to make a play on it. A lot of them are incomplete where in years passed they would have been intercepted while the receiver just stood there doing nothing

Player animations are a lot better..everything feels and looks real. There are a few glitches with players going through another player or a wall after a TD but can be patched.

I like the music they put in the game..music that you would hear at an NFL game and it plays nicely in the background and not too loud..They seemed to get the stadium sounds just right.

Running is still a bit tough but once you realize you have to be patient and read your blocks at the line you will learn to hit the right hole and start having some success

RPOs can be frustrating at first with offensive linemen downfield penalties. You have to throw the ball right away to avoid this.


I am enjoying the game, it feels and sounds much more realistic than previous years. I Recommend picking it up

Forgot to add..commentating could use some work. I've heard "He's stopped behind the line" as he picks up 8 yards a few too many times

The only game that ever really got the crowd stuff right was that old NCAA, may have been back in the PS2 days or at least the earlier 360 days where they had the crowd meter and if it got up high it would totally **** with the offense.

The screen would shake and all that.

I do fondly remember a Madden from about 10 years ago that had all the authentic crowd noise and TD songs from whatever is played in each stadium. Chiefs had a tomahawk chop chant if I remember right. That was great.

It was 05 on the ps2, the best thing about that game was how if you had a top crowd it would screw with the other team.

Or if your QB had bad awareness etc in a tough environment you'd get squiggly lines on routes and receivers with no icons.
