This team is far deeper and has a far more athletic back court than the team WSU spanked, but they don't have the top end player (that long haired pillowbitergot who it turns out was soft as shit).

Same shit different year though, get in their business and don't make mistakes and they'll struggle.

You may be right but who plays all half court sets only in the FF4. Lots of transition basketball.
I watched Gonzaga beat Duke in a good game earlier this year. They’re a little more flexible than past Zags teams. They can play every way and they are long/athletic everywhere.

Simply Red 03-28-2019 08:57 PM

these teams look sloppy tonight.

Simply Red 03-28-2019 09:10 PM

UVA finally looking like Virginia. Jeez man they were off the bulk of this 1st half.

Dude. I know there is transition in the tournament. There are also possessions where the other team takes away what you want to do on a play and you have to go make something happen. That's what WSU did to them, and that's how the other teams have gone down - sometimes in flames.

Eh, the other Zags teams won in a lot of ways, but they're all the same. They all execute and play smart ball, and aren't used to playing with physicality and can't score when the execution breaks down.

This team has a more athletic back court, but I don't think it's as good as that team with Morrison-molestache was. And these guys probably don't have the efficiency numbers that the team WSU beat down had. That team executed really well, but when you jammed screens, and bumped cutters they fell apart.

I might be wrong here, but I see a lot of the same things out of this Gonzaga team.

I only saw Virginia early in the season - they looked really freaking good - then I heard they almost lost in the first or second round - I didn't see that game. IF they happen to survive tonight, I'm not sure they can make the FF.

Agreed. Their style just doesn’t seem like it can win a tournament when they’re bound to run into a team that gets hot shooting or like tonight when UVA is playing great D but can’t make a basket

It doesn't obviously, but having played a pile of basketball, douche refs irritate me.

Plus it's just a weird thing to say.

It displays that the ref is letting emotion dictate his officiating.

It’s a bad sign.

I thought the foul on the 3 at the end of regulation in the Tennessee Purdue game was a bailout. Yeah he got him with the body as they were both about to land but it decided the game basically

He will be a monumental bust.

Wrong.

42% from 3 was the highest team percentage in the nation this year.

I’m a fan of Roy. I appreciate what he did at KU and respect what he’s done at UNC. But he did say he was going to retire at KU or something of the like and promptly left.

I don’t hate seeing them lose. Especially after skating on the cheating scandal.

I do legitimately worry about his health. Whatever he has isn’t “vertigo”.

Baby Lee 03-29-2019 10:02 PM

Dear Lord!!

Now. . . Someone explain to me how VATech got the inbounds at the end.

Saw the ball bounce inbounds. Saw the Duke player jump from inbound to retreive. Saw him throw it back in before he hit the floor OOB.

with the extra .5 second, was the argument that the ball hit the line on the first bounce?

TambaBerry 03-29-2019 10:02 PM

Didn't bounce inbounds.

-King- 03-29-2019 10:05 PM

He must not have known they put 1.1 seconds on the clock. That's enough time to grab the ball and either lay it up or dunk it. Only reason I see why he tried to just basically tip it in

tk13 03-29-2019 10:06 PM

Meanwhile Houston has taken the lead over Kentucky.

That's risky, cause you have to grab it at the apex to protect the ball then gather and go up again. Tip drill is the right play, he just botched it.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-29-2019 10:13 PM

These last two games are why K never went to the NBA. He can't coach or gameplan; his teams just roll the ball out and win with talent.

Mark Titus made some great points about him on The Ringer this week.

tk13 03-29-2019 10:19 PM

Houston doesn't do much better than Va. Tech. Chokes in the clutch and Kentucky wins.

why do today's players NEVER follow their shots to get boards? That was the first thing taught to us at Norm Stewart summer bb camp.

ROYC75 03-30-2019 05:32 PM

Don't believe that was a foul on Culver.

Then a loonng ass 3 pt by Gonzaga. You don't defend that shit, let him shoot it until he shows he can't miss it, That's way outside normal shooting range.
