Boy! The Royals sure kept things quiet regarding Dyson. He wasn't much this year and maybe he'll get more playing time in Toronto.

Man, I loved Danny Jackson. Two incredibly clutch starts in the 1985 postseason. |

However; I’d like to point out that it’s not called a “perfect inning” … it’s called an “Immaculate Inning”. I’ve always heard 3 pitches, 3 outs called the “Perfect Inning”. |

Then when we traded him, we picked the wrong effing shortstop. |

But BOTH were elite prospects. Think Larkin was drafted #4 overall, but they actually took Stillwell #2 overall before that. Think Stillwell was decent his first year here, but that was about it. Reds got one Cy Young worthy season out of Danny Jackson and then it was all downhill from there for him . . . . . |
They actually had a pretty long segment on MLB Network this afternoon talking about Salvy and whether he's a HOF'er. Compared his numbers to a lot of other great catchers past and present. The analysts seemed to think if he can keep hitting like this and he stays at catcher, he's on the trajectory to be in the conversation. Plus he's won a WS and was WS MVP. It was interesting to watch.

He's 31 and has 187 HRs. He might need to double that. This is his first season 30+HRs. First season 80+ RBI. .759 career OPS. Love to see it, but probably a real long shot... From Baseball Reference-- 28.2 career WAR, 22.4 7yr-peak WAR Average HOF C (out of 16): 53.8 career WAR, 34.8 7yr-peak WAR Yadi is retiring after next year...we'll see how he does in the voting in a few years... |

As a point of comparison, Yadi is 38, 42.0 career WAR, 168 career homeruns, 9 career gold gloves, two World Series titles and one silver slugger award. There are several national writers angling for Yadi to get in, who would absolutely kick open the door for Sal if he does. |
That was the interesting part of the conversation, they were talking like Yadi is almost a guarantee. But he's also considered the best defensive catcher of his generation so I get it. But if Salvy racks up another couple gold gloves and gets to 300 HR, he's going to have quite the resume. Maybe not the offensive resume of Mike Piazza and not quite the defensive reputation of Yadi but an outstanding career in both areas.
