You're such a ****ing reerun. People that bitch about David Glass being cheap have no ****ing clue about what they are talking about. For having one of the smallest markets in the league and will spend if Dayton can field a competitive team. Here's the payroll rank and record by year since 2013.

2013 - $84 mil/21st/86-77
2014 - $98 mil/18th/89-73
2015 - $126 mil/13th/95-67
2016 - $141 mil/14th/81-81
2017 - $148 mil/13th/80-82
2018 - $130 mil/20th/58-104
2019 - $101 mil/23th/39-66

$130 million out of his pocket for 104 loss season. Why in the **** would you expect Glass to spend more money? Glass has been a good owner and gets a bad rap.

@RoyalsFarm: Good morning. Hearing Nick Heath is on his way to AAA Omaha this morning. We’ll let you know if we hear any other corresponding moves in the mean time. Could be a precursor to a Billy Hamilton trade, theoretically.

I don't really see how this is actually possible. I would have thought it would be difficult for any player to throw higher than 92-93 mph unless training specifically as a pitcher. But perhaps being able to crow hop and running forward helps more than I think.

It does.

And another outfielder hit 100+ in the past couple days iirc

Sounds like Duda's cut and O'Hearn is coming up. He'll probably be sharing time with Cuthbert at this point. May the best man win.

This trade deadline has been totally dead, but Dayton is wheeling and dealing.

@MattEddyBA: Don't judge Dairon Blanco for his age. He signed out of Cuba prior to the 2018 season and began his U.S. career at high Class A Stockton.

He made the Cal League all-star team and was just beginning to find his stroke when he missed most of the second half with an injury. https://twitter.com/MattEddyBA/statu...02358525222914

@ClintScoles: Aquino is probably the land here if you can improve the control/command. At 26 Blanco probably doesn't have a lot more than who he is currently which maybe you can get a 4th OF type out of him. The OF is stuffed currently.

@JasonPennini: Here was Ismael Aquino from extended spring training. Mid 90s fastball, touched 96 w/run. Mid 80s CHG the best secondary. SL/CUT 85-87 chance to get to average. Projects to middle relief w/a chance for high leverage if SL/command take a step forward. https://twitter.com/JasonPennini/sta...288769/video/1

Maybe give Gordon a few days off here and there too.

The real "problem" will be if Mondesi comes back. It sounds like he's rehabbing at least. If he actually comes back there's going to be logjams all over the field, which is a pretty weird thing to say for a 100 loss team.

That's the world we live in now. Nobody wants to trade away anything of value. Look at this year, Dayton is literally about the only seller out here wheeling and dealing.

Manny Machado is a $300 million player and he got traded for 5 prospects last year... and only one of them was considered an elite prospect, and he's had to repeat AA and just fell out of the top 100 this year. And that was for Manny Machado.

Flanny: Ned conceded that Whit Merrifield will play more 2B until Adalberto Mondesi returns, especially now that Ryan O'Hearn is back, which will push Cheslor Cuthbert to more time at 3B and Hunter Dozier more time in RF.

But I get it

duncan_idaho 07-27-2019 05:15 PM

Blanco is interesting. Old Cuban. Has decent pop for an 80 grade guy (based on .458 SLG at AA).

When you’re trading a half season of a 6th/7th inning LOOGy, not getting a ton in return.

Perkins does take a ton of walks. I'd have to look up his stats but so far he's been a guy who isn't a great hitter for average but he does get on base to use his speed. He definitely breaks the Royals mold in that way. Usually we get speed guys that just hack away.

Dayton does good work when he zigs when everyone else zags. He's certainly re-dedicated himself to finding speed and defense to play to our park. Odds are all these guys are lottery tickets, so find one with an elite skill like speed and hope one of these guys can turn into a Jarrod Dyson type bench player.

Not sure if this helps the Ian Kennedy market. The Marlins traded their closer, their #23 prospect AND a player to be named later for the Twins #30 prospect... although the Twins prospect does seem to be a good hitter. Still, they're the seller and they gave up 3 guys to get him.

He's been fantastic. My friend in the Rangers' front office (former scout) said that he was bullish on Bubic above most of the pitchers in the middle of the 1st round and pushed hard for the Rangers to grab him with their first pick. Didn't get his way, obviously, but it was fun to get insight on how a few of their guys saw something in him that wasn't readily apparent to everyone else in their front office. Too early to tell how Cole Winn will turn out.

Not that I expect much from these types of trades, but just once I'd like one of these reports to say "solid hitter" or "some potential power." Instead, it's always "well, he's fast." Yay.

Moore needs to nail the draft each and every year, because it seems pretty clear we're not going to be able to find much talent elsewhere. I'm not sure that's sustainable with how hit or miss draft picks are.

If you keep your expectations really, really, low, you should be happy.

Went to the game...big crowd and Will Shields threw out the first pitch...it was downhill from there.

Cleveland's first baseman Bauers might have just made the worst throw home I've ever seen by an infielder. Chucked it 10 feet over the catchers head and allowed two runs to score.

tk13 07-28-2019 02:10 PM

Then their hothead pitcher Bauer got pissed and chucked the ball over the center field wall from the pitcher's mound when Francona took him out. Never seen that before either.

I like how Freeman jumped out of the way — he thought the ball was coming at him.

Never seen anything like that before. Trever disrespected his teammates and manager. He looked pretty embarrassed in the dugout as he should.

Bauer is such a punk and has been for a long time

I was praying we would light him up:D

Jeremy Guthrie did the same thing a few years ago

Marcus Stroman to the Mets. WTF?

At least it’s not the Yankees.

Great piece over at Www.royalsacademy.com about Brett Phillips adjustment (he switched to an axe handle bat).

Worth checking out.

Guess we'll see what the package is, but is this the Jays and Mets just teaming up to make sure he doesn't go to the Yankees?

ESPN Radio said it's the Mets trying to compete in 2020.

My dad took me to the game, he’s almost 80, wanted Gates for lunch. I asked him if he wanted something healthier. He said “No” then hung up on me.

Be interesting to see how the next few days go. We've all talked about how the trade market has completely tanked, but now the Padres don't even want to give up a top 100 prospect for Syndergaard, who isn't even a rental. He's got multiple years left on his contract.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">As <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Mets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Mets</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Padres?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Padres</a> continue discussing Noah Syndergaard, source says it’s clear San Diego will not include MacKenzie Gore in the trade — especially after the Stroman deal did not include a top 100 prospect per <a href="https://twitter.com/MLBPipeline?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MLBPipeline</a>. <a href="https://twitter.com/MLBNetwork?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MLBNetwork</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/MLB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MLB</a></p>&mdash; Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) <a href="https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/1155663276144881664?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 29, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
