That was an episode of DROIDS: CSI with a fistfight thrown in LMAO

I did enjoy the callbacks to Dune and Robocop. At least that's what they felt like to me. :D

Enjoyed the episode. Bryce Dallas Howard is become a pretty decent director for the SW Universe.

Also, very disappointed we didn't get a The Metal reference. Lol

I know it’s just a throwaway scene but when the fish guy has to leave, that entire thing was just really hard to watch in how bad it was. The droid thing was interesting but not a huge fan of how simple and easy and quick it was to resolve. I would have much rather had two episodes there instead of that one with those other two random characters filling almost the whole episode.

I've said it before but about 30 minutes into The Last Jedi a dark thought came over me...

"Oh no - is this movie bad? Because shit, I think this movie is bad..."

And it never got any better. Same thing happened like 20 minutes into Obi Wan. Meanwhile as I watched Solo after everyone said it sucked I'm thinking "Wait...what? This is pretty damn good!"

I try to give SWs the benefit of the doubt but they really have bummed me out a bit at times.

It was a live action RPG side quest you had to complete to advance your companion's storyline before you can get to the next stage of the main quest.

Have to say I hope we get to go back to droid city because I bet there are some hilarious NPCs there. Plus the hoop-toss minigame is fun as shit.

It felt like they were strolling along their merry storytelling way, and it hit them that they only have X number of episodes left this season, so they needed a fast forward episode to get shit moving towards the point of it all, even though the episode itself wasn't fast forward.

The plot line of this episode was convoluted and forced. It's as if someone told the writers what the last 5 minutes of the show had to be and gave them fifteen minutes to come up with a way to get there. Most of the episode was spent using weakly built stereotypes of each character in sloppily thrown together vignettes, loosely strung together by plot that was completely irrelevant. Grogu cutesy. Bo Katan leader. Mandalorian tough guy. Have those three interact with background characters. Woman appeased by cuteness. Key individuals acting without leadership. Bad guys doing bad things because no one resists them. Was the episode written by George Lucas? Can someone check?

No joke there. I also found it funny when he faced Jack Black and Flute Lady, whomever they were, and they told him he was banned to some moon and he sulks away all alone. At least they could have had drones escort him or had a police sort of presence.

Dude.

Why did the fish person have a whiny teenage accent and how do your effects people make it seem like it's coming from a disembodied head somewhere off screen and the fish person is trying to lip sync with it?

Let's set aside the expectations set by S1 and S2 for a minute, or Andor (both of which prove that these expectations are not 'unattainable') - that was 30 of the most cringeworthy seconds in Star Wars history. And this is a franchise that prominently features Hayden Christiansen and angsty middle school kibitzing about sand.

The bar for gag inducing in the SW universe is pretty damn low (high? **** it - you know what I mean) and yet that moment managed to get there with room to spare.

Is Flute Lady someone's kid?

Bart the Bear was a better actor than her. At first I thought it was an affect she was creating for the character then I realized in that later spot with her that, no, she simply can't act. At all.

Yeah this struck me as very ****ing odd. And if I recally, they did the same thing on Coruscant with that Calamari and maybe one in S2 on the fish planet? Or was it S1?

Base voice for all Calamari should begin with Admiral Ackbar. They should all be wheezing and gasping and husky like they have seawood lodged in their nasal passages.

Just lazy work. I could have ran the voice through a filter in Audition and made it sound better in 5 minutes.

I just googled "Jack Black Wife Mandalorian" and it came up.

Suddenly everything made sense.

mr. tegu 04-06-2023 02:31 PM

When that scene popped up my wife and I both gave a chuckle at the guest appearance, but not for the same reason. Me for Jack Black and her for Lizzo. She knew who he was after explaining but had no idea at the time and I had no idea that was Lizzo. Probably the first time I’ve ever actually seen that person longer than two seconds.

Meh. It's just not something I care to litigate.

The fish scene was real bad. No question. I didn't get ****all out of it. The whole Mercinary comment from Bo was enough for me.

Did it suck? Yes. Did it ruin the whole episode for me? Nope.

This isn't some paragon of excellent filmmaking. But to act like equivalent cheese hasn't been put out before. I don't know if you've watched Clone Wars or Rebels but I'd say close to 60% of the screentime of those is a monumental waste of time. There are some decent elements in there, and a lot of backstory in there, so IMO it is worth the look.

In fact, this ranks as one of my favorite Star Wars scenes, for whatever it's worth.

And the episode as a whole advanced the storyline.

I enjoyed Grogu being cute. I enjoyed the banter between Bo and Din. I especially enjoyed that they had to work together and the call back to Quell. The fight, I think worked. And the narrative of the Helgait character was actually kind of compelling. Yeah, he's a ****, but he may not be wrong. The backstory episode about Duku wasn't all that compelling, but certainly establishes a capacity to empathize with the dude, rather than him being a convenient bad guy in the prequels. And the bits of a backstory of counterculture within the larger society is kind of interesting.

On your recommendation I watched the Waco documentary on Netflix, and there are a few parallels between Helgait and David Koresh. Ultimately they did unforgivable things, but when you look at the big picture, they were dealt a shit hand and maybe not all wrong in their assertions.

That little bit of throwaway story telling is pretty good IMO.

They also did a decent job of potentially planting the seeds for Jack Black to be a covert bad guy, paralleling the Elia Kane storyline or him actually being a reformed bad guy in love with a princess that saved a world.

I dunno, I'm open to being wrong. It is certainly possible I needed some mindlessness in my life the day I watched it and watching Grogu cheat at space croquet scratched the itch for the day.

Buehler445 04-06-2023 02:49 PM

dlphg9 04-06-2023 10:07 PM

I didn't like season 1 much at first, but by the middle I was geeked. I really like this season, but maybe it's because of how much Ive liked previous seasons, so I will just praise it because of bias. I thought this season was better than season 1, so far.

Fish 04-07-2023 12:08 AM

I really like Jack Black. But his character in this was pretty awful. Along with the fatty. That was really bad. The whole episode just felt very off for some reason. Shame.

Frazod 04-07-2023 05:17 AM

It's starting to remind me of Lost a bit. A typical episode would spend about 10 minutes advancing the linear story and half an hour doing stupid flashback scenes. But here, instead of flashbacks, we get sidequests.

Thankfully I'm old enough to not be familiar with Lizzo - just thought that was a random bad actress. I also thought Lizzo was the one who is normal from the waist up, but has an ass the size of a big block V-8. Must be somebody else.

I know celebrities want small parts or cameo's in this. But Lizzo and Black took me out of the Star Wars universe. This episode was also being shot when the shit between Faverau and Kennedy was going down.

I think all of this will get back on track, Kathleen will be too busy as the CEO of the huge Disney conglomerate. John and Dave got control of Star Wars.

Luke precedes pulling his pants down crouching down to take a shit in the middle the scene taking Grogu to his X-Wing while inside the X-Wing he flips of the cast saying **** Jake Skywalker and flies off to parts unknown ready to face **** KK's darkside wokeness.

Indian Chief 04-10-2023 07:08 PM

I just finally got around to last week's episode...holy shit. 35 minutes of absolutely nothing, just to get to 6 minutes of substance. And not for nothing, but that episode revolves around the separatists and I couldn't get a goddam 'roger, roger' at some point? I think Clay said it, that was a complete side quest episode. Which is tough to swallow when you've only got 8 episodes.

InChiefsHeaven 04-10-2023 08:25 PM

OK, so I decided to watch this season of Mandalorian, and then said **** it, I'll watch Boba Fett. So I saw up until last weekend (2 weeks ago) of Mandalorian, then switched to Boba Fett to catch the whole Groku comes back. Im on the 2nd to last episode.

God, the Book of Boba Fett is a steaming pile of peanut filled shit. They must have realized this and that's why suddenly Mando comes back. The last 2 episodes (I have not seen the finale yet) were soooo much better than any of the hambone bullshit with Boba Fett. In fact, basically Fett does not appear in the episodes pretty much at all. They would have made sense in the Mandalorian season 3.

What a mess this shit is. I left off of Mandalorian when they show the ship and it's obvious they are going to frame the Mandalorians for the escape of Moff Gideon. I'll catch up soon.

listopencil 04-12-2023 08:10 AM

Okay I’ve been curious and no one says anything about it so I’ll ask. Darth Maul always had the horns on his helmet. The forger has the horns. Seems like that would make everyone suspicious but no one ever says anything. 3 seasons in it still bugs me. How come no one ever says anything?

In the Clone Wars, the Deathwatch bitches that went with Maul put the horns on. And the armorers group is called the Children of the Watch, so they are descendants of those dudes.

The armorer above all views the armor as ceremonial, so it makes sense that she wouldn't change it as allegiances change.

For real, Grogu laying on the yes button was hilarious.

That was pretty funny. Mando also gave me a chuckle with, “He didn’t learn that from me.”

RE: Thrawn

Spoiler!

So I ****ed some of this up. I forgot axe Wove was on the surface. That limits his capacity to run the light cruiser as a traitor. That shit is out the window.

I also forgot that one dude got out. That’s obviously going to be important.

Also the armorer doesn’t make as much sense because when Gideon talks to that **** on Courescant, he was shocked the 2 factions would work together and the armorer would have told him that shit. It also makes no sense to feign ignorance with the ****.

Obviously my Dumbass needed a rewatch.

Pour one out for my big ogre Paz Visla. I am going to miss that big ****.

EDIT: My phone autocorrected Dumbass to Dumbasstrius. Obviously my phone remembers all the fond memories I posted about Demetrius Harris. ROFL

This show has so much exposition its ****ing awful sometimes. It's like the characters aren't even talking to each other.

The writing is not as sharp as I'd like. But I can't complain if it's oscillating between ROTJ and Upper-Tier Prequel quality. I watch it because it's fun.

i think they want mando alive for his blood

they want him to be the template like jango for a new clone army

I'm a week behind and just got around to last week's episode. It wasn't perfect, but why are we wasting time with Jack Black and Lizzo when you apparently have an actual story to further? Makes no sense to waste so much time.

Are there more confirmed seasons after this one?

Yes. S4 is set for release next spring

staylor26 04-19-2023 11:07 PM

Good finale. The last 2 epsiodes really salvaged S3.

Spoiler!

Fish 04-19-2023 11:57 PM

That was not at all what I was anticipating. But I really like that because of the complete unknown factor. Lots of rumors depicting the Armorer as a pretty clear traitor, and Thrawn showing up, etc. But still, I really liked the ending.

Spoiler!

Hammock Parties 04-20-2023 12:17 AM

Like I get this season wasn't as good, but if Filoni is just going to keep making mouse droid jokes, I'm good with that LMAO
