No spoiler watching on youtube but just an opinion..... Why didn't the mythosaur eat then or kill them? Seems like to me "something" is going on there. Some reason to be revealed later.

Katie got her beliefs shattered. Thats why she is staring at the water. It's not a dead planet. The mythosaur is real. We will see her and Din team up soon?

Grogu can calm and talk to large beasts. Thats going to involve the mythoaur too. Does he help Din ride him?

BTW, how does Dinn prove he went into the waters on Mandalore to get the apostate label off him?

Both Bo Katan and the Armorer did. The Armorer thought the planet was uninhabitable and Bo Katan thought there was nothing special there. Interesting dichotomy that still continues.

Grogu can calm and talk to large beasts. Thats going to involve the mythoaur too. Does he help Din ride him?

Maybe Grogu rides him. The Mandalorian that made the dark Sabre went to the Jedi academy. Some decent parallels there. Could be any number of things. They’ve done a really nice job with the story. Especially the pragmatist vs religious fanatic angle.

BTW, how does Dinn prove he went into the waters on Mandalore to get the apostate label off him?

I’d rip that damn plaque off the wall and slap that down in front of her. How’s that, biatch? Apostate my ass.

My answers in bold.

He's part of the force or an extension of the Wills, thus there's no malice or favoritism. It's ambivalent to all force users. In its mind there's No dark or light just the totality of all things.

The armorer sent him there to die. In the trailers it sounded as though the armorer said, "There is no redemption." Or something like that. With all those helmets littering the floor when Mando was being carried off by the robotic spider seems like it was an obvious betrayal that once you remove your helmet, you're done. Would give Mando the power to start questioning his order.

Starting with Clone Wars, the animated productions have been some of the best Star Wars we've gotten. Outside of a few exceptions, Rogue One, Mandalorian, Andor, the live action has been trash compared to the animated shows.

Y'all probably shouldn't read the rest of the quoted article, because it'll probably get people here all set off, but I'm posting this for the numbers, so I need to add the link:

Quote:

Today Samba.TV released its numbers for the opening episode of The Mandalorian and they are b-a-a-a-a-d.

Disney+ ate its own seed corn when the Book of Boba Fett was bombing. Tearing off Mando’s admittedly good third-season starter and stuffing it into the Book of Boba Fett was like pouring an entire bottle of expensive perfume on a pile of shit. It wastes the perfume without making the pile smell any better. Favreau had to slap together a replacement season opener out of spare parts and abandoned scripts. It was a weak start when it needed to come out strong.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premier was 2.14 million unique views.

The Mandalorian third season opener was 1.5 million unique views.

This is truly dire for Disney because The Mandalorian has lost half of its audience. It only edged The Book of Boba Fett by 2%.

Episode #3 today was an interesting change of pace from what the series has been to this point. Putting the focus on a secondary character away from the action was a risk, but it worked quite well. Was cool to see the real life ramifications of the New Republic taking over for the average Empire rank-and-file. A bit of Andor influence there, I'm sure.

Yeah, it's fun to stick with the adventures of Din Djarin/Grogu as well (although this season seems to be turning into more of Bo Katan's story), but I hope they're willing to do more of this kind of thing in the future.

I did find it interesting that this season Sackhoff is shown in the credits as a full cast member along with Pascal. Everybody else is a guest star. Seems highly likely that Bo's going to drink the old school koolaid, either because she wants to or as a means to retake leadership. I hope she doesn't end up a villain, though.

Something that hit me after thinking about the last episode; Bo Katan had her own "It's true, all of it" moment when she saw the Mythasour.

All the stories she thought were just that, stories, were true.

dlphg9 03-22-2023 09:33 AM

Really cool episode. I just started watching this about a month before Season 3 premiered and it's crazy to think that I almost stopped watching it midway through season 1, because I just couldn't get into it. Now I'm watching the new episodes the first chance I get.

dlphg9 03-22-2023 09:43 AM

I had the same issue with Andor. I wasn't getting the hype of that show until like episode 3 and then it takes off.

I watched the Boba Fett show and really enjoyed the parts with the Tuskens, but didn't like much of it until the Mandalorian episode. Those 2 episodes that were basically the Mandalorian were lit lol. Looking at IMDB those 2 episodes are by far the highest rated at 9.2. They would be tied for third with the season 1 finale of the Mandalorian and behind only The Jedi episode in season 2 (9.3) and the season 2 finale (9.8) which is a banger.

Can't believe I've never watched any Star Wars movies. I love this shit.

Wow.

That's a hell of a bummer.

Because man, the difference in quality between this and Fett or Obi Wan is just STARK.

This is the best thing to come from the IP since The Empire Strikes Back. Only Rogue One is even close, IMO. Well, and Andor - but it's early yet there.

Man I hope this thing doesn't whither up and die because it's just such a well made show. But that analogy is spot on - how are they gonna try to prop up BOBF by burning off part of Mando? I didn't realize that was how they did that. Because man there was just no salvaging that pile of crap.

Did they manage to woke themselves into a pit as well?

I hadn't heard that.

I mean just a quick google search suggests they're still north of 160 million subscribers and that's a fairly small drop from their peak of about 164 million.

And 160 million subscribers is almost certainly more than they had in spring of 2021 and 2022 when Mando seasons 1 and 2 were killing these numbers.

I don't think this is a subscriber loss thing - that math just doesn't check out.

loochy 03-22-2023 10:41 AM

Yeah, but the first parts of Mando were peak COVID when people weren't doing much but sitting around at home.

I'm not too worried about the numbers and I'll post 3 articles that give me reason to not worry yet.

https://dorksideoftheforce.com/2023/...3-trailer/amp/

So record breaking viewership of the trailer = enormous fan interest and then this:

https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2023...iere-week.html

And this could be the reason for the low initial numbers: https://movieweb.com/the-mandalorian...on-3-premiere/

"However, there is another factor to be considered that may explain the low viewership of The Mandalorian’s third season. There is choice of release date for a start. Both of The Mandalorian’s previous seasons arrived towards the end of the year, and made their debut on a Friday rather than a Wednesday. This means that the capture of four-day date included a weekend when many more people were likely to be watching TV. When it comes to a comparison between Season 2 and Season 3, the greatest difference is that Season 2 premiered in October 2020,when much of the world was in Covid lockdowns, which saw huge increases in all viewership volumes. This is a big reason why the latest figures are not really anything to worry about, as more long-term numbers will likely show that The Mandalorian is still as popular as ever."

So the difference in season 2 and season 3 premier was 2.08 million for season 2 and 1.5 million for season 3. The season 2 premier includes Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Season 3 premier includes Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I'm willing to bet Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are the days with very high viewership numbers and the numbers for Season 3 didn't include one of those days.

That makes sense too. For example, my son and I have watched every one of the season 3 episodes on Sunday. Wednesday is too busy after he gets home from school.

A half a million difference isn't some huge concerning number in this scenario at all.

Not trying to start anything bigger beyond observing that I’m not sure I can imagine a scenario in which current Disney features two straight people (especially both being essentially white) getting married as a core element of the story.
