Giving up highly valuable draft capital AND making him the highest paid WR sounds like a bad idea. We should just stick to a top 5 FA WR, save the draft picks and some $$.

I mean they did flip Diggs for Jefferson...

Maybe they think they can do it again

I agree. He is simply too expensive. I mean if you are going to go that route might as well have just resigned Tyreek then you don't have to trade picks.

Better off to continue to develop Rice, sign a mid tier WR, and use the draft.

Veech said two years ago that the Chiefs could not take on a massive contract at the WR position, but in 2 years that the Chiefs might be able to do just that.

BleedingRed 02-27-2024 05:43 PM

Comparing Jefferson and Tyreek is silly two different WR types

Things aren't static.

They weren't willing to pay Orlando Brown but they were willing to pay Taylor.

If they bring Jones and Sneed back they aren't going to take on a massive WR contract.

But if they aren't able to come to agreeable terms with Jones, maybe a WR vet turns out to be a reasonable approach.

This year for Jefferson is 19.7 million. And next year would probably be similar. Doable. Big money would kick in in '26 when the rest of our big contracts are removed from the books. Still doable.

This move would get a true #1 for Pat that costs no draft picks and takes almost all the risk out of upgrading the WR position.

Mike Evans on a 2 or 3 year deal is a great strategy IMO

Depends on cost. Evans has a ring, so he might not be looking to chase another at a discount. This could be his final contract to make really good money and he could very well want to maximize his payday.

How is it silly? They play the same position and both are elite WRs. You think Jefferson is going to do better than Tyreek did here?

Titty Meat 02-27-2024 09:32 PM

Jefferson Rice Kelce Pacheco just hand us the trophy

Rainbarrel 02-28-2024 07:19 AM

If you think Kelce got irate in training camp with Spags' sticky coverage. Jefferson and Sneed would get each other injured. Cook too

Womble 02-28-2024 07:24 AM

Have we signed this piece of shit yet?

Sassy Squatch 02-28-2024 07:24 AM

LMAO Yeah, if the Vikings would accept that offer it'd be done already.
