haha, go drive through Shawnee Mission Park right after the sun breaks the horizon in the evening. Come back on here and let us know if you can make the full loop without turning off somewhere. It can get painful and down right nasty :D

Worth actually gave a crap about me. If I asked for something, they gave it to me. They worked with me and got me into what I wanted, with add-ons, price, etc... Rawhide was not flexible about anything. Nothing.

You know the old business saying "worry about dollars not cents", Rawhide worries about cents.. and in the end it's gonna cost them dollars, cause I won't do anything with them ever again. Even my service, etc I'll go up North for.

Yep. Nothing 'wrong' with Rawhide's service/treatment so to speak, but they were very 'proud' of their product. I got mine for $1500 under MSRP. Rawhide would only come off a hundred or two bucks. I received a follow-up call from Rawhide yesterday and was asked when I wanted to come back in etc. I told them I already bought one on Saturday 'up north'. They seemed shocked.

I too, am taking my up north for services. I was pleased with Worth. great customer experience. Very pleased. Worth was also able to get me into the bike at 7% APR (my credit is good, but not in the 800s etc). Rawhide was at 17% lol. I just laughed and said 'Ok...well I'll think about it". lol
I got the service plan (I usually opt out of such) and my payments are still less than what it would've been at Rawhide.

For those who aren't aware what the service plan entails:
20k miles; unlimited term
-1 Front Tire
-1 Rear Tire
-1 Front Brakes
-1 Rear Brakes
-4 Winterizations
-4 Oil Changes
- 1: 1000 miles service
-1: 5000 mile service
-1: 10000 mile service
-1: 15000 mile service
-1: 20000 mile service.
10% discount on gear/store type stuff

I decided to go against the service plan. It costs $300 for the 1000 mile service. Already need the 5000 mile service and just bought the bike this spring. Kind of wishing we had gone with the plan afterall. :p

I haven't looked at HD labor rates/service costs etc, but I suspect there might be a 'slight' savings with the plan. Not sure though. From what I've heard, service at HD is $$$. It'll be nice to not have to worry about coming up with $ when things come due. I probably could've gone either way, but just decided **** it. why not.

Thats a pretty extensive plan! And that includes a new front and rear tire? And labor?

What is the break in regime like?

apparently. and they'll pick up or drop off the bike one-way. which will be nice. At least it had 'better be' an all-in price lol

Not sure. I know there is a schedule at 900; probably to replace the break-in oil; probably check cabling etc. I'll probably break it in like my other bikes unless the owners manual states otherwise etc.

Dayze, you do any regional organized rides? I did the labor day rally at Perry this year is all. Wanted to do bikers for babies and a Cassoday run, but work kept interfering. Know of any others in the area to recommend?

I saw Kobi's is doing a fund raiser this month for a guy that passed's family, but other than that pretty much most are done for the year it seems.

We had family and friends that have had HD's and pushed me to get one for so long. Finally got to where could get one and it seems like now am having limited riding partners other than the wife.

My dad sold his last fall, brother-in-law got divorced by my sister (taking his vrod with him), other brother-in-law moved back down to Alabama before Christmas taking his, and friend that had really been working me moved down to Texas taking his with him.. I have a buddy here at work that rides, but he's old and Sober so doesnt get out much. A married couple we know that don't get out much either, and of course the buddy that rides an R1.

For the most part the wife and I ride around looking for nice scenery and roads.

That's kinda what happened with Rawhide. They didn't act like they were real interested in giving me the deal I wanted. So I went back to Topeka Harley and got the bike and deal I wanted. Rep even chased me down in the parking lot. I told him they didn't act like they wanted to deal and I had to go. I had already talked to the salesman at Topeka HD just prior to that and agreed to a deal. Rawhide spent too much time trying to give me the run around. They lost a sale on a brand new bike.

For my Road King, it was don't go over 3k RPMs for the first 50 miles. Don't go over 3500 for the first 500 miles. Take it easy on the brakes for the first 200 (?) miles. At 1000 miles, they replaced all the fluids and checked the cabling.

Hmm. I'm not sure. Since I was primarily a sport bike rider for the last decade, I'm not sure of any cruiser type rides. My brother mentioned to me that there was a magazine he saw (can't remember where, I'll find out) that listed all sorts of KC ride events; or meetups for like weekly group rides etc / all welcome etc.

I'm usually down to ride whenever to get out of town. I used ot head out on a Saturday/Sunday morning, get in a tankful ride-ish; stop for some breakfast or lunch, then head back etc. It was pretty regular.

Are you local?
