[QUOTE=Loneiguana;11921377]Well.... why lower prices if consumers are still willing to pay the higher price?[/QUOT]

Yeah everybody understands basic economics and greed.

That's a pretty broad generalization.

Yeah it is. I believe it's true in general though.

Do you have any data to support that generalization or is it just a gut feel?

I have money and I buy things with it. So far the things I buy haven't gone down in price although gas has. An example would be the dog food I buy for my brace of English Setters. A few years back when gas prices were going up the price of a bag of the dog food I buy went up $8.00 all at once. I was like WTF? The manufacturer said they hadn't raised their prices and the retailer said that they hadn't changed the mark up and in the end it was blamed on the freight and the price of gas. Well the price of gas has gone down but the cost of the dog food has not. I suppose it hasn't gone up again but I'm pretty sure it isn't going to go down. I guess that's real life data.

Crude now below $40.00 at $38.70. It seems like sub $2.00/gallon gasoline isn't far off. Now at $2.02

Perineum Ripper 12-07-2015 09:07 AM

I don't like the government adding any new taxes or fees but now would be a PERFECT time for a 5 year decreasing DEDICATED tax on gas to replenish the Transportation Trust Fund. There would be so much money available to fix our shitty infrastructure it would be silly. The only issue I worry about is the scoundrels in DC all sticking their slimy paws in there to steal money for their other pet projects and causes, just they did to the Social Security Trust fund with no money in it because they ass raped it.

Year 1: .25/gal
Year 2: .20/gal
Year 3: .15/gal
Year 4: .10/gal
Year 5: .05/gal

No thank you. If Obama could not fix things with his shovel ready projects, he does not deserve more tax money to burn.

Gas taxes hit the middle class harder than anyone--they use the most gas.
