It's the regularity of it, though.

For his career:

12.7, 11.7, 12.0, 13.5, 11.8

That's a metronome, man. That's an incredibly consistent usage pattern over 500 career targets.

There's nothing 'inflated' about it at that point - it's a large enough sample size that it can't just be YOLO balls that are doing it. He's been on 2 different teams, worked with several different QBs and I believe 3 (maybe 4) differnet OCs and every single one of them thought the best way to use him was as a deep/intermediate threat.

Like MahomesMagic, you are wasting your time. He's decided the deep ball doesn't matter and all deep ball receivers are the same. His argument is that if he's fast he's MVS nothing less, nothing more.

If Andy Reid can find a way to use him to his abilities I think he will be a good get for that WR room. Seems he was a bad fit for a few OC. Dude is great after the play breaks down and needs time to get open.

Renfrow, Mike Williams, OBJ... there are/will be some veteran WR's available that at the right price would be value additions for the Chiefs WR room next season.

A mostly young WR room with potentially multiple rookies (and of course Rice will just be a second year player)... a low cost veteran who can still contribute on the field would be a solid addition.

With the way that cap is rising. Just ****ing lock Sneed up and lower that cost for this year and go balls out for tye 3 peat

DJ's left nut 03-13-2024 08:46 AM

So to use the most recent season to make the point a little more

he got 47 targets on passes deeper than 10 yards last season (deep/intermediate balls) and had a total on-target percentage of roughly 45% on those balls (21 balls on target on 47 throws).

Mahomes, on passes over 10 yards last year, was on target for about 60% of those throws. That's 7 more balls on target over 47 throws. Brown had a 90% catch rate on those on-target throws with an average depth of target of about 21 yards combined. Simply getting more accurate QB play on JUST those deep/intermediate shots gets him another 6 catches for 130 yards.

So he goes from 19 catches for 350 yards to 25 catches for 480 on JUST the medium/deep balls. That's massive - that's going from 7.4 yards/intermediate/deep target up to 10.2 yards per intermediate/deep targets. On deep shots ALONE his yards/target would've gone up 3 yards/target.

And that's without factoring in improved play-calling and surrounding weapons that could goose not only those numbers, but the numbers on short/intermediate plays.

The guy got really damn bad QB play.

Clayton Tune and Josh Dobbs for like 80% of the year....

This is the early candidate for post office the year.

No fear of the Ravens. They are the exact type of team that is always decent but only really has a chance to win it all once every 3-4 years when things line up well. For them the two were in 2019 and last season. They’ll take a step back.

It’s amazing that the Browns were even competent after that Watson trade

The Watson number is ridiculous but EVEN WORSE is the Daniel Jones number!!

mr. tegu 03-13-2024 09:23 AM

What would a team have to pay Mike Williams if he is cut?

One has to wonder on some of Mahomes’s missed throws downfield if it was on the receiver instead of Mahomes too. Maybe another 10% to 15% could be added to his 60% on target if the WR’s would have been on the same page as Mahomes was.

That depends on him, does he chase the bag again or does he want to play for a winner?

His value won't be over the top high because of his injury history, the WR class and not every team is going to pursue an oversized possession WR even if he constantly makes circus catches.
