I'm confused...many are calling downtown a dangerous shithole, but also lament the bars and restaurants that will be replaced. Weird...

There are ugly unused areas. Put it there and I wouldn't squawk |
Why not the West Bottoms?
That area has lots of space and is underused. Plus, many buildings that are eyesores. It also has that sexy view of skyscrapers in the background these modern baseball stadiums are looking for. |

'dangerous shithole' people are afraid of the city, and don't live here andthe people who are pissed that they are going to tear out a thriving entertainment district actually live, work, and play here. That clear it up? |

Royals Announce New Ballpark in "The Heart of Downtown KC"
Isn’t this just gentrification anyways?

Busch Stadium is in downtown St. Louis.
An absolute hell hole of a downtown. FAR worse than downtown KC. Yet in the dozens of Cardinals games I’ve been to over the years, including GASP night games, I’ve never once felt unsafe walking to and from the stadium. Never had a problem finding parking. Never had a problem with traffic postgame. Downtown is where baseball belongs. I get that it’s new and there are questions and it’s replacing an iconic stadium for Royals fans. But I think you’re going to like the new park in the long run. |

Businesses around there (small to large) hit the jackpot. Businesses will always come and go, but having a stadium right next door would not be near the top of the list of reasons for a business failing. |

Gotta second this. Busch was a fantastic experience the only time I've been and the immediate surrounding area (Ballpark Village?) is super nice.

Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. People will come or they won't regardless of what any of you think. And it's possible that people aren't "scared" so much as they're pissed and they won't celebrate/support or look away from regresssive policies. Low trust society begets low trust results.

Petco Park in San Diego is downtown and it's pretty awesome. Tropicana Field is next to downtown St Pete but there's a ton of bars and restaurants across the street.

Don't chase good money after bad. Sinking money into a stadium for a dying sport couldn't be any clearer an example of "bad money."

Man, that Hampton Inn and Suites at 16th and Main is gonna get even MORE expensive.

Standing inside Ball Arena, there's a college to my left, an amusement park to my right, hell in front of me, and Coors behind.
You guys will be just fine. <a href="https://ibb.co/cQNHhKG"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/GRVLQfK/20240216-145251.jpg" alt="20240216-145251" border="0"></a> |
I see a lot of people that want people to vote no because of the number of small businesses that will be forced out? There's no way this doesn't pass.

I must say, the location is ****ing awesome and the renderings look amazing.
Isn’t this right by Messenger Coffee Co? That place is gonna be even more of a madhouse now. |

A lot of us won't be here to see it, though. Maybe we should merge this with the young thread. |
