Major bummer. Loved his food posts. Never met him in person but I wish I had. Glad he got to see KC hoist the Lombardi.

It was chili. He wouldn’t share it with anybody

Lzen 03-02-2020 11:43 AM

Well, that sucks. I guess I never had a lot of interaction with him but I knew that he was a long time regular. Seemed like a decent guy. Anybody know exactly how old he was? Sounds like he was my age or a little younger. Dang! Diabetus that young? :(

PHOG 03-02-2020 11:49 AM

Oh Man. RIP

ToxSocks 03-02-2020 11:55 AM

Adult Onset/Type II Diabetes can be reversed with diet, exercise and mild medication.

FMB had Type I Diabetes, which is completely different and at this point in time, cannot be cured.

KS Smitty 03-02-2020 12:02 PM

Food threads will never be the same. Rest peacefully FMB, prayers for peace and comfort to all touched by his passing.

How does type one actually kill someone that young?

Many sufferers of Type Diabetes are diagnosed at birth because their pancreas stops making (or some cases, never made) insulin. FMB was on kidney dialysis for quite some time but that doesn't reverse anything, it just allows the patient to live a bit longer.

There's no known cure for reversing the effects of Diabetes Type I and unfortunately, most sufferers die at an early age but usually not before having body parts amputated, as did FMB.

Mikey12345 had Type I Diabetes and after multiple amputations, died as well.

It's a terrible, terrible disease.

Dialysis just mechanically replaces kidney function after the disease killed the kidneys.

My grandpa was in it for 9 years. He had a kidney removed with cancer and then later the other one quit. It’s pretty hard on the body.

This one hurts. Maybe i'm just being a bitch today, i barely knew the man. But seemed like a genuinely good guy. This one hurts.

Was a really good poster, seemed like a good dude and so sorry to hear. My uncle died at 44 from complications from diabetes and that is one awful disease.

Hope he got to see and enjoy the Chiefs Super Bowl victory before all this.

What the hell? He was fine just a month ago. RIP.

Never mind, just read about the diabetes thing.

BigRichard 03-02-2020 12:52 PM

Damn, that sucks. My condolences to any family and friends here on CP or any of them that might be reading this. I know he was well liked on here.

Go out and have a great meal in his memory as it seems that is how he was remembered by many.

cabletech94 03-02-2020 12:55 PM

i had a conversation with him a few years back. i was trying to be funny. said some really cold hearted bullshit. once i had a clearer head, i reached out and apologized.
he accepted me for being a dipshit.
will miss his food posts, he was a great dude.

rest in peace.
thank you for letting us know, luv.

Honestly, at first, I didn't want to be the one to post something. I messaged DaFace. Ultimately, though, I just decided that I owed it to him, since he was one of the first people on here to be totally cool with me.

Of course, he kept me in line by using his pimp hand. LMAO I've been looking all morning to see if I could find the same one, but I haven't. Searching on here only brings up the latest 500 posts/threads by people, and that doesn't take me far enough back to look.

lewdog 03-02-2020 01:08 PM

One of the best posters on CP. One of my personal favorites.

Very sad to hear and far too young.

Peter Gibbons 03-02-2020 01:16 PM

Rest In Peace. Prayers sent.

tatorhog 03-02-2020 01:20 PM

Man, terrible news. I never really knew the guy other than to follow his cooking threads. His dip into sous vide was one of the more interesting things I've read on here.

I would like to reach out to his wife to find out if there was an organization that was close to his heart that we could raise money for, but dealing with someone from an online bulletin board probably isn't at the top of her list. I really feel like there's something that we could do collectively, though. Perhaps we could raise some money and donate it to the American Diabetes Association in his honor. What do you think?

Miles 03-02-2020 02:45 PM

Too bad to hear this. He was fairly young right?

I was thinking the same thing. I've had many family members afflicted with the dibeetus to varying degrees. I'd be happy to throw in a few bucks in his name.

Yeah. I'm watching for his obituary. If there is a memorial, that's probably what I'll do.

My friend got a kidney last January. He was doing 5 hours of dialysis 3 times a week and couldn’t drink more than 32 ounces of fluid a day. Now he’s basically normal again. The donor was his next door neighbor and she is in perfect health.

Once Dane jogged my memory on his dialysis treatments I did remember FMB speaking about it a few times, but I didn’t realize the time that bought was finite... thought as long as he could get it, it’d keep him up and running

Sure wish he’d said something to us when he posted last week, at least give us a chance to pray up a miracle... some of the guys we’ve lost, like Brock for instance, just have a strange pride that prevents them from opening up about it

Sad day for sure man, I’m raising a toast to him as I type this

Well, no one knows for certain about Brock... but he was one of the original regulars and just dropped off the map 4-5 years ago

Seems like the Mahomes era would’ve drawn him out, like it did so many other long missing old timers

I could be wrong, but I THINK Brock is OK. My train of information:

1. Googling the email address on his account revealed a name and a city (which is a small town of maybe 10k people).
2. Looked on Facebook for someone with that name in that town.
3. Found a guy who looks to be maybe 50's or 60's in that town. He's posted in the past few weeks.

If anyone knew him well and would like to reach out, PM me. I'd give info out to one person, but I don't want him to be barraged with people trying to contact him, especially if he hasn't otherwise tried to connect with people.
