No more conference tourney in KC. More travel to states much further away. Less dynamic rivalries than what we've established in the Big 12. I think this all sucks and we need to get back to the old big 8 and say fock this nonsense.

Not football but it's also not basketball...

Does ku baseball have to win the big 12 tournament to make it to Omaha?

MarkDavis'Haircut 05-24-2024 06:05 PM

Making it to the SEC would be a dream for Kansas. It and the Big 10 are forming the P2.

It would also be hilarious regarding history.

No. They would have make a Regional, win that Regional, then win the Super Regional, just to make it to Omaha.

umm, I was just working through my schedule and who the hell thought it would be a good idea to schedule the broncos/ chiefs at arrowhead the day after KU plays Iowa State?

That's going to be a damn busy weekend. KU/ UNC at AFH on Friday, KU/ ISU at Arrowhead on Saturday then the Chiefs/ Donks at Arrowhead on Sunday.

I feel so old, but am excited NCAA Football 25 is coming back to console. Dunno if i'm going to get it because I don't have a PS5, but still... That was always my favorite game to play. KU got a shout out in one of its gameplay trailers recently, too.

Big commitment from local top 250 player Julian Marks ('25 class). Offensive Tackle out of Olathe South. I think he may be 2nd highest recruit in the history of the program behind Warner in this year's class.

The crazy thing is there are two more Kansas kids in the 25 class that KU has legit shots to land. Both of those (Cure and Babalola) would each be the highest in history if they commit. They are both top 100 guys.

If Marks doesn’t work out at OT, they can move him to DL.

Word is that a few major programs liked him more on defense.

Best College Football RB Rooms

Quote:

3. Kansas
I don't know if I'll ever get used to thinking of Kansas as one of the country's most talented college football teams, but it's a reality in 2024, particularly at the running back position. Devin Neal was one of the best backs in the country last season, even if he's not a household name. He's been one of the most productive backs in the country over the last two seasons, rushing for 2,373 yards and 25 touchdowns. Neal is also a valuable weapon in the passing game with 53 career receptions for 457 yards and three touchdowns.

Daniel Hishaw was a solid No. 2 behind Neal last season, rushing for 626 yards and eight touchdowns. He's back in 2024, too. Both are terrors in the open field; their combination of size and agility make them a serious pain-in-the-you-know-what to tackle.

For this KU football program over the last 15+ years? Yes. Consistently landing 3 and 4 star players is definitely something new.

The difference being, I think... Is that historically, we'd be beside ourselves to get the caliber player of Skipworth (a 5.6 rating by rivals). That was the normal top end talent KU would bring in, with an occasional 5.7 sprinkled in every so often.

Now, the 5.6 and 5.7 guys are the norm, with 5.8 guys being the ones we're excited about with 5.9+ guys being sprinkled in.

That's a HUGE change in talent level. Skipworth level recruits aren't the guys this class is being built around now. He's depth, foundational, and a nice get. The staffs like him, seeing how they went all the way down to FL to pluck him. That's not our normal stomping grounds, Marcus Calvin being the only other FL recruit this staff has landed under Leipold. So yes, I believe there's a lot to like about this.

Worried we will get picked apart by big schools like Alabama and Ohio State etc and guys transfer out once they get good. But maybe that's more of a basketball problem...not a KU bball problem but in general for non blue blood schools in football and bball.

I mean, there is always going to be that possibility when the traditional powerhouses begin sniffing. (See Jalen Daniels/USC or Jacobee Bryant/Primetime-arado this offseason). Hopefully the NIL can help offset that by enticing folks to stick around. The only real player we've had that happen with thus far under Leipold is Armaj Reed-Adams going to Texas A&M... Maybe Gage Keys leaving for Auburn, but he doesn't really fall into this category as a great player leaving... he was okay, but not one where you look at it and say "ouch that stings" Reed-Adams stung, and still stings.

According to A&M fans, he was great as a freshmen but struggled after that.

The talent is there for sure. He also won’t be facing SEC fronts, which I can only assume will help.

Beating Oregon and USC for a recruit regardless of any other information is a huge win.

The fact that it was probably the biggest need is just gravy

cmh6476 06-18-2024 08:14 AM

each of these dudes we signed over the weekend going to end up being studs? From Mike Vernon:

Quote:

Here’s a rundown of the commits:

 Bryce Foster | Texas A&M Transfer | 2024 OL

Foster is the headline pickup of the weekend. He is expected to come in and be the starting center from day one and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Foster was a five-star out of high school and an All-SEC Freshman before being sidelined with an injury most of his sophomore year. He returned to the field as a junior and improved as the year went on.

His PFF Grades:

Freshman: 69.2 (above average/good).

Sophomore: 54.1 (below average).

Junior: 59.5 (below average/average). Saw a significant uptick in his last five games.

Also feel like these numbers should be included by recruiting sites during portal season.

Foster is a natural center and will allow the rest of KU’s line to play in their preferred spots. It’s a huge add, as he should be a leader of the offense this year.

 2025 3-Star LB Kenyon Rivera ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A big pickup out of Georgia at a position of need.

Lists some big offers, but his more recent P5 scholarships were from Arizona State and Louisville.

247Sports lists him as the No. 100 LB in the country. You can see his recruiting profile here. And his announcement post here.

 2025 3-Star EDGE Garrett Martin ⭐️⭐️⭐️

KU needs to keep getting better on the DL, and pickups like Martin will help. The DE is a top 10 player in the state of Arizona. I really like this pickup.

Martin had an official visit lined up for TCU on June 21. He unofficially visited Arizona, Wisconsin, and USC.

247Sports lists him as the No. 51 EDGE in the country. You can see his recruiting profile here. And his announcement post here.

 2025 3-Star DL Josiah Hammond ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Doubling down on the message above. Defensive line commits are great news.

Martin had an official visit lined up for Washington on June 21. He also officially visited Iowa State, Utah, and Arizona.

247Sports lists him as the No. 136 DL in the country. You can see his recruiting profile here. And his announcement post here.

 2025 3-Star EDGE Adrian Holley ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holley is a high-ceiling prospect at 6’6”, 225. Another get for KU that I’m a big fan of.

Holley visited Cincinnati and Minnesota before committing to KU.

247Sports lists him as the No. 65 EDGE in the country. You can see his recruiting profile here. And his announcement post here.

 2025 In-State ATH Brandon Schmelzle

I love KU going after Schmelzle. He plays 8-man football out of Axtell, Kansas, and projects as a safety or WR. I think he’s the kind of player previous staffs may have overlooked.

Schmelzle has won three state championships in football and two in long jump.

You can see his recruiting profile here. And his announcement post here.
