rode one like that a long time ago for a day, belongs to a friend. not having a front brake is tough for me, I use a lot of it. the clunky shift method is cool, fits with the hog experience imo.

WOW...an Eddie Lawson sighting! I used to love watching him, Rainey and Spencer race back in the day.

Also, Kenny Roberts was my neighbor until a few years ago. What a douche bag.

Isle of Man? I still have a video I bought 25 or so years ago somewhere called Onbike TT Experience, it's just full laps by old winners like Phil McCallen and Joey Dunlop and my mates and I watched it over and over. Maybe YouTube has it or something like it but, yeah - balls.

Haven't owned a bike since back then, had a Ducati 900 SS, a Triumph bonneville silver jubilee and Norton commando (not at the same time though). **** japan.
Also Mick Doohan is God.

TinyEvel 06-08-2013 05:15 PM

I've never owned a bike other than a bicycle, but I've wanted an old motorcycle for quite some time. Was considering an old CB or Norton, I love the cafe racer style, but after talking to some guys at work I think I would be better off buying a newer cafe bike. Considering a Triumph Scrambler or Moto Guzzi V7.

Cool thing about the Scrambler, it has the high side pipes similar to the Triumph that Evel Knievel used to jump on in the late 60's the one he crashed at Caesar's palace on.

I went by to check on the bike. guy told me it was still in the shed out back and it was ok, since only a couple pieces of tin blew off that roof. so, they call me a couple days later, saying it was done. picked it up and took it home. last night I went to get on it for a short ride and noticed a chip on the front fender about the size of my fingernail. i'm pissed. don't think there's much sense in calling and bitching since I've had it home a couple days now, but shit...

You don't have to raise Hell. You should just politely explain to them that you didn't notice it until a couple days later. And then remind them that you are a good customer and hope they choose to do the right thing.

SO I have a 2007 bike that I put 20k miles on in the first season I owned it (bought it new)

The bike sits now in my garage, with about 22k miles on it (have bought and rode other bikes while it sat)

Sitting for literally 3 years and 8 months, fired up on the first try and ran no problem. Battery is coming from the internet, just need a taillight and it is ready to pass inspection and be licensed.

Only thing I did to store it was put stabil in the gas tank, and turn off the petcock.

I've done it on a sport bike.
not too hard.

one thing is to consider if it'll run a little lean as a result. usually, however, they come a little rich from the factory so no need for a fuel commander / etc.

I'd love to have a road king...but can't afford it.
I started with a 1983 yamaha virago 500.

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gal...0%20Virago.jpg

after a few years I moved on to a 1985 magna 700.

http://images04.olx.com/ui/6/42/69/1...1277997548.jpg

I'm currently riding 02 shadow sabre.
don't have any pics...but this is it almost exactly.
I have cobra shotgun pipes on it with a mustang seat as pictured and same saddle bags pictured. also added a windshield and highway pegs

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...hW1S21yrg1J5E-

these look like my pipes...but the saddle bags and seat aren't the same.
but this is my bike basically sans cushy mustang seat and highway pegs.

http://images.psndealer.com/dealersi...P1982265_1.jpg

this one has my pipes but no bags.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3119/3...211dac3e93.jpg

it's a good bike. plenty of power for two. never had to do a thing to it other than tires and oil. got 25k on it so far.

frankotank 07-09-2013 12:51 PM

so...question for you baggers with a cushy ride...like a road king or similar...

I can ride about an hour...maybe hour and a half....and I'm ready to get OFF that dang thing. I wonder......would a road king make much difference? would it be so much more comfortable that I wouldn't be wanting off after an hour or so.....or......am I just a wimp?

I HUGE part is the seat. Beyond that, (From a comfort standpoint), you're looking at peg/foot distance; same with the bars.
If you're hands get numb, you can get some gloves with Gel padding in them.

but, 99% of it is the seat. I had the same deal on my Vstar; stock seat kicked my ass. switch to an aftermarket (can't recall the brand...maybe Corbin) and I could easily burn an entire tank of gas in a ride.

I don't think your a wimp.
I rode 350 Miles on July 3rd down to Missouri to get fireworks on my Triumph Tiger 800 XC. By the time I got back to Iowa I felt like I had been running a Weed Eater all day.

I used to get CTS in my throttle hand bad. Installing a “cruise control” throttle clip eliminated it as an issue, just being able to occasionally take my right hand off the bar and move it around was enough.

I had a throttle lock on my magna. it was nice to be able to chill that right hand.
you know....my sabre doesn't really vibrate my hands much. and the mustang seat really is comfy. it's nice to be able to put my feet up on the highway pegs for a change of position....... but man...you crazy bastards riding all the way to sturgis and shit....that's just NUTS.

Dang...how much was it? I would love to find a good deal on a good motorcycle, but I typically don't know a good deal when I see one because I don't know the names/models well enough. Gas to work is kicking my ass and I'd love to get a bike and get comfortable enough with it to start saving on some gas $$.

EDIT: Ah, just googled 07 zzr600 to see, and I'm looking for a bigger one instead of the sporty ones like that. Still curious what something like yours would go for though.

How do you plan to do this?
You realize this will make it obnoxiously loud?

Well, I debaffled it this weekend. Didn't make in really loud, but made the tone a lot deeper. I've got to say, I really like the sound of it now.

I rode 350 Miles on July 3rd down to Missouri to get fireworks on my Triumph Tiger 800 XC. By the time I got back to Iowa I felt like I had been running a Weed Eater all day.

On a side Note:
Man I want a Norton Commando. Been looking.

sweet.
man, I wish Ducati still made their sport classic 1100 etc. I don't "think" they still do. I saw a black one up close and personal at a bike/coffee hangout. Sounded unreal, looked amazing. I would love to own one.

IMO the sexiest Duc ever made was the 888 SPO.

yeah, those are slick.

I love the redesign ('08 I think) of the super bikes. The new 848 and 1098 are sweet looking.

I love them all though lol

you could always get the Desmosedici; ...only run you about $45k.

Anybody know anything about BSA's?

This one was listed down the road. Seems way overpriced.
