I'm assuming that the problem was more that the voters just didn't want a new downtown ballpark for the Royals. Had it just been for Arrowhead renovations, then it would have passed. Which is why they bundled it together. They thought that the fear of losing the Chiefs would be enough to sway the voters to pay for the new Royals stadium. Well, that didn't work. Probably the best bet going forward is for the Royals to get their own deal in Kansas and put the Chiefs renovations up for a vote separately.

**** off with these comments. This is a major piece of news regarding the number one topic in KC sports right now. This isn't some random person, it's a pretty major window into the raw opinions of key decision makers that the public usually doesn't see. It is absolutely "stunning" and yes it's worth it's own thread.

In all seriousness, I'm sure they put a bunch of effort into it and are frustrated. Other people said it, but social media was a bad idea. There's no filter or anything preventing you from instantly putting any thought out for the world to see no matter your state of mind.

Looks like Sherman needs to remind the hen who the rooster is.

The whole thing seems like each side did a shit job selling their side.

Scho... It's obvious at this point that the Chiefs wanted this to fail to gain all the leverage. They will either get a big shiny new stadium in Kansas, or Jackson County will pay even more than before to keep just the Chiefs. I hate to see Arrowhead go away, and hope it doesn't, but the Chiefs intent with those mediocre to piss board plans should be an indicator that they wanted PR cover in case they take the deal in Kansas.

Kman34 04-06-2024 08:48 AM

I’m sure Mr. Sherman is very pleased that she ****ed up the leverage he had with Jackson County and the state of Kansas..

cmh6476 04-06-2024 09:13 AM

That's not a good business strategy on her part, even if the comments are true.

nychief 04-06-2024 09:24 AM

I mean... did anybody think that rejecting this would lead right back to negotiating table? That is naive. Some other county or state will step up. It's complete free agency now.

I love it. Shes ride or die.

I posted this on the stadium thread a few days before the media caught wind of it

Sounds like Marny was one too many cosmos deep and doing some facebooking.

I assume many will be disappointed when the Royals move to Nashville. That’s the most likely scenario.
