Jackson does basically nothing on offense. Having them both out against the zone is a killer. I have to believe that’s what teams will throw at us every game from now on.

McDowell’s and Furphy’s floors are no lower than Timberlake’s and their ceilings are much higher.

I just saw an article that said Scot Pollard needs a heart transplant. Was this already common knowledge? Damn.

TribalElder 01-10-2024 09:30 PM

didn't realize UCF had joined the Big 12

He sort of has to play by default at this point as he's the only one of the guys outside of the main four who can guard a little bit.

We somehow managed to have an even worse bench than last season.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I thought that would be possible, outside of the weirdo covid season. No bench, and two starters who can't score at all is not a good combo for going deep in the tourney.

Looks like it's just being reported today. Damn, that's terrible.

Had a friend who had to have a heart/lung transplant, and thankfully we was able to find a matching donor after about six months on the list. It was a close call, but he made it. However, the anti-rejection meds that he'll be on for the rest of his life are no picnic either.

One last thought on tonight's game...

With 3:45 left to play in the first half, we were up by 16 friggin' points. 16.

So do the math folks, in the last 23:45 minutes of the game, we were outscored 46-25. That's awful, and completely unacceptable to a team like UCF, no disrespect to them, but c'mon.

I know Jackson is supposed to be a lottery pick talent level but I’ve not seen that since he got here.

What I see is him constantly trying to play hero ball. Way too often he gets the ball and tries to take on 3 players on the way in to the basket. No idea why he keeps doing that.

Evidently Self is tired of it too. We are down 7. He tries to take on multiple players and fumbles it away. Again. Self immediately calls time out and benches him. With Jackson on the bench we go on a 23-5 run on the road.

Is he worth this? Sone day we are going to see this lottery pick talent?

Team was a -16 in the 22 minutes Elmarko was on the floor yesterday.

Yikes.

Is that when they put Elmarko back in? Am I off here? The dude is killing us out there, not helping us win.

Yuck.

Was that our early season "wtf was that?", game?

Nope, according to KU fans this one of the worst teams we've ever had and there is no chance we make it to the Sweet 16

GabyKeepsMeWarm 01-11-2024 07:04 PM

I think everyone knew that Gradey Dick wasn't even close to truly being ready for the NBA, and his pro numbers don't do much to disprove that. What sucks even more, is that his style of play would be perfect on this team. Plus he'd also be getting another year in college to actually truly be ready for the NBA. I know, what's done is done... But damn...

No it’s when Dickinson picked up his 2nd foul and left the game.

BWillie 01-11-2024 09:36 PM

They need to stop this shit with no shooters on the floor with Harris. Its criminal to have Harris-Jackson-KJ on the floor at the same time so much. Jackson should be the backup PG and pretty much in when Harris isnt. Harris is playing too many minutes. You can see it effecting his defense. Furphy needs to play 25 mpg and beside Harris & KJ. When those two are on the floor Furphy MUST be out there.

I mean that's a bit of a stretch from KU fans. We all know the team we see in Nov-Jan will not be the same team we see in March. That said though, I just don't see this team ever being great. We don't have more than 2 consistent scorers (Hunter and Kevin) and definitely don't have one single consistent outside shooter.

As currently put together, I see this team winning two games in the tournament and that being the ceiling. Would be happy to be proven wrong, but unless Furphy makes a HUGE leap in the next 4-6 weeks, I don't see this squad becoming great.
