Jeff Allen said it's a pee test.

I think Darrell Williams is with the 1st team? If so I wonder how that affect Hyde

There were alot of new guys last year.

2013 would be a good example of guys playing together and they were damn good as a defense that year.

The Colts defense wasn't incredibly talented apart from Leonard. The Ravens defense had skill, but not THAT much skill.

Playing team defense is critical. These guys can easily play above their raw talent level if they buy in and gel. An elite guy who freelances all the time can be more damaging that someone who's just low on talent but is at least sound within the system.

Defenses are designed to be redundant. A lot of times you have help if you screw up but you have to play the defense as designed to get that help.

If the coaching takes and the defense plays as a cohesive unit, they can be really good.

They had that up last year as well; under the bleachers at the top of the hill (the 'stadium' field you walk past to get down to the practice field). Looks like the exact same banner.

If all Tremon Smith can do is be a gadget guy and a KR, I'd say he's expendable. How many kicks sail through the endzone? Now if they gave him a chance at PR and he could spell Hill, that's a different story.

Here's another thought. What do we do about a backup QB? I don't think Litton or Shurmur are ready to be the #2, but Henne is a FA after this year, right? Do you carry 1 of them on the 53? I'd sure hate to try to find a backup next year.

This is kinda why I'm just not sure on the "Pay Chris Jones what he's worth" thing.

The picks and such they could get from him would be pretty helpful in rounding out the defense and such. Plus the money.

I think i'd probably see how things go this year. If a guy like Saunders shows that he can be say 80% of Jones, i'd probably pull the chute and see what I could get for Jones.

Smith was rated as PFF best kick returner last year. He will make this team

O.city 08-05-2019 09:28 AM

I also dunno about said Colts D. IIRC, they played a lot of shit O's to bulk up that rating.

But a gadget guy that is a good KR is going to have more value as a roster member that a Marcus Kemp or Gehrig Deiter, Smith has an elite talent and does 1 thing very well, that's more than they have.

Fox probably sits on the PS for a year, learns from the coaches etc then replaces Colquitt after the year to save some coin.

Chiefs Moon 08-05-2019 09:40 AM

Tremon Smith might bring something back in a trade.

Look at the scrub offenses in their division.
