2018 was probably his peak. Max games he's played in a single season is 102. His power numbers and OPS has actually been on the way south since 2018. So, to say he's been much better, that's debatable. Hey, he's got potential, we've all seen that. He just has no longevity or the ability to remain healthy. If you can't get on the field, you're not contributing to the success of the organization.

As long as they don't screw around for 30 years trying to get back to the next one....

He was in the minors for parts of his first 4 seasons. Last year was his first season on the Royals for the whole year, and he played 59 out of 60 games.

Is gblow trolling?

Hopefully this ownership is better and won’t settle for losing

To be fair those guys were top 3 picks they had very long ropes for that reason.

To be fair, a top 3 pick and a guy you spend $2M to sign out of Latin America are basically the same thing. You have enormous investments in them.

Mondesi is still young and still has enormous potential. I’d like to see what he can do in a lineup with guys like Benintendi and Santana around him, and also if he can stay healthier playing CF instead of SS.

And the Royals didn’t wait one day to sign him. Mondesi was signed on his 16th birthday, the first day that he is eligible.

He was about as highly regarded as it is possible to be.

And the kid has been hurt more than he has played.....

Why was Wade Davis pitching in a 2 run game?

Why did Staumont and Barlow get ran out there last night in a 5-1 game? Maybe that would have been a good position to throw Wade into.

lewdog 05-16-2021 06:45 PM

Mondesi has tremendous raw talent, you can’t dispute that.

My concerns are injury related and secondly, if he’s got enough drive to work hard enough to stay consistent.

Which is again why he has a long rope also. He'll the Royals give long rope to nobodies so of course legit prospects get them.

Moore is very guilty of falling in love with his prospects and overvaluing them.

He played 59 of 60 games last year.

Granted he has spent far more time on the DL than any of us would like. But then....so did Cain, Gordon, Perez, etc. at times in their careers.

We need Mondesi in this lineup, and that is indisputable. He makes us better.

I think Davis should be off the team. Holland has some use. Definitely would have preferred Holland - Staumont yesterday and Barlow the last two innings today.

Deberg_1990 05-16-2021 07:25 PM

Why do they keep rolling Davis out there? Why was he even signed back?
