Here is audio/video during the midfield solidarity bit.

<blockquote class="reddit-card" data-card-created="1599844495"><a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/sports/comments/iqg307/the_chiefs_and_texans_arminarm_in_a_show_of_unity/">The Chiefs and Texans, arm-in-arm in a show of unity, receive boos from the Kansas City crowd</a> from <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/sports">r/sports</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//embed.redditmedia.com/widgets/platform.js" charset="UTF-8"></script>

I didn't register live that there were boos as much as people were making noise during the moment of silence. In the video though... boos can clearly be heard. I don't get the point of going to a game knowing that you will be "offended".

I'm not going to argue the should/shouldn't they aspect of it... it happened. Other than to be a dick to our Franchise QB... why bother? Or, if you are gonna attend... throw on some headphones and play "Some ****ers Never Die, they just smell that way" by Johnny Rebel / David Allan Coe while the players do their thing if it bothers you that much. Go take a shit before the game starts. No one forced anyone to be there for this.

That audio is from the NBC broadcast. The only reason to trust it is if it supports your own narrative. Multiple videos from other people at the stadium refute that video.

So we might as well stop talking about it because people are simply going to believe what they want to believe.

You think NBC pumped boos into the broadcast?

The center of the field is where everyone's voices are directed. While I'm not an audio engineer, it would make sense that the boos wouldn't be heard as clearly in the stands as they would be in the center of the field.

Both Mahomes and Mathieu said they didn't hear the boos and they were both in the center of the field.

For that matter, you could CLEARLY hear booing on the broadcast when the Texans left the field before the black national anthem.

The sound heard during the display of unity was not the same. It could have been booing but it also could have been thousands of people saying "Chiefs" into a mask.

Furthermore, there was a point after the Chiefs 1st or 2nd touchdown when that same sound was heard right after the Chiefs scored, during the PAT. Do you REALLY think Chiefs fans were booing their own team for scoring a touchdown?

If I'm in their shoes... I probably say I didn't hear anything either. Basically don't acknowledge them at all.

Houston star J.J. Watt said after the game the booing bothered him as well ... calling the reaction "unfortunate."

It would make sense that the people in the stadium would ALL boo the opposing team while only some would boo during the unity bit.

I don't disagree that it could have been something else. But that shit sounded like boos and I'm fairly confident in my belief that there were definitely some people who did... though I wouldn't testify to that in court.

I'll have to re-watch it and see if I hear it. I didn't pick up on that one... but I also didn't really hear the boos until I watched the replay of the unity bit.

On the flip side of that coin, Houston star J.J.Watt was actively getting booed while leaving the field before the black national anthem and immediately after returning from the tunnel, right before the display. Of course he heard boos, they were booing HIM.

I'm not saying nobody boo'd. I know of at least 1 and I'm sure there were more. But a lot of people on social media are making it out to be that the entire fanbase booed in unison. That's a bullshit narrative and they're using it to justify more division instead of focusing on the players message.

Maybe fans who paid to go to that game wanted to watch football, and not having a half hour political montage rammed down their throat. Maybe....it was a little too much.

Personally I have no issue with some of the messaging, but when players start putting the names of rapists and criminals on their helmets.....in the same league that didn't allow a sticker in honor of the 5 Dallas officers killed and 9 wounded by the BLM terrorist 2 years ago....and didn't let Tim Tebow kneel on the field.......they're losing the average fan.

We've all seen it. One guy booing does not a city make.

He’s exactly right. But if you were just a casual observer watching the game, you heard the booing - which clearly was a response to the show of unity - and that’s what you remember. Not that you may have only heard those boos because those who supported it remained appropriately silent.

So, yes, there are some losers in our fan base who felt the need to boo, but the vast majority don’t deserve to be colored by it.
