It’s fine that the NHL lets the Avalanche, Wild, and Kraken through.

But the NFL likes the idea of tradition. It doesn’t want some modern conceptual mascot muddying up the works

I still like the idea of keeping "Kansas City Chiefs" but change the Native American theme to a First Responders type theme.

Something kinda like this..

PunkinDrublic 01-05-2022 01:01 PM

I see nothing wrong with Washington Hogs. A lot of their fans called the Redskins the hogs so it’s a nod to their tradition.

Valiant 01-05-2022 01:03 PM

Chiefs should just move to Celtic or European design.

The word is french origin after all.

Valiant 01-05-2022 01:05 PM

There should be a ban on FedEx. The feds are a synomonus name for corruption. I can't believe this is tolerated. I am offended.

Hope I did that right.

I hope the name is never changed.

But the last two years have taught me that anything is possible now. The gloves are off. We are in a country now where Washington statues were defaced.

At some point I think we won't have statues of people. They'll just be statues of concepts, which is kind of where team names are heading as well.

Agree to disagree on Redtails, burgundy/maroon isn't really red IMO... I prefer the DC themed names like admirals, senators, commanders etc etc

If they do change their name to Admirals, they need to get basketball HOF David Robinson, whose nickname was “The Admiral”, connected to the organization. He went to high school in Manassas Virginia, which is in Northern Virginia, not too far from FedEx stadium, about 50 miles.

So I live in the DC area. It’s funny that a whole generation of younger fans want nothing to do with the Washington franchise. Dan Snyder is a terrible person and it shows through the way he manages and the record of the team. Nobody cares about the WFT any more. I’ve trained my kids well. They’ve grown up in the DC suburbs but are die-hard Chiefs fans.

Commodores is meh. Whatever. Who cares.

The NBA team changed its name a few decades ago from the Bullets to the Wizards. Fine to change that name but they abandoned a cool color scheme to a stupid name and a fruity logo with some little wizard. It was so bad. While they still go by the stupid “Wizards” name, one thing they did right was they went back to the old Bullets color scheme and came up with a cool new logo (10 years ago maybe) for the team that has nothing to do with a ****ing Wizard.

I guess WFT is learning from that debacle. Change the name if you must, but don’t **** with the coloring and keep logos simple.

Gravedigger 02-02-2022 07:31 AM

I’m glad they took Commanders, it leaves Red Wolves as a possibility if the Chiefs ever change theirs.

To be honest, I think we will all get used to it, it just takes time.

Remember when they didn’t have an actual name and it was a big Meme, and now 2 years later we all kinda just adopted it and now it sounds ok? The same will happen with the commanders.

It’s just like if they picked the Jets, Oh wow, it’s the JETS! Like what airplanes? No we are so used to it because it’s been around for decades. Or the Ravens? A bird? Would it be weird if they called themselves the Baltimore Pigeons? Baltimore ducks? We know Seahawks and eagles are taken, point being is it’s just something new that we will all laugh at first but adopt in the near future.

That’s just my opinion but I’ll also add a local news station was saying pretty much the same as above, WFT sounded better, but in retrospect that may just be because we’ve grown accustomed to the name

Good point.

Packers is a name that would be mocked if announced today. Eagles is generic as hell. Same deal with Panthers. Titans does sound like a XFL name.
