I think under the circumstances he showed incredible restraint.

Like, a person who could eat a horse is Patrick Mahomes when it comes to throwing and putting zip on the ball. As it is, it's not possible for a human to eat an entire horse in one sitting, nor is it possible for Tom Brady to put more zip on his throws than Patrick Mahomes, but by comparing yourself to the superhuman, you're trying to say that it's an extreme case by your own mortal standards. You're hungry and are trying to say "Let's get food because I'm hungry" by using hyperbole, just as a sports reporter is saying, "Man, for a 42-year old pedophile, Tom Brady can put a lot of zip on his throws!"

Could be trajectory. Brady is a giant with huge arms throwing downwards to midget receivers running shallow crossing patterns.

Mahomes is throwing bombs with upward trajectory.

RustShack 07-29-2019 03:51 AM

Dirty Dan is a solid role player, just not a starter.

New World Order 07-29-2019 04:24 AM

So have they gone 11-on-11 full pads yet?

Offensive updates are cool, but I'd like to see our defense make a few plays against Mahomes and co.

If they cut Dan I will no longer root for the Chiefs. I'll smash my Chiefs coffee mug and take the emblem off my truck and then I'll leave CP forever.

So they need to consider this.

I think he has a shot at the roster after the top 3 that position is wide open and a guy like Tremon Smith is no longer a lock due to being a returner.

There’s only 3 locks at corner, so I think the 53 is more likely.

Yeah, I get it and like I said, I don't really blame him.

But to be honest, the publics mind is made up on this, so it doesn't really matter what he does or doesnt' do so I guess it's semantics either way. I just think if he'd have just done nothing, it would have pretty much been died down.

We'll know based on how much exposure he gets in pre-season. If they're giving him a lot of run, I think that means they're going to keep him on the 53 because they aren't worried about him getting sniped.

But if he plays okay in the first 2 weeks and then goes under the radar for the last 2, I'm betting they're either hunting for an IR slot for him or looking to keep him on the D/L before sneaking him on the practice squad.

As you know from the CP Mock, I had the guy on my radar as early as the 4th round. I REALLY like Mark Fields and feel like he can be a significant contributor for us this year. He's a true CB not just a developmental athlete that you hope can learn enough footwork to not embarrass himself.

The public made up its mind because Pryor, Rosen, Rincon and a slew of other media personalities in this town failed to report it fairly.

And once the blood was in the water....well you know how life works in the Social Media age. The erroneous Tweet gets 10K re-tweets and the correction barely sees the light of day. Nobody has the attention span to reconsider their outlook anymore.

I don't understand why it's so hard to just say they made a mistake? What is with the quadrupling down?

Isn't the media playing a game of positioning itself against the team and it's fans a really dangerous game to play?

you guys that think this defense is going to suck are chicken littles.

Clark is a BEAST. He and Jones are a top flight rush tandem. Okafor and Ogbah are nice 2nd tier pieces. The LB corps got faster. Hitchens is back in a 4-3 where he's excelled. Honey Badger is much better than an absent Berry. Breeland is better than Nelson. Ward should continue to improve. Speaks will be back in position as a D-lineman. We're not even talking about the rookies, who show promise. But how about the deep, talented, and experienced coaching staff and how hands-on they are?

If they'd been healthy, last year should have been a respectable defense talent-wise. Coaching was shit (guys not knowing assignments at the end of the year). No adjustments, no fire, no nothing. Lame.

This will be a much better squad.

Pick machine Mahomes is back

I'll be surprised if he makes the roster.

If some of these young corners can do something this team changes drastically.

If anyone can maximize KPass, it’s Daly and Spags.

Agreed.

DB's ALL get burned, as it's one of the toughest positions in sports, especially with the rules handicap.

DB's just need to try and balance it out as much as possible. Sorenson may not be worth the cost, but he's not horrible at his job.

Wade was kind of lost in the shuffle last year, but the guy was considered by some to be the best small school CB in the draft (others liked Tremon).

Like I’ve said before I have a buddy that went to school with him that raves about his talent. He’s a great kid.

I think Tremons return ability got him on the team but this year that doesn't have as much value.

Need a corner to step up so this place can stopped getting spammed with "should we trade for this CB" threads. You morons have had the same discussion for over 6 months now.

Spags saw this defense **** up easy 3rd and long stops bc of poor pursuit angles and tackling.

Glad he’s getting these guys to work as a unit.

Well Sutton sure as shit didn't.

I don't know if that dude came into practice with his helmet on backwards or what. I'll never understand how he didn't get a longer look here and there; the guy made plays when he was on the field in pre-season. And I get that it was just pre-season but ****ing hell, what did they have to lose by trying him out?

Surely he could've just been sent out there to club and maul like Bailey was doing. It's not like Bailey ever bothered with technique anyway, he just pushed forward. As a rotational DL and guy who could pop up and allow someone like Houston to put a hand down inside him to screw up protections, surely he had some value.

I just don't understand how he got buried so thoroughly and so quickly.

BossChief 07-29-2019 09:35 AM

Are they in pads today?

I think Sutton was so old and set in his ways he had no concept of how to use a hybrid-ish kinda player.

Reaser ****ed up his lower right leg, sounds like.

Hammock Parties 07-29-2019 09:43 AM

Rice and Taylor coming.

Quote:

Adam Teicher, ESPN writer staff on Sammy Watkins at camp:

WR Sammy Watkins is off to a strong start at training camp. The Chiefs have given Watkins the ball in a variety of ways, including on the option and on screen passes. He made up for a dropped pass in Sunday’s practice by making a spectacular catch on the next play. Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said he’s noticed a change in the 211-pound Watkins. "He has a big body," Bieniemy said. "Sometimes that big body has a hard time stopping (on routes). One thing I’ve noticed and he’s worked on in bunches this entire offseason is his ability to transition in and out of breaks faster, which is huge. You figure a man of that size, after the catch, he can be dangerous."

I've wondered this as well. They said he was a project coming in, and even then he got so little action his first year that I was surprised. He was a ghost presence on the roster. And then the same thing happened his second year other than some action on things like extra points. In the preseason action that I've seen, it appears that he's got talent, but he never gets any playing time so it's hard to assess him in real life.
