After reviewing footage of the explosion, WaPo reports that SpaceX noticed an "odd shadow, then a white spot" on the roof of a nearby building owned by United Launch Alliance, an old-school rocket-launching company that competes with SpaceX on military contracts. The building has a clear line of sight to the launchpad where SpaceX's rocket exploded, WaPo notes.

Let the conspiracy theories begin! :tinfoil:

Stop this shit. It's very likely that they've got a root cause analysis tree for realized risks that has "sabotage" as one of its branches. As all the other possible root causes get crossed off the list, you've got to take a serious look at it at some point.

I HIGHLY doubt this is sabotage.

Related to this thread, apparently the Russians lost their ISS-bound resupply mission today. It's not been a good couple of years for ISS missions. :(

2nd burn done, ~5 min from Sat deployments.

GloryDayz 01-14-2017 01:18 PM

So the only "failure" was the link to the ground station that would allow is to watch the satellites being deployed.. And I thought they said they were going to be able to show tape of it that the 2nd stage's camera records. That didn't seem to happen.

But hey, that's cool no matter what!

Yeah, I hope they make a split screen view and show the views from onboard the 1st stage next to the feed from the barge.

Not to mention I'l love to see the Satellite deployment recorded footage from the 2nd stage.

Maybe I throw a big bucket of boiling hot water on the ice and we get a 30-minute delay! Salt.... Or....I could go Tonya Harding on one of the official's shins, that'll be good to get us through the launch!

Really, as I think about it, it's modern (unmanned) rockets that are the outlier. Growing up, I was pretty used to every launch being on a big, complicated complex like 39A. It's just that lately we've gotten used to launch pads being pretty streamlined and minimalist.
