Really surprised he fell to almost UDFA status. I will be surprised if he gets picked up before five but don’t see him not getting drafted. He could be a long term backup.

The Vikings select TE Sean McKeon Michigan

Marco Polo 04-16-2020 08:00 AM

The Denver Broncos select Robert Windsor, DT, Penn State

Marco Polo 04-16-2020 08:14 AM

Horseface's draft is over! There is no way the draft will fall like this but if I were a Broncos fan, I would love at least the first four picks.

1.15 Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
2.46 Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
3.77 Prince Tega Wanogho, OT, Auburn
3.83 Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech
3.95 Alton Robinson, EDGE, Syracuse
4.118 Shyheim Carter, CB/S, Alabama
5.178 Carlos Davis, DT, Nebraska
6.181 Antoine Brooks Jr., S, Maryland
7.252 Nate Stanley, QB, Iowa
7.254 Robert Windsor, DT, Penn State

Dallas Cowboys:
Draft

1:17 Kristian Fulton DB LSU
2:51 Jalen Reagor WR TCU
3:82 Raekwon Davis DL Alabama
4:123 Colby Parkinson TE Stanford
5:164 Thaddeus Moss TE LSU
5:179 Anthony Gordon QB Washington State University
7:231 Levonta Taylor DB Florida State University

What do u guys think?

Chargem 04-17-2020 11:45 AM

Giants draft:

4. Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
36. Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
99. Darrell Taylor, EDGE, Tennessee
110. Van Jefferson, WR, Florida
150. Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue
183. Terence Steele, OT, Texas Tech
218. Essang Bassey, CB, Wake Forest
238. Kenny Willekes, EDGE, Michigan State
247. Kyle Murphy, OL, Rhode Island
255. Justin Herron, OT, Wake Forest

I think this is pretty decent, feel like I got two first rounders in McKinney and Simmons, really fleshed out the defense with lots of talent while still adding some receiving talent for Jones.

I maybe should have taken a tackle or even Joe Burrow at 4..

I’m all in with the first 2 picks… but, don’t see a 2nd OT in R3 if you get Wirfs in R1.
I’d replace 3.77 with Pride jr (CB) maybe or possibly double up on WR with Bowden.
And then at 4.18 – no need for CB, grab the next best Center.

It seemed like a bit of a fluke that Wirfs made it that far down in this mock, but now with Becton dropping in the polls, it seems like he might make it to Denver as a RT. As much as I enjoy ridiculing Bolles, it seems like a RT might be more immediate value even if that's a high spot to pick one. Would you agree or disagree? Unless something weird happens, it seems like OT should be their priority in Round 1 based on the few Broncos games I've watched in the past couple of years.

I think either LT or RT is a focus... R1, maybe. There are a few good options in the first few rounds. Bolles is a trainwreck, but not sure what they plan on doing there.

I doubt Wirfs falls to them, but that would be great. I'm not concerned with Becton's issue on the recent test. I'd prefer having 2 picks in the 20-38 range not the 15-46 as it sits now, so trading back in R1 and up in R2 would be my preference.

Totally prepared for them to move up to 10 as well, but hope they don't.

Oh, did Becton have a test problem? Drugs? I hadn't heard that. I was just hearing that there was more critiquing that he played in an offense that masked pass blocking. And that he likes to eat.

Always fun to give these a look the day after day 1.

RealSNR 04-24-2020 09:03 AM

I had Andrew Thomas pegged as the top OT. Not that NFL teams are always right, but at least I was kind of backed up in that opinion.

Rain Man with the nice selection of Lucas Niang. Wrong team, but right owner

staylor26 04-25-2020 09:28 AM

I almost nailed the Panthers first 3 picks.

Mine:

1. Brown
2. Johnson
3. Chinn

Reality:

1. Brown
2. Gross-Matos
3. Chinn

TambaBerry 04-25-2020 09:40 AM

I draft based on talent and who I think will be good in the NFL. So I like to look at these a few years down the line to see how well I picked

BossChief 04-25-2020 11:30 PM

Atlanta draft:

Patrick Queen, LB, LSU ...I took him at 16 and he went 28th overall
Marlon Davidson, EDGE, Auburn....nailed this pick.
Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame........I got him at slot 78 and he went 49th overall irl
Lamical Perine, RB, Florida...I took him at slot 119 and he went 120th overall
Reggie Robinson, CB, Tulsa.....I took him at slot 143 and he went at slot 123 in the draft.
Francis Bernard, LB, Utah...I took him at slot 228 and he went undrafted

I’ll take it.

Seems I saw a lot of these guys the same way NFL GMs did.

BossChief 04-26-2020 12:41 AM

Steelers

No first rounder
49. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU ...went 32 overall to THE WORLD CHAMPS
102. Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas .....Baltimore took him at 92
124. Anfernee Jennings, LB, Alabama. ....patriots took him at 87
135. Larrell Murchison, DT, NC State. Fell to 174 to the Titans
198. Trey Adams, OT, Washington. ...went undrafted
232. Josiah Coatney, DL, Ole Miss. ....went undrafted, but signed with the Steelers.

Not too shabby

Chargem 04-26-2020 03:46 AM

Giants draft:

4. Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson -> actually went 8th
36. Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama -> nailed exact pick
99. Darrell Taylor, EDGE, Tennessee -> actually went 48th
110. Van Jefferson, WR, Florida -> actually went 57th
150. Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue -> actually went 136th
183. Terence Steele, OT, Texas Tech -> undrafted
218. Essang Bassey, CB, Wake Forest -> undrafted
238. Kenny Willekes, EDGE, Michigan State -> actually went 225th
247. Kyle Murphy, OL, Rhode Island -> undrafted
255. Justin Herron, OT, Wake Forest -> actually went 195th

Pretty much crushed that?

Chargem 04-26-2020 03:53 AM

40. Houston Texans - Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor -> actually went 59th
57. Houston Texans - Neville Gallimore, DL, Oklahoma -> actually went 82nd
90. Houston Texans - Bradley Anae, EDGE, Utah -> actually went 179th
111. Houston Texans - Darnay Holmes, CB, UCLA -> actually went 110th (close!)
171. Houston Texans - Cameron Clark, OL, Charlotte -> actually went 129th
240. Houston Texans - Evan Weaver, LB, California -> actually went 202nd
248. Houston Texans - Josiah Deguara, TE, Cincinnati -> actually went 94th
250. Houston Texans - Bravvion Roy, DL, Baylor -> actually went 184th

Top 3 didn't go quite so well here, particular Anae who I am surprised slid so far. Appear to have picked up a lot of value in the later rounds though.

And man, it's REAL hard to find fault with Rainman on this sucker. My draft is only a tiny bit different than his:

32. Grant Delpit, S - LSU -- He's just too damn versatile and too talented to pass on, IMO. Love this kid and how impossibly varied he can make our secondary.

63. Noah Igbinoghene, CB - Auburn -- Nothing clever here; need meets availability and a pretty straightforward 'right' pick in all likelihood. I like Harrison a lot but I couldn't talk myself into passing on a young CB who can play inside or out.

96. Willie Gay Jr., LB - MSU -- Actually got lucky here because I was pretty sure Staylor had taken him before 96 so didn't figure I'd get that LB upgrade I wanted. This would work out perfectly for KC.

138. Jonah Jackson - G/C - OSU -- Versatile IOL who can play in multiple positions and multiple schemes. Since we aren't entirely sure where we need help on the IOL only that we probably do, he's an ideal get.

177. Antonio Gibson - RB/WR, Memphis -- Love Lynn Bowden in this draft and see Gibson as a similar sort of underutilized hybrid weapon. Anytime you can get an athletic gadget in Reid's hands, you do it.

So in re-running the draft and not remembering who RM took past the first round, I took 2 of the same players he did and in reviewing his picks can't find a ton of fault in any of the picks he actually DID make. I like mine a little more, but of course I would - it's mine. His is pretty damn good in its own right, though.

I ended up at +259 for the Chiefs. Pretty damn nice given a relatively small number of picks and nothing in the 6th and 7th where you can really juice your numbers.

Hoover 04-27-2020 10:22 AM

I should be fired and never allowed to fake draft again.

1.30- Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, Colorado (42) -12
2.62- Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic (115) -53
3.94- Jordan Elliott, DL, Missouri (88) +6
4.136- Alex Taylor, OT, South Carolina State (undrafted) -109

7.236- Charlie Heck, OT, North Carolina (126) +110
7.242- John Reid, CB, Penn State (141) +101

Total: +94

Talk about a boom or bust draft. Lol. Some big whiffs, but some huge hits, two of them thanks to Bill O'Brien overdrafting John Reid and Charlie Heck.

Thanks, Texans!

7.244 - Tremayne Anchrum, G, Clemson (250) -6

Low number, but that's only because I didn't have any whopping lucky-ass draft hits. I had three of those with the Packers (but also multiple big busts).

Here the only big(ish) bust was Lipscomb, but to be honest, with how highly regarded he is among the Chiefs class of UDFAs, I feel fine about taking him in the 6th. I also made a good choice of choosing Thomas over Wirfs.

I said baseball tard should try having a better draft than this, and, well... he probably did. But I'm going to claim that was Andrew Berry and not him.

1. Jedrick Wills
2. Grant Delpit
3. Jordan Elliott
3. Jacob Phillips
4. Harrison Bryant

two awful drafts selection wise but I always come back and see what happened in the future with them

Rain Man 01-10-2021 09:37 PM

At the end of the regular season, let's take a look at the Rain Man drafts.

Real Chiefs:

Rnd Player
1 Clyde Edwards-Helaire
2 Willie Gay Jr.
3 Lucas Niang
4 L'Jarius Sneed
5 Michael Danna
7 Thakarius Keyes

Rain Man Chiefs:

1 Zack Baun
2 Noah Igbinoghene
3 Ben Bredeson
4 Eno Benjamin
5 Antonio Gibson

Note that Keyes arrived because the Chiefs traded a 2021 6th round pick to get that 7th round pick.

Overall, we both had very similar picks in terms of positions. So if I compare...

CEH and Antonio Gibson were pretty much the same. CEH had 1100 yards from scrimmage and Gibson had 1047. That's a wash.

Gay mildly outperformed Zack Baun. Both played in nearly every game, but Gay had 8 starts to Baun's 3 and Gay had more impact plays. The real Chiefs win this one by a moderate amount.

Bredeson never started, but he appeared in 10 games, so he beats Niang who sat out the season. Rain Man's Chiefs win this one by a mild amount.

Sneed had an injury and missed 7 games, but he started 6. Iginoghene played in every game, but only had 2 starts. Sneed had far more impact when he played. The Chiefs win this one by a mile.

The only picks who don't correspond are my pick of Benjamin versus Mike Danna. Danna played very well and Benjamin was never active, so the real Chiefs win this one by a mile.

As of Year 1, the real Chiefs beat me on the strength of their late-round picks Sneed and Danna.

Rain Man 01-10-2021 10:15 PM

The real Buccaneers:

1 Tristan Wirfs
2 Antoine Winfield Jr.
3 Ke'Shawn Vaughn
5 Tyler Johnson
6 Khalil Davis
7 Chapelle Russell
7 Raymond Calais

The Rain Man Buccaneers:

1 Justin Herbert
2 Jonathan Taylor
3 Lucas Niang
5 Amik Robertson
6 Leki Fotu
7 Tyre Phillips
7 Oluwale Betiku

If we compare as closely as possible...

I drafted Justin Herbert and the real team is stuck with an ancient starter. I win that one by a mile.

The real team got 16 tackle starts from Wirfs. I got 8 starts from Phillips and Niang sat out. The real team wins.

I got 1,468 yards from scrimmage at a high ypc from Taylor, while the real team got 143 yard from Vaughn and a handful of kick returns from Calais. You can throw in the 169 yards from their WR and I still win this one by a mile.

I got a little action from Fotu on the defensive line, and Betiku was never drafted. Let's call it a draw versus the real team, who got very little out of Davis and Russell who played special teams most of the season.

In the defensive backfield, the real team got good production out of Winfield with 16 stats, while I got a little backup action from Robertson. The real team wins handily.

I think I beat the real Buccaneers overall.

I saw the post from RealSNR and just want to thank him for all his help in prior years. I would really like to see this happen for this year and if so, we need to get this going fairly quickly as we need to start by the end of the month. I would typically love to help but just got a new job and will be moving to another state while working my current job so that transition will take all of my time. Perhaps we can start a rotation in future years? Either way, someone selfless will need to step up to help admin this if we want to keep the tradition going.

To be fair, part of your excellent Bucs draft would be offset by the fact that Brady is a selfish jerk who values his own career above team success, and he would demand that the actual best QB on the team stay on the bench so he could keep playing.

This is true. But in my consulting role I would have advised the Buccaneers to bench him.
