What the hell is up with this recent trend of every team needing like 6 ****ing alternates that mostly look like complete shit? NBA has done it too and its just bizzare to me.

I don't think I'm going to buy anything Royals until the Royals find a better way to get their games to show on my TV other than subscribing to Direct TV or switching to Spectrum.

You would assume $$$ from selling them is the motivation, but I go to 10-12 games a year and never see anyone wearing any of the oddball alternates there or anywhere else. But I guess someone's buying them or they would quit doing it.

Now if we could just get a new team (sans BWJ) to fill out our new cum stained jerseys.

I really like the jersey. And the hat, but the jersey better. But man, 150 for a replica, and 450 for an alternate is insane. Hell, 46 for the hat is insane.

Adalberto Mondesi is not in the lineup for todays game. Nicky Lopez at shortstop and Whit Merrifield at 2nd.

You could probably repost this every day for the next two weeks until they finally put Mondesi on the IL.

Any official word on his injury?

I'd like to see them go on a win streak with this lineup. Except for Santana at DH.

On the bright side, Mondesi is typically really good for that week between coming back from the IL and going back on it again.
So, we can look forward to that.

So why aren't we giving Witt Jr time at SS? Dozier isn't being a complete pumpkin to start this season so he can go back to his natural 3rd for now and Witt and Lopez can be SS and 2nd base. Merrifield can rot and decay out in RF until he ****s off after the season.

Dozier is an awful 3B defender, though. He just isn’t good there.

Their best defensive alignment with Mondesi out would be Witt-Lopez-Merrifield.

Also, seems like MLB is ****ing with the balls, again. Deadening them more and keeping them in Humidors, supposedly

Who gets Mondesi's ABs is my question. For the Royals' sake I hope it's Isbel. Isbel should have been penciled in, or even penned in, for a starting OF spot from day 1. So the obvious move is to have Lopez or BWJ play shortstop and 3B, with Merrifield back to the infield at 2B, and Isbel replaces Merrifield in the OF. Is that the expected plan? Predictions?

Watch em bring in Justin Upton and keep Isbel and Olivares "developing" on the bench/in the minors.

ETA: Roster Resource has Nicky Lopez as your new starting SS and Whit Merrifield as your 2B, and the man himself Kyle Isbel is your new starting right fielder. Isbel is indeed in the starting lineup today and batting 7th, facing Michael Kopech (good luck with that one KI). A young intriguing mix of power and speed that has shown flashes of ability in past seasons and was downright fire-hot this Spring Training, Isbel will be a hot commodity on the waiver wire in AL-Only fantasy leagues. Hopefully being limited to 1 AB the entire season until now just means he'll be extra 'due' for hits, and won't mean he's completely lost his timing and will go hitless for weeks.

Now who will they get to strike out twice a game?

Well I don't follow the Royals like I do the Angels, but I do know the Royals do dumb stuff on the regular (Santana is batting 5th today and he's way more cooked than Upton). I'm gonna formally predict that Upton joins KC, right here with this post. He will only cost league minimum, after all.

I think I’d rather watch the real Carlos Santana in a Royals uniform than the one we got.

Who would you all rather have for the next 6 seasons: Bobby Witt, Jr. or Adley Rutschman? League circles regard Rutschman as #1 prospect in baseball, with BWJ #2, but some say that order should be reversed.

So with the final nail being in the coffin for Mondesi being a complete failure I think there's a conversation to be had with the Royals' failures in Latin America. Those 2014-2015 teams don't happen without Salvy, Herrera, and Ventura. Without doing the research I'm guessing most teams making the postseason in MLB have a significant presence from Latin America. KC hasn't found shit there in over a decade now and it shows.

You just can't predict an ACL tear like that. Some guys are just injury prone. We're a small market team, you have to take chances on talent. Mondesi has the ability to be a 20 HR/60 SB type player, and looked like it when he got a chance to play last year. You'd be nuts to let that walk away.

It's no different than Soler last year. He's a guy who could hit 50+ HR, and we eventually traded him off and watched him become World Series MVP. You have to take chances on elite talent but eventually they run out of time. Mondesi's only 26 years old so his career isn't over, but his time with the Royals might be.

Mondesi. So frustrating. Worst type of player to have as an executive, I would think.

He's so tantalizingly physically talented. It makes it nearly impossible to feel like you can move him in trade, because he has the physical ability to be Jose Ramirez... a true MVP candidate power/speed combo, but one who also plays shortstop at a high level.

I think this is it. They finally got him to buy into their plan for him in the offseason, and he responds by having a horribly slow start and then unluckily tearing his ACL.

I'll compare it to Gianna Michaels' career. You watch the whole career thinking about the potential they have, if they only would take the next step...

And then when they finally do it for once, it doesn't work out like you hoped it would (and then they sail off into the sunset).
