Did not expect that Geron Christian would be waived.

OTs
Orlando Brown
Prince Tega Wanogho
Andrew Wylie
Lucas Niang
Darian Kinnard is also listed as an OT

We also keep adding defensive linemen with the signing of Daniel Wise to the PS.
DTs
Chris Jones
Derrick Nnadi
Khalen Saunders
Brandon Williams

PS
Danny Shelton
Daniel Wise

I was going to say we are beefing up our DL, but Wise is only 285.

And getting Mecole back is good news.

Perhaps he thought he could fight through it. As long as he doesn't go full Berry I am good with it.

Sofa King 02-21-2023 08:52 AM

He'll be back. Won't be able to pass a physical in free agency so he'll sign a 1 year deal here.

You're reacting with the benefit of full hindsight.

Unless the recovery would've taken 3+ months that should have been done ASAP to ensure he was as healthy as possible for the playoff push. Inconsequential since we won but still pretty odd.

This would also be his 2nd surgery, I'm guessing he reaggravated the sports hernia or whatever it was he had surgery on originally.

When did that happen?

He was put on IR. If it's a sports hernia, entirely possible they felt 4-6 weeks of rest and he'd be able to play again. He gets off IR and it's still not where it needs to be, and rather than rushing him back, they give him more rest into the playoffs.

A lot of doctors think sports hernia surgeries are a complete waste of time and the actual heeling done through the surgery is just the forced rest that accompanies the recovery (versus the recommended rest if attempting a non-surgical recovery).

He reaggravated it in the Bengals game, and I'm sure he's willing to take the more drastic steps now to get back to 100% as he enters free agency.
