It was picking between Gordon and Cain essentially. After knowing how bad the team would have been I wouldnt have signed either, but Cain has been nails for 3 seasons now after beinga Royal.

Are you drunk? Cain has been gone from the Royals exactly 1 year and 1 month - nothing close to 3 years. Furthermore, Gordon and Cain were never free agents at the same time. Now if you want to say Gordon and Zobrist...that would be true. They were both FA at the same time and we could have made a bid for Zobrist instead.

I’ve always compared Cain to Roaf. As they age neither looks like they can walk, but when it is game time they are studs. Cain started playing late in life, makes sense that he ages well. He akso can play right later in his career.

Moving to Milwaukee, which has a lot less ground to cover, probably helps him quite a bit.

Probably is their best alignment. I’d start Lopez hitting 9th. If he adjusts quickly and is doing a good job getting on base, I would slide him to 1, then slide everyone else back a slot.

No he's not - that's just wrong. Any attempt at talks with Cain never went far. The sticker shock based upon what his representatives sought in a contract length/value was always a non-starter for this front office. Especially when considering how they valued him based on age/position/skill-set was always a question. There is absolutely no connection to the idea they chose Gordon over Cain. Cain was never an option at that point. This is hind-sight unsubstantiated speculation.

Now...would I rather have had Cain last year and this year over Gordon? Sure?...although Gordon's 2019 is looking great so far. But yeah...I'd love to have Cain, but that doesn't mean I can make up facts to beat up on the Royals front office - just because. IF Cain was ever an important priority/option it would have been a choice between signing Cain vs. Hosmer. Now..under that scenario, he would have a point. The Royals would have made the wrong decision, had the Padres not saved us from ourselves.

I'm glad Keller is appealing the suspension, if nothing else, during the appeals process, the Royals should make the MLB discuss Anderson's use of the N-word. I'm sure the MLB will try to deflect the topic by saying that none of the suspensions have anything to do with words or the bat-flip, it's all based on actions (the bean for Keller and "for their actions during the skirmish" for the White Sox assholes), but the Royals could insist the topic be discussed and perhaps add more games to Anderson's suspension. There are ways. And if the MLB sticks to "the words and bat-flip didn't/don't matter", then perhaps some Royals should test that theory next time they play these useless ****ers.

I haven't seen anything official, but looks like Duffy would be on target to start Friday night if they recall him from his rehab assignment. Sounds like he pitched fairly well Saturday night for the Naturals. Fillmyer just needs to get himself right at AAA. With the exception of one start, he just doesn't look like the pitcher he was near the end of last year.

On another front, while he's not on the 40 man...Starling just seems to have figured something out. I'd be just as happy with him in RF as Phillips, defensively (both have canon arms)...and Starling is getting it done offensively and Phillips is not. If they want to keep Gore around, surely he could make it through waivers and be assigned to AAA?
