Those last four years were less impressive, but the Broncos 2011 and '12 drafts powered their SB runs, and Elway would seem to get some credit for those having been hired in January of '11.

But the only reason he is considered one of the best is because of that and the things that followed. Any GM in the league would look great if they got a HOF QB in free agency. It's not a knock, but he gets more credit than he deserves for what followed. Truth is he's probably be considered average at best if it didn't. Just look at his drafts. |

Do drafts somehow count more than Wins and Losses? Maybe I'm out of my mind, but I think Wins count more. 2006: 9-7 2007: 7-9 2008 - 8-8 2009: 8-8 2010: 4-12 2011 (Elway's first year): 8-8 2012: (Manning's first year): 13-3 2012: 13-3, Lose SB 2013: 12-4 2014: 12-4, win SB 2015: 12-4 2016: 9-7 And let's face it, they won that SB MOSTLY on the awesomeness of their defense, not Manning's arm. A defense that Manning largely built. I hate the ****ing Broncos too, but Ugly-ass Horseface is proving to be a pretty good GM, even if his drafts have been pretty weak the last four years. Let's hope that those sucky drafts catch up with them as their team ages. |

Considering that the Chiefs traded two second round picks and will pay Alex Smith somewhere around $75 million for play that Trevor Siemian approached last year as a second year player on a 7th round contract, I wouldn't throw too many stones at Elway as a GM.
Weren't people just castigating our departed GM for the contracts of Maclin, Bowe, Hali, et. al despite two months ago thinking he was a top tier GM? |

I love how people act like one below average year makes Semen as good or better than Alex. I'm not an Alex supporter/defender but that's just ridiculous. He's won may too many games for that kind of disrespect. |

If Elways misses on Lynch like I think he will, time will show he's being overrated. |

20 other teams including the Chiefs would have went to the playoffs those same years with PM.
