If they hold off till spring-players that opted out can play. Still be drafted and sign after the season is over. Pro scouts may get a better look at them.

Will be some cold ass games at times-

The good thing about the spring is we know that this will all be far behind us so no need to worry anymore.

The Big 10 had meetings yesterday. Seems like they weren't sure which way to go and wanted to gauge public reaction. This morning everyone had sources saying that they were shutting down. Then halfway through the day a Big 10 spokesperson tells a reporter it's not been decided yet. Could have given that update to the 100s of calls/texts they probably got asking about it earlier in the day

Well, for much of the US Population it IS no more dangerous than the flu. We can breakdown the US Population like this:
Gen Z - 86M - Age 1 to 22 (Covid-19 is literally of no concern to themselves. H1N1 is more dangerous to those in the teenager & children group of this subset compared to Covid)
Millennials - 83M - Age 22 to 38 (Covid-19 is more dangerous than the flu, but to those in this age group who have no co-morbidities it is also of little concern to their OWN health)
Gen X - 65M - Age 39 to 55 (Covid-19 is something to look out for but utility gained from ceasing employment or much of daily life is arguably at a bigger cost than the exposure to the virus. ie depression, financial struggles, happiness)
Baby Boomers 68M - Age 55 to 74 (Covid-19 is a huge concern. Most of these individuals should not be working with the general public and be utilizing extreme social distancing. They should avoid even medium sized family gatherings. Covid can be fatal to many people in this age group even if they do not have co-morbidities due to lung condition)
Silent Gen & Greatest Gen 26M - Age 75+ (These old ****ers shouldn't even leave the house if they can help it. Unless they don't care about dying they probably shouldn't even see family unless said family member has been recently tested & quarantined before a visit. They shouldn't go to any public places at all. It is the grim reaper for these folks and exponentially worse than the flu even though the flu many times can be fatal for these folks)

In a vacuum, if Gen Z and younger millennials are ONLY focused on their own health then around 100 - 110M Americans then Covid-19 is yes similar to the flu. We cannot talk about this virus in absolutes. Doing so does not solve any problems and does not recognize the nuance that exists. This virus is a grave concern, but it is almost of no concern for the youth. The concern with the youth is spreading it to older people, as we all know.

I'm actually in favor of virtual learning in most places vs in-person classes, but it isn't to protect the children. It's to protect parents, grandparents and older teaching staff.

These big schools can handle the safety protocols, and definitely have access to great doctors.

The problem is you're talking 18-22 year old kids who have a 0% chance of actually following them, especially when you're talking about teams that are twice as big as the NFL. Keeping 100 kids in order is going to be impossible. Coaches are going to have to be ruthless about the protocols, and even then you're going to have issues.

Given the age of the kids the biggest issue is not having 15 St. Louis Cardinals situations. You could almost bet money on it right now and get rich.

I thought the prolonged mitigation and loss of sports would snap some people into the reality that this needs to be controlled.

Nope, its still apparently a scam and nothing but fear mongering.

Controlling a virus.

Why not work on choosing which days it will rain for us too while you’re at it.

And I’m not in the “only virus is the media” camp, but we need to accept reality at some point here...

I don't understand the need to cancel entire sports seasons. Certainly they'd need to be played with no fans, but with the small number of people actually involved on the field, there should be plenty of ability to test and trace and keep everyone safe. They did it in Europe, all their soccer leagues were able to finish the season and they didn't have any outbreaks.
