Is it worth $1500?

We just brought a 2015 Honda Civic for $14200. The mileage is 18800. Right now we have a 12 mo or 12000 miles coverage that comes with the car. The manager offered us a $1500 additional coverage for up to 100,000 miles for the car. Is it worthy it?

It depends on you and your circumstances.
If you are someone that can, will, have the tools and place to change basic parts, alternators, sensors, etc. then it is not likely that you would need the warranty especially if you do the proper maintenance on the vehicle.
If you do not have the wherewithal to do that kind of stuff then you are probably better off getting the coverage as long as it is through a reputable company that has good coverage.

Used our "extended" warranty on an Acadia as well. Back AC system evaporator core and fan went out. Paid $100 bucks out of pocket, warranty covered everything else to the tune of $1600. so it paid for itself with one use.

Also, as somebody else mentioned, look over what it covers before buying it.

Quote:
Honda Civic power windows may stop opening or closing due to defective window switches. The issue may be intermittent with no obvious reason as to why the issue started or resolved itself. Sometimes if you press or pull the switch with a little more force than normal it may operate. All these are signs the electric window switch may be failing. While it's most commonly the switch make sure you or the mechanic at the shop verify the switch is bad and not the window motor before replacing any parts.

This. If you can't work on it, one trip to the dealer will cover the cost of the warranty. See what it covers and what the deductibles are. For $1500 and 80,000 miles coverage, I'd do it.

Not on a Honda.

Have one with 130k miles and has never needed anything but basic maintenance. Got to 120k on the original shocks and struts even.

I did spend $1,500 on an extended warranty for our SUV. It was first model year with new engine so it wasn't worth the risk not to get it.

It's a used car. That's fairly standard.

I bought a 2015 Honda Civic for $11000 back in 2016 the night before Thanksgiving. I ended up selling it a year later for 10 grand before I moved to China. It was a great car and I would’ve held onto it for 15 years if I had stayed in Dallas. Biggest lesson learned was November and December are the best months for buying a car. Especially the night before Thanksgiving.

We took out an extended on the srt10.
We were having overheating issues and the stealership wanted little over $1200 to replace the thermostat and flush the system. I thought that was excessive?

I bought the antifreeze, thermostat so my neighbor and I did it in the driveway and I just flipped him a $50 spot.
$169 for synthetic oil changes at that dealership too.
I try ( wheelchair be damned ) to do as much ass possible.

But like mentioned, with those low miles I’d have to pass. Maybe @ 118,800 miles.

Is this a Honda extended warranty? Or is it some aftermarket company?

I bought a used low mileage F-150 and ended up buying their extended warranty through Ford, I bought the Ford extended warranty through a dealership in Texas for about $1,200, which was significantly cheaper than the dealership I bought the vehicle from was offering it. You can shop around for these extended warranties from other dealerships

I figured the Peace of mind was worth $1,200 for me, if I never had to use it I felt good with the fact that I only spent $1,200 for about six years of vehicle use in terms of repairs
