Trump threatens licenses of stations running means ads

As usual trump is thin skinned baby who loves to file frivolous lawsuits at anyone who is mean to him.

https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5...shpmg000000160

So attorneys for the*Donald J. Trump for President campaign sent their own cease-and-desist letter, one that suggested that not removing the ad “could*put your station’s license in jeopardy” with the Federal Communications Commission.

Your misstating the facts. Trump as President did not ask it to be pulled, his campaign did and they did not ask it to be pulled because it is unfavorable they demanded it be pulled because it is a lie.

I think that the rules should be followed. So if any campaign is able to demand false ads be pulled then Trump's campaign has the same rights. The question is whether the FCC should get into deciding whether political ads are truthful or not.

But a lot of the problem is not about this situation but our election rules themselves. They really are becoming a joke. You have networks openly campaigning for a party, super pacs spending tons of money and for some reason we need to limit the amount a person gives to a campaign.

Trump's campaign letter spells it out. I personally do not care if the campaign is right or wrong and really do not care to watch the ad. My comment was directed at "whether it is concerning that a executive threatening to interfere with broadcast licenses for airing unfavorable ads."

I would agree that maybe it is best not to involve FCC to determine if campaign ads are truthful. Given how I see media fact checkers operate it is still rather subjective analysis. That being said if it is a practice for a campaign to threaten action for airing such false ads then Trump's campaign has that right as well. It is not like Biden's campaign has not made demands on airing what they believed to be false ads as well.

The reality that Biden is a wreck and Trump is going to get four more years is settling in with them and they're tuning up for the sky scream.

If this has you concerned, you should look at what the Trump Administration has done to the FEC..The Federal Elections Committee, responsible for oversight of our political elections.

The FEC does not have enough members for a quorum, because this administration will not send nominations to congress for approval.

Without a quorum, no oversight can take place.

Things are done for a reason. It’s completely a Republican choice.

While you’re at it, ask yourself why the Republicans will not vote on protecting our elections by approving all necessary funding to secure America’s Democratic elections.

Things are done for a reason. It’s complete a Republican choice.

Trump is complaining about his OWN WORDS being aired...

Heh..

At some point it will but it is not to the comment I was addressing. If a campaign believes it is false and if a recourse to any other campaign, believing a super pac is running a false ad, is to send a cease and desist letter and then bring it to the FCC. Then why should every other campaign have that right except the Trump campaign?

Meh. Just because the Democrats want to change election laws and throw money at the states does not mean the elections are not protected.

But there is a clear difference - trump runs the FCC.

When Biden's campaign makes that threat it's basically empty, when trump's campaign makes the same threat it's credible.
