Bold prediction: Eric Murray makes the probowl

This kid is going to make the most of his opportunity.

He's gonna hammer some guys and show he's talented in coverage, too.

Lots of talent around him.

Berry will be coaching him from the sideline, too.

He won't be Eric Berry, but he will be a lot better than some here think.

The good news is he's got 15 games and a bye week (hopefully a second bye week in January) to figure this shit out. And he's got a year of film study and shadowing under his belt.

Just think back to our 2014 starting defensive personnel, which was our best statistical season in the Reid era defensively.

DL: Bailey, Poe, Howard
ILB: Mauga, James Michael-Johnson
OLB: Houston, Hali
CB: Sean Smith, Jamell Fleming, Phil Gaines, Chris Owens
S: Parker, Abdullah, Coleman

and now we have

DL: Jones, Logan, Bailey
ILB: DJ, Ramik
OLB: Houston, Ford
CB: Peters, Mitchell, Gaines
S: Parker, Murray, Sorenson

Man for man, I'd take the current defense.. at least as long as Houston continues to look even close to his 2014 self.

A guy without a regular season start, INT or PD for his career is going to the Pro Bowl.

This is in the early running for homer thread of the year.

I don't agree with the OP but you do realize Kelce made it to the pro bowl in his 2nd year after being out his rookie year due to injury, right?

I think he'll definitely hold it down and be a solid complement to Parker and Sorensen, but I doubt he'll make the Pro Bowl. He'd have to have at lease a couple game changing pick 6's for people to take notice that quickly.

It is weird that 2014 was our best year statistically on defense. That was also the year where we didn't create alot of turnovers, but we didn't need to. But yeah, we lost DJ & DeVito in the opener and Berry didnt play most of the year, our CB depth wasn't very good, and our ILBs were just JAGS. I feel like we were more talented in 13, 15, 16 & this year. Very weird.

And that's why I was adamant about not signing Berry to a huge contract...Dorsey thought the same. Berry is fantastic at a position that has the least value on defense.

I'd rather have a $16 million dollar CB...but that's just me...or three $5 million dollar players.

It probably is and I have no problem with that. I loved the Murray pick and think he's gonna be really good.

He was a damn good corner and should be a much better safety.

He has about everything you want in a safety and is going into a situation with amazing talent all around him to help him and Berry is going to help coach him.

I'm telling you, he's gonna be a lot better than most think.
