Wow. And I thought you were going to post something incredibly ****ing stupid.

And if I was using a two week sample size, I wouldn't have mentioned his entire run since 2013 nor his total season stats, you ****ing mong.

Matt Carpenter has made about $20 million from the Cardinals to this point. For close to 22 WAR.

You are bitching about a guy that, if he was given an $80 million bonus check tomorrow and then never took the field again for the team, would still have given the team millions in surplus value.

On the list of problems with the 25 on the MLB roster, he's probably #24, and yet he's the one you bitch about.

How about you just appreciate the fact that the guy is going to get on base 38% of the time and hit close to 30 homers for half of what Wainwright is making this year.

Should make a nice centerpiece in a trade for Alex Bregman.

He's an absurdly good fit for the Astros. He's exactly what they need. His OBP and power skills in that park ahead of George Springer would get Springer even more fastballs in the 2 hole, then you have Altuve, Correa and the rest of the gang behind him.

The Cardinals have the ability to play kingmaker in the AL and they should absolutely leverage that. If you get Carpenter to the Astros, the Yankees will feel the need to respond in kind (they can absolutely win a pennant this year, IMO). Peddle Lynn to the Yankees for Blake Rutherford or Jorge Mateo. Package Rosenthal and Oh to the Nationals for a prospect package built around Juan Soto.

Hell, see if the Red Sox would send you Rafael Devers for Jedd Gyorko. Gyorko would be a horse in that park and would actually be a huge boost ofr them given their struggles at 3b.

They're gonna end up half-assing it and they'll be right here next year with a roster that's just getting older and a farm system that still has no impact players above A+, but hey, a guy can still dream.

Carpenter won't be a part of the next great Cardinal team and he still has a year of control. He'd be incredibly valuable right now - they should strike.

DJ,

I would not have a problem with any of those moves. Other than Carpenter (possibly Fowler) we have a logjam #6 and #7 hitters at best. We don't have the pieces to land a middle of the order bat without stripping the already thin prospect list. They won't do it but I like it.

I just hope they don't trade Kelly. He is starting to hit this year at Memphis and could be used at 1B or even 3b if they have a sell off.

If they trade Kelly it shows just how poor their understanding of the competition cycle is.

Molina just got a 'thank you' deal and has nothing to do with winning baseball games ever again. Meanwhile, Kelly is still only 22. Leave him in the minors for two more years for all I care; he'll still be 25 when it's go-time. Realistically I think you can leave him down there for one more year next year (age 23) and ride Fryer. Then in his age 24 season he's a true backup for Molina; starts maybe 30-40 games to get used to the game and work with Yadi. Then in 2020 at age 25 you hand him the reigns with Yadi being a very expensive caddy. At worst a 60/40 split in Kelly's favor.

This team has no business at all trading Carson Kelly. He should be seen as part of the 2020 wave of guys that may actually matter to a contender. Y'know, him, Perez, Bregman, Devers and Rutherford...

Its not based off FBB, its based off watching him play.

I suppose since his contract is as cheap as it is its not a huge thing but watching a guy get doubled off first or thrown out at 2nd base trying to stretch an obvious single into a double continually gets a bit old.

It may just be I see him as a microcosm of whats wrong with the team as a whole. I really dont hate the guy he just frustrates the hell out of me.

Name a number.

They just pocketed the $48 million they insisted they were willing to spend on Robert when they cane in second yet again even though Robert cost exactly what folks expected so it's not as though the number should've caught then off guard.

Surely they weren't just making an offer they knew wouldn't be good enough just to appease the lemmings inn the fanbase.

Prolly the 30M owed Carpenter. That *may* intrigue them.

As I stated last year when you wanted Conforto who was struggling: cost controlled bats are nearly impossible to find. Harder than pitching
