I don't understand the injury concern, Inmen. It's not like Mahomes will get 'extra lives' after this year to remain healthy. Nothing is guaranteed. He's just as likely to get injured next week as he was last week or in the future.

I get that, but at least he’ll get injured in a game he should have been in, not some meaningless bullshit game.

I think next week is 'meaningful' if he plays. Who knows what we would do? I'm not saying he's taking us to the SB this year -- he isn't. But the spark it might provide could make the team better.

He’ll be struggling to keep up with opposing teams due to our defense.

Listen, it's all learning from here on out. Alex has proven that he cannot carry this team to a SB Win... Nothing to lose. Let the kid play.

I love you man, but you are cray. I wouldn't have believed it two weeks ago but now I think we see Mahomes at some point this year.

Smith really needs to dial it up if he is to match your optimism and keep the kid on the sidelines.

Lots of respected members here have changed today. Alex knows it. And as Reid said, Alex knows how this works.

Anybody else remember that time before 2016 when Doug Pederson was saying that Carson Wentz wasn't going to start and that he needed more time to develop? And then all of the sudden, after missing 3 preseason games, they went ahead and traded Bradford and rolled with Wentz from day one?

Yeah, that seems to have worked out well.

Let him pad those stats baby!!!!!

Mahomes has no chemistry with the first team players, he needs a full off-season to mesh with those guys. If he starts or sits, either way we have no chance at a Super Bowl run. This defense is atrocious. If Mahomes lays an egg (which is highly likely) it’ll just knock his confidence down. There’s no reason to risk an injury on a player when this team isn’t going anywhere with or without him playing. Last thing we need is for him to come in and get concussed. Be smart, put the beer down and calm the **** down. The remaining schedule should be a breeze for Smitty to rack up some decent stats.

I love you all and it’ll all be okay!!!!

I disagree.

The fact that it is an easy schedule from here on out is why you start Mahomes. There is NO excuse for the bad QB play that Smith has been showing lately at this stage in his career with the time he's had in this offense. It's been a steady decline all season from game one, which he looked Brilliant, to good, to average, to bad and to terrible.

This team needs a spark. We all know Smith's ceiling and Mahomes ceiling is in a different universe....and if the past 5 weeks are what you are going to get out of Smith for the rest of the year then the Chiefs are better off seeing what Mahomes can do now. It won't take much for Mahomes to match Smith's output IMO.

If you stick with Smith then yes, this team is likely in the playoffs but you can pretty much guarantee that this team 1 and done. If you are happy with that then by all means, cheer for Smith and hope they Trade Mahomes during the off season.

If they go to Mahomes, they still likely make the playoffs in this division and could a much better team by playoff time. Worst case is what you get with Smith.

Mahomes has been running the scout team in practices. He hasn't been sitting around diddling himself like Tyler Bray has been doing on fake IR for the past 4-5 years.

And on the scout team, what's the most important job? RUN THE ****ING PLAY. It's not to "win" practices or impress coaches. It's to know what's in the goddamn playbook and execute each play with backups.

I was against starting Mahomes as of last week. I was all in favor of just sucking it up and dealing with Alex and his scaredy cat bullshit for another season. But now I'm ****ing done. I'm not watching another Chiefs game until the playoffs as long as I have to watch them duke it out with shitty ****ing teams and get into field goal fights.

Oh, and by the way, the defense was better today, but it was still the Giants. The defense still ****ing sucks, too. Another reason to not watch this pathetic team.

However, if Mahomes starts, I'm not going to miss a single second.

No point in continuing to play Alex. You can see the look on his face every time he gets hit or makes an errant throw, which is often. He's mentally done. He's tough, I'll give him that, but he doesn't have what it takes anymore (if he ever had it to begin with).

Alex actually had time to throw a lot of the day. He has no pocket presence and gets happy feet instantly.

Mahomes will make mistakes, but it's time to go to him. I know Reid won't make the move, but it's the right move. Getting 6 games under his belt would help him immensely in his preparation for next year. He would get some live game experience and would get a better idea on where he needs to improve. Going into next season with no regular season experience leaves us having no clue what we have in him.

Hanging on to Smith for the slim chance of winning in the playoffs is a fools errand. Everybody knows how this story ends.
