Chiefs announce news conference on planned Arrowhead renovations

https://fox4kc.com/sports/chiefs/chi...mo-link-block1

Maybe worth checking out Wednesday morning. If your not local I'd assume Chiefs.com will have it on the website.

This will have major implications for the April vote on extending the sales tax that will help fund Renovations at One Arrowhead Drive and even more to get Shyster Sherman his downtown ballpark.

$800 million primarily to turn the parking lot into even more of a revenue generator for the Chiefs.

That's what it comes down to. Clark owns the team and can move it if he wants to.

I'm not following the point you're trying to make. Yes, they'll make tons of money on all of these VIP improvements - no one is debating that. I don't know why any taxpayer should be excited to help fund that.

This idea that owners just hold cities hostage to build them shit is a ****in joke. Lets subsidize rich people, great idea.

Guess what there are privately funded stadiums, they do exist.

I just have a hard time getting behind the idea that a county should pay 800 million dollars so the 1% has a better gameday experience. But hey easy for you to say I live in that county and you don't.

The Chiefs have the most leverage of any team in the country when it comes to stuff like that. Why not use it now?
They need the Royals out first. Plus to ease the backlash of tearing down Arrowhead. Saying hey we tired but the World Cup renovations revealed true problems is an easy out.

Well he doesn't live in Jackson county so it's easy for him to be for it.

I love that they are going to build a VIP road so special people don't have to wait for traffic.

I don't know that I'd say I'm upset by the proposal, but I would definitely vote no if I lived in Jackson County. As it stands, I live in JoCo, so I don't get a vote. As for your question, I've probably been to about 20 games the last 5 years.

The parking deck is the one that caught my eye. I worked on a feasibility study once that involved rough budget estimates for building a parking garage, and the contractor's back-of-the-napkin estimate was around $30k per parking space to build a garage (and this was 5+ years ago). It's nuts how much money those things cost.

They really should call this "the affluent renovation"

I've always read the benefits for the taxpayer are positive for the Chiefs to be there, but if not I may be way off here.

The owners should get to privatize profits and subsidize expenses, but I dont' get to make the decision on that.

I'd imagine they'd rather go out in Kansas and build. If they can get Kansas to build it, go for it.
