*****2024 NFL DRAFT THREAD - NO SPOILERS*****

Version 2024 - PATRICK MAHOMES & THE HUNT FOR THE THREEPEAT

Let's ****ing do this.

Quote:
Rules for once the draft begins:
  1. No spoiled picks in this thread, all weekend. This means that as tweets are leaking picks a few minutes before the selection is announced live, you don't post it in this thread (ex: embedded tweets), reference it in this thread (ex: Joe Slapdick says it's So and So to Green Bay) or hint at it (ex: "it's a RB!").
  2. Don't be a dick.
Otherwise, have fun, talk shit, freak out and lose your goddamned minds. It's Draft Weekend. The hot takes in these threads are so funny. I'll also be starting player threads for each of our picks as they are made, with videos and notable stats/takes in the OP. These separate threads will be made as soon as the news breaks, outside of this thread. I will link the threads below. Pure knee-jerk gold to reference in the future.

Here are our picks:

Round 1, #28: Xavier Worthy
Round 2, #63: Kingsley Suamataia
Round 4, #131: Jared Wiley
Round 4, #133: Jaden Hicks
Round 5, #159: Hunter Nourzad
Round 6, #211: Kamal Hadden
Round 7, #248: C.J. Hanson

Here is a list of the prospects the Chiefs have shown interest in this year.

Fautaunu has the edge for me, but Mims could easily end up the best T in this class.

I'd be way more excited with a legit 1st round talent than having to reach a bit for a guy like Paul or Kingsley (even though I like those guys).
This is where I am at as well.

I don't like receivers that couldn't separate in college. That isn't gonna get better re: Coleman

That's all it comes down to for me.

It's not like they're unaware that drafting a project like Mims might be bumpy and it might not give us our tried-and-true LT of the future on day 1. But - especially if they trade up to get him - it would certainly indicate that he's their guy and they think very, very, very highly of him.

I want a WR in round 1. But I really just want us to trade up to get some player we really want. Last year's FAU pick was so underwhelming after the run on good players in the 20s that I'm hoping for something a bit more exciting this time around.

God, I love the draft...

(I am sticking with Team Ladd fwiw.)

I think Coleman will be a solid NFL player the question is, are you comfortable taking a guy at 32 who's basically your solid base hit?

He's never going for 1300 yards, he's a 65 catch 700 yard 6 TD receiver.

There's plenty to like about Coleman. He has some very special elements to his game. Not "my guy" per se, but i'd think there's good reasons to be excited about him if he were the Chiefs pick.

However, i do think he's a 2nd round talent, and i think he goes in the 1st half of the 2nd at the latest. So is it better to take that guy at 32, or trade up in the 2nd? Idk....

So best case, his ceiling for production is peak Mecole Hardman.

Agreed. However, he DOES have some special elements to his game. I mean, not just good....but SPECIAL.

So you have to consider if those tools can be utilized to offset his speed deficiency.

People swallow Mitchell's nut boasting about his 40 time, yet that guy doesn't create nearly the YAC that Coleman did.

It's a hard one to project.

Because he could also be Laquan Treadwell Part II.

Hardman has never been a consistent receiver with those numbers...he also can't lineup outside.

I can make the argument he's Drake London if I want to be nice about it.
