Don't you think the DB coach and DC have gone over it with the players ad nauseum during the year? Maybe they are just dumb AF.

I'm sure it happens to other teams, too, but probably not as consistently as it happens to us. It's amazing that at the highest level of this game that you can get these headless chicken defenses. Obviously, it's a coaching issue, but the players bear some responsibility. Doubtful that they've been coached to do this; they just refuse to study enough to play the right way. It is what it is, so you can't run complicated defenses, and that's on the coaching staff for not adapting to reality.

As a supervisor at my job, I have people under me that make occasional mistakes. If they continued to make the same mistakes, would my supervisor understand that I went over proper procedure ad nauseum with them, or would he expect results and improvement? If said improvement didn’t occur, would he find someone that can demonstrate proper procedure more effectively?

You can easily avoid answering this by saying you don’t know my supervisor, but it isn’t far fetched to assume that most supervisors would choose the latter rather than the former.

At this point, I'm honestly coming to this conclusion...esp after watching Dee Ford line up offsides.

Yeah, the story is Bill's valuted defense gave up 31 point in the 2nd half. Brady throws 3 interceptions. Dynasty done or on life support.

We knew that defense would cost us. I think they had no idea Mahomes would be this good this year. Next year was the year he starts shining.

it could very well be. They must have cues they're supposed to read, and when they read it wrong, it looks...well, like that.

I don't think you should have to be a mensa member to play defensive back in the NFL.

If they're not getting it, you make things simpler until they do. This is a failure of coaching and scheme.

You can't say a bunch of guys that are all physically talented enough to be highly drafted players are not talented enough to play well. It's the staff's job to coach them up and get them ready to play.

We so often looked unprepared.

Yes. He does the breakdown of the prior game -- win or loss -- and previews things to know about the team they are about to play.

It's pretty damn awesome.

In case anyone cares, here's the prior week's episode. At the 16 minute mark, BB talks about the Chiefs for a bit. Then at about 31:50 he does the "Belestrator" using the all-22 to discuss the Chiefs weapons etc.

our offense will never suck as long as Mahomes is here.

Agreed. It may not be the best in the league, but it's highly doubtful it would ever "suck" with Mahomes under center.

The players aren't bought into sutton's scheme and it apparently requires too much thinking rather than just playing football. Look at hitchens on almost every play has to think about his move before he makes it. Not a mystery why all our defensive additions have been worse for us than their previous teams.
