Ed Harris takes Top villain role in HBOs "Westworld" reboot
Sweet. Loved this film when I was a kid. It's ripe for a reboot.
Doesn't sound like he's playing the Yul Brenner role though http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/08/11/ed-harris-westworld/ Image Credit: WireImage.com Ed Harris is coming to series TV: The Abyss and Apollo 13 actor has signed on as the Big Bad in HBO’s Westworld reboot. The four-time Oscar nominee’s character is called The Man in Black, and is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” He joins previously cast star — and fellow series television newcomer—Anthony Hopkins, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Shannon Woodward. The Warner Bros.-produced sci-fi pilot produced by J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk updates Michael Crichton’s 1973 classic film about a theme park where androids fulfill dark human desires. Harris’ description might sound like he’s playing the Yul Brynner killer-cowboy robot role, but it seems like actor Rodrigo Santoro was tapped for that part—and online production rumors suggest The Man in Black is actually a human character who sadistically abuses the androids. Harris will soon be seen the feature film Run All Night, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman. Harris won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Game Change. |

Decent show, but I wasn't blown away by the MIB reveal or the robots taking over the place.
Good enough to watch, but not quite in that "HOLY SHIT" territory.....yet. |

The plot is just flawed enough to keep it from hitting that upper echelon.

i am about halfway through this series and it is kind of boring. Not much sex, characters are not very interesting, plot is thin and it is ultra violent to try and keep the story going. Pretty disappointing so far.

I finally watched the second half of the season over the weekend, and it certainly gets a 'holy shit' from me. Really, really good show.

Thanks for reminding me that the second season is still like a year out.

They won't have to fake a time shift. The actors are going to age naturally for the next season.

Going to give this a shot. Was always a fan of the original, hope I'm not disappointed.

It's along the lines of old Battlestar Galactica versus new Battlestar Galactica. Not quite though because old BG was worse than old WW and (I think) new BG was better than new WW. Although the WW sequel (sequels?) was absolute shit so maybe you have to consider that.

I wonder if there'll be a reboot of Logan's Run coming along any time soon. Seems like it could be a thing. I wouldn't mind a well done cable series.
