That's a pretty typical wheel sort of route and if Williams can pull away from the LB, Mahomes puts it where he could catch it in stride and run. Yes, Kelce should've been the throw, but if it was drawn up for Williams if he's single covered, he got the look he wanted and made the throw.

Williams just didn't have the wheels to get there. Part of the problem was that he had his head turned the whole time and it slowed him up instead of just busting ass into his route and then locating the ball.
I'd have to go back and listen to the postgame interview, but I thought Mahomes said he was surprised that Williams was even there, i.e. it wasn't the route he was suppose to run. When he saw Williams, he thought he would let it fly. Even said he underthrew it and Williams saved him from an int with his play.

I think we’re talking about different plays.

I’m not talking about the TD (in the post you quoted anyway) I’m talking about the incomplete pass out in the flats in the Packers game.

Ho hum day for the MVP. We'll need better down the stretch but it was enough for today and that's all that matters at this exact moment.

Kelce catches that ball and it's possible his stats end up looking completely different. It'd be really nice if Travis cut out the "1 drop a game" thing he's been doing lately, as they've come at really inopportune spots.

He had a few games like this down the stretch last year and in 2019.

Par for the course when 4 passes are dropped.

At least we've moved beyond any more 160-yard games as the floor.

Oh, this was a real nice play. This was MVPat avoiding a rushing and ad libbing for a nice gain.

Overall we have to be pleased with where he is at. Pocket presence and accuracy are there. Clean up the drops.

I'm beyond caring about the stats at this point.

He wasn't bad but he wasn't particularly good either. Aside from the Kelce and Hardman drops on 3rd downs, we still had far too many drives stall. 3 points scored in an entire half leaves a lot to be desired.

That drive almost certainly ends in points and changes the outcome of the game (making it a 3 possession one).

I guess I’m having a hard time thinking of a second half drive that stalled because Patrick missed reads ala the Packers game. We had the missed field goal drive, the Kelce INT drive, the Orlando Brown missing a blocker for a sack and then the line missing two blockers on 3rd down.

Patrick did what he needed to against a great defense this week. Had Kelce not dropped the pass it would have likely been an excellent game against a great defense.

Not going for it on 4th and 3 and settling for the (missed) 51 yard FG seemed like a give up decision to me. Going for it there, regardless of success, would have allowed a chance at another score. Just put it in Pat’s hands.

Fail and the Cowboys have the ball at their own 34.

The 4 drops killed the Chiefs. Absolutely killed them. Stop criticizing Andy Reid when the biggest problems with this offense continue to be execution.

Hell I don't know what Patrick was doing on the last possession. Had the pitch out to CEH set up perfectly and he got scared and kept it? WTF man.

He had one early for a 1st down that we had to punt on that I thought was his 1 drop a game drop, then the pick.

Not the best game for him. Good part is right after the pick, Pat went right back to him on the play above.

Not sure how one "asides" those drops. They literally killed drives.
